Hi guys. I have finally reached the endgame on my first playthrough as a tank warrior and I am curious as to what gear I should be searching for to optimise my crew for the final battles.
As I said my mc is a warrior tank. I tend to have a wynne by default, lelianna as an archer for locks and utility and the forth spot tends to go to morrigan or shale depending on the fight.
I think I have the best massive armors and one handed swords for my mc but I am lacking in spirit res gear. Knowing that the arch demon uses spirit damage should I be looking for gear to protect myself? My stats are pretty low compared to other people i have seen on the forums. I believe I just hit 20/21.
Str is at 42 unbuffed.
Def is around 50 unbuffed.
The rest are pretty much at defaults since only the bare minimum went into them. Sorry to be a tad vague but I dont have access to my game right now.
Regardless of that is there any gear i should be making sure I have before I pass the point of no return?
Thanks as always for your time.

Optimal gear for endgame?

Don't worry yourself with the "best" gear too much. You can finish the game wearing the starter gear if you really wanted to.
In saying that you can find all the armour/weapons on the Dragon Age Wiki.

Speaking of Spirit Gear. You realize that fire/cold etc resistance cap at 75% right?
Well if you kill the Darkspawn General in the Market District, he drops a helm called "Corruption". Best helm in the game. Tier 7, Massive. It has +1 dex, and 75% spirit resistance. So you'll cap your resistance with that.
The "best" armor for a tank is probably Evons, with either Wades S Dscale gloves + boots, or Diligence gloves and boots, and the Corruption helm. I usually go with either Wades Dragonbone or Juggernaut or Effort, cause they look better.

Knight Commander's Plate is what I plan to wear on my warrior.
+5 Willpower
+40% Spell Resistance
+10 Mental Resistance
You need to be a Templar however so it might not be an option.
Wades boots and gloves are excellent as well. They have fire resistance which helps endgame and stamina regen on both items.

Knight Commanders plate is the best gear against mages.
That + Spellward + Key to the City + 1GM & 2M Dweomer Runes = 100% spell resist (immunity)
Having said that, Mana Clash completely trivializes Mages. If you have mages completely taken care of, I'd say Reaver/Champion is the way to go, for Devour + Frightening Appearance (it increases the effectiveness of taunt, and is a great ability to boot).

For tanks Id say Wade's Superior Dragonbone Plate, if you have or can get it. Good Armor.

The plate that sold @ Wades store for 107 gold > Wades superior Drragonbone plate, for tanking tbh, mana + health regen over a tiny def lose pays off.

I'd wear Evons with Wades superior heavy. You get the setbonus then. Other than that, Juggernaut, Effort or Diligence are always nice.

Thanks for the replys guys. Exactly what I needed. In regards to the massive armor sets I am pretty sure I have them all so that wont be a prob and that 75% res spirit helm will take care of that.
In regards to rogue and mage what sort of stuff should I be searching out?

For the rogue there's one single best armor: Felon's Coat. For the boots I'd always go with Cadash Stompers. Depending on the playstyle you equip the other gear, for example Red Jenny Seekers for a Backstabber.
For a mage I'd go with either Reapers Vestment or Tevinter Mage robes, together with the staff of the magister lords.
Rings and amulets are for all classes about the same, Spellward, Lifegiver, Key to the City, etc.
Ultimately, look up the items on the dragon age wiki (dragonage.wikia.com) and plan the character according to what you think is best, to your taste.

If you're on pc there are some nice mods out there that supply weapons and armour too.

This. No point in saving the world if you're not going to look good doing it. Warden Commander's all the way. If you're on the PC, Warden's Runic on Dragonagenexus.com is incredibly damn sexy too, with comparable stats to other endgame armors. No set bonus, but you can fix that with The Winter Forge if you like.dkjestrup wrote...

Am I the only one who thinks matching heavy armor (on guys) looks pretty cool? Particularly the arms, and especially the extra armor on the shoulder. The way the pieces interlock very precisely, and the armor looks protective but not cumbersome. With the exception of the legs, which I think could look a lot better.

Finally someone gets me... But I don't have Wardens Keep
I just wear Wades Superior Dragonbone (good because I can get the set bonus without a helm!) or Juggernaut (which is identical in looks, just a different colour. Really bioware? You were THAT lazy?).
The saddest thing is that there are only two different shapes to Massive Armor. Dwarven Massive or Massive Plate. It's pathetic.

It is nice - the Grey Wardens Runic Armor - but so is the Black Templar and the Shadow Wardens (for light armour). I have quite a few of those - and the Winter Forge to craft my own too.
Edit: I agree on the looking good - I'd rather be dead, hehe. But how can you say Evon's is fugly? Compared to that dlc armour (Blood Armor?) it's the height of style - the blood stuff looks like you're wearing a refrigerator splashed with red paint. Ick. (Btw, I agree that Evon's is fugly.)

LOL, Susan. I swear you are my soulmate. I agree with almost everything you post. I doesn't help that Terry Pratchet is my favorite author. Everytime I see your name I am reminded of Thief of Time.
Anyways...
I totally agree that the Blood Dragon armor is ugly. Not as ugly as Evon's (or any other human/elf heavy armor), but yes, it is ugly. I only wear Warden Commander's or one of the lovely player made armors. If I don't like the stats, I'll mod it with the Winter Forge. Currently, I'm looking at using the shield graphic from http://dragonagenexu...file.php?id=269 with Warden Commander's Shield/Duncan's Shield/Fade Wall.
Maybe if they did one of the Hi-Res Blood Dragon designs over the Juggernaught armor....

..by the end of game you want to have bought, Spellward amulet, Lifegiver ring and Anduril's Blessing belt. These items are seriously overpowered to the point of imbalance...hell...it's possible to gain at least one of these by level 10, the second by level 14 and have all of them by level 16!
...if your PC doesn't have all of these then you are either playing a support build, you have spent your money on unnecessary miscellaney, or you want to make things overly hard for yourself! (though there is always the possibility that you are playing a mage)!
...as for armor, depending on what sort of character you are playing...there are many threads discussing the pros or cons on matching armor sets & non-matching sets...but my personal favorite for a melee warrior is knight commanders plate w. gloves of diligence, bergen's honor helm & appropriate boots (cadash stompers, diligence or warden commander's)...second ring being key to the city....
