any idea which setting controls the hair?
It's 'Hide helmet - off'.
I really hope it's a bug, though. Hair in demos did not look too good, but this? Just can't be right.

That "low" thingy, is actually pretty detailed.
Nah, seems about right. With the higher settings the hair benefits from higher resolution texture breaking the highlights of uniform shape into much smaller ones, and it looks like they have some sort of anisotropic effect shader going. On low setting these enhancements are missing, and you get to see the hair mesh how it 'really' is, with the specular highlight left as one large patch.I really hope it's a bug, though. Still can not be, even NWN2 had better hair, low-res and 10yrs old - but MUCH better looking.
Could they really release the game with such a mesh ? Considering that current tests show the game as a gpu+cpu-hungry one, plenty of people are going to play on 'medium' (if not 'low'). To me this 'low' hair is 100% unacceptable.
Low has so much aliasing it hurts. Ultra looks pretty damn good and so many more effects added to everything. Don't know if my rig can handle it but I'll play in high minimum.

Mr. Miyagi would be so proud of Cassandra and Solas.
Both look oddly good.
To bad no nudity shots to compare also, ok bad joke just surpised both of the presets look good. Can't wait in and crank everything up now.
i hope my 2 680's can ultra 'dis otherwise i might cry.
Low looks decent.
By the way, i gotta be happy if there is "Vey High" setting aswell.
(Obviously not Ultra)
I wonder if Low might be similar to how it looks on last-gen consoles.
Trying to adjust my expectations.

Laughed hard. lol (Look at Varric; He is floating on the edge aswell
)
Aside from the plastic hair, low looks surprisingly good.

They apparantly said close.

Like I said, as long as the hair is decent looking and not plastic, and the pop-in is better, I won't have to much problem with my last-gen version if that's what it looks like. Wouldn't mind better aliasing and spell effects though (the low setting's spells look crappier than console-DA2's spells).
I wonder if all the hairstyle would look that bad on low, because that bun seems to be one of the least textured styles only looking slightly better than the qunari styles. That said it still looks pretty good on low to me.

frostbite engine scales that way, high for example makes little visual difference to ultra with BF4.
You can also scale the density of the image when playing so it ends up looking better while obviously also requries more form the computer.
How much of this bioware added to the game I dont know.
Most will be able to run the PC version on high or some Ultra setings with good fps using Mantle technology for amd cards.
at my resolution 5040x1050 and a single 290 I expect High should be doable without much effort using Mantle.
I f*cking love this "Low". I'm gonna play on laptop so I'm aiming for low, maybe medium settings and that video made me positive for rest of the day ![]()
THis one should stop watching all those video. Because this one is getting too much spoiled.. and this one .. sniffle.. want it to release.. sniff.
The hair look like plastic on low lol. Very good shadow effect on ultra and ambient occlusion.
Won't be able to run it on utlra, but I hope I can run it on high if and still be above 30 fps. I can run BF 4 on ultra with 30-40 fps so it should't be a problem.
I went to Brown's PC repairs today, I told him want to buy the best GPU to play DAI. He sold me a prototype GPU called DeLorean DMC-12, it's pretty powerful at 1.21 gigawatts and it has the new flux capacitor cooling system, it's core speed averages at 80 mph but he said if i overclock it up to 88 mph i'm going to see some serious ****.
So will the PS4 look close to PC Ultra then?

Well, thanks for the reply.
(By the way, im using NV card (GTX660Ti). Obviously little old, but never had problem playing the games on High and Very High (Usually tweaking the shadow to low or medium, though (I usually keep the AA on decent setting) ) at the common 1980x1080 reso)
Just spent £75 updating my PC so it can handle this beast at its best. And what difference will it make?
Non-shiny hair and heat effects over the fires.
WIN!!
