DEATH SIPHON | Health on kill: 10 | Mana on kill: 20 | Passive |

VS quick fights (Short combat duration / burst): 1/5 - Not very relevant to short encounters

VS endurance fights (Long fights / outlast enemy): 5/5  - Superb in lasting fights
VS crowds (AOE): 5/5 - Superb vs crowds
VS single target elites and bosses (ST): 2/5 - Unless the boss has consistent adds, this ability is fairly useless

I strongly disagree. It allows the character to recover lost health in short skirmishes, without wasting potions.

Basically means that Necromancer with this skill will not be using party's potion stash - so 8 potions are suddenly distributed among 3 people, not 4.

You have a good point there, I stand corrected.

Although I imagine you do have to get the killing blow, which may not be as easy in a brawl. I guess if your Necro is low on health you may need to disengage any other party members attacking their target just before he goes down. Still if you are happy with a bit more micro its a pretty good strategy.

A very, very important question need to be answered to make more advanced planning options on what to pair with necromancy. This question stands as:

"Will damage over time spells receive the full benefit from +% damage modifiers at the time of casting said DoTs, for the whole duration of DoTs? Or will the damage from DoTs update each tick?"

Tweeted Patrick asking for this, since Cameron and Mike never answer my tweets (12 tweets total atm) :(

Well, that's another mage specialization that ended up being boring. We're 3 for 3, whoo.

I agree that it is kinda boring. Way too "safe" in its design.

It is however very powerful. Will def be my go to class for mage Inquisitor on nightmare mode.

I think people are disappointed in that their expectations aren't met, however, you can only blame yourself for that. It has never been stated that this tree would include a summon or manipulation over corpses. The very little in DAlore we know about necromancy are the Mortalitasi, who bind spirits to dead bodies.

I quite like the sound of the specialization, my only comment would be that Haste seems out of place.

I disagree, the KE abilities, the energy blade and the fact that when you walk into someone you can make them explode, is fun.

Haste feels wrong being in that tree.

For people who are too lazy to read all the posts : Haste does not belong to Necromancer Tree. Its the system where you have your focus, specialization skill implemented.

Those skills are different for different characters, and in such case its specialization focus skill of Dorian , implanted in middle of his specialization Tree.

And i disagfree on statement on being boring.

You know, in most advanced human spiritual sciences person who names things "boring" usually is just master-less and skill-less.

It is very fun for many. Tho i respect people who have their own opinions, statements of "tree being boring" is groundless and bit.... as i said above... if you do not know how to cook lamb better do not start with it or it will be "boring" for you

All they did was take the spirit tree, rename it, and call it a new specialization.  Its not new, they just took away something all mages previously had access to made it exclusive and called it a new spec. Its great that it will help those that play on Nightmare, but there is no incentive to take that spec for those of us who will play on easier modes.

Well, I have to disagree with you. I find the KE energy blade to be stupid. I was hoping for the opportunity to play a swordmage or something similar and an energy blade that only appears when you swing your hand won't do it for me.  Also, walking bomb is a DoT that you lay on your enemy.  If they die while it's still on them, they explode. They don't explode because you walked into them, unless this is some new KE ability I'm not aware of.

My guess is that Haste is just Dorian's Focus ability. It's not included in the tree per se - I think that every character has a unique Focus ability, including the Inquisitor.

I'm not bugged by the lack of spirits to summon, but I do think they could have done more interesting things with it.

Right now it seems like it's pretty much a copy of the "death" spell tree in Origins. They could / should have added some spells from the "Draining" or "Hexes" spell trees too imo. Like drain life / death cloud / death hex / curse of mortality etc. Perhaps in a new form.

Though I admit I'm not sure whether those spells have found a different place in Inquisition.

Still, having one character with the Haste spell unlocked will be very beneficial in tough encounters. Horror will definitely be something I pick up as well on my nightmare playthroughs. As others have said before, I don't see how it makes sense to have that spell in the Necromancy tree however.

I like it.  I often took Entropy in Origins to round out my Mage until I could meet the pre-reqs for Mana Clash, so a Spirit/Necromancer focus looks like the successor to that build in Inquisition.  Should have an interesting mix of focus fire, crowd control and defence for my first attempt at the game.

I highly doubt that, I think it is tied into specialization trees.

Why would the inquisitor only have one focus ability, especially across 3 classes with 2 of them having 2 separate paths.

Focus exist in each specialization tree and quizzy have access to each depending on class and what you choose.

*snip*

No I'm referring to one of the KE's abilities that makes you untargetable and invulnerable for a short duration and once it ends and you moved inside an enemy, you make them explode dealing lots of damage. I'd link but I saw this in one of the twitch streams I believe and it was a while ago so I have no memory of where it is.

Oh, now that sounds like it has promise. I really hope that's a thing. I need more explosions in my life.

Fade Cloak, I think.  A must get for me.

Necromancer looks pretty good though - the spirit summons are cool and make lore sense, and Haste is going to be wonderfully useful.

I quite like it. I've never been a fan of the stereotypical necromancer, and this has some pretty great skills.
