When you have a 15 second doppleganger of your enemy, can you strategically command it around in tactical cam or is it completely outside of your control?
I would think so, but there's no way of knowing yet.

@Bakkael: You don't like Spirit Mark? From it's description - you literally get a copy of what you've killed.
That could be anything from a nug to a dragon... are you seriously telling me that you don't want a dragon spirit for a short duration?
NOTE: I am not sure if this is how the spell works 100% - but that IS the description.
NOTE 2: And the upgrade to Spirit Mark could even make the creature "Permanent Until Slain" - I'm pretty sure we haven't seen it yet.
I would rather have something similar to edo tensei in naruto then the boring looking things in this magic tree.
Another mage specialization I won't waste my time unlocking.
It must be so boring to have standards so high...
@Shapeshifter777: Well - to be fair - I think it would be next to impossible to properly Spirit Mark a High Dragon and time it perfectly.
AND - given their power - they're going to be the only thing in the immediate area. By the time you get to something else... the duration will have run out.
Still... just doing it would be very very cool.
Instead of retconing why not changing the name of this class to SHAMAN
Wouldn't having at least one spirit to summon, as in actually summon, be beneficial to the class?

Or witch doctor even. These skills sound more like a black shaman or witch doctor.

In dragon age, the powerful necromancers of Nevarra bind spirits to corpses as part of funeral rituals and beliefs. A necromancer would not honor an enemy by binding a spirit to their body. Instead, they would use their spirits to mimic the enemy, and the corpse as an explosive weapon
So cool

Not really.
I found footage of Spirit Mark, if anyone wants to see it. It happens shortly after 13 minutes into this video in the swamps:
It looks like you can not control your summon, which definitely limits the potential for using the ability strategically. The spirit mimic will attack who it wants, when it wants and doesn't give an F what you have to say about it. lol
Edited cause I put the wrong link the first time. Herp derp.
So cool
Theodosian necromancy is not equal to Tamriellic Necromancy or other fantasy Necromancy.
Necromancy in Tamriel is about raising the dead, Mannimarco, Molag Bal, the undead and skeletons and ghosts, manipulation of death and disease...This is sort of the same with Necromancy in other fantasy games...
Necromancy in Thedas is about spirit communion, mummification, treating the dead with respect, using lich powers to teach and to communicate...
Theodosian Necromancy is far more grey and benevolent as opposed to the typical Necromancy we see in fantasy games...
What about that cave fight in DA2 when you are asked to go in there and calm down the blood mages and you have to fight a bunch of skeletal corpses

It beats having the standard long duration skeleton that turns to shambles in the first fight it finds itself in.

That was Blood Magic
Were we able to control the animate dead critter in origins?
I played on console, and don't recall being able to do so. Perhaps It was doable on PC? Im not sure.
You couldn't control it on the console, but you could control the skeleton on the PC version. I tried it a few weeks ago.

Yeah. On the PC you could click the character portrait to take control of non-compainion followers

I'm actually impressed with the Necromancer skills. The more I view the trees, the more I can see the elegance that went into making it all work together.
I'd be fine if we could just have the spirit mark replaced by just some summon thing where we only get one creature.
Like I wish the duration was higher but limited to ONE creature.

Wow I'm an idiot sometimes. Fixed.
I actually am more interested in the necromancer now. I was not at all interested before.
