Ah, if only Merrill was in Inquisition. I really liked the character. It would be nice to meet her with my Dalish mage; they could talk about the People, stories about the Elvhenan, the implications of the Breach on mages, the potential to help the Elvhen, what her studies of the lore and shard yielded about the implications of the Eluvians. If Merrill doesn't show up and is still around in Thedas, I hope - at the very least - she's referenced as being happy.

If she does appear in inquisition I hope she has a reunion with the Danish warden. The cut content with the warden in da2 added so much depth to her character, it was a shame they didn't put it in the game. I hope they rectify that in some way.

I loved that origin.  Starting out at Kronborg Castle and searching for the lost ghost of Hamlet's father was a really inventive way to start a game set in Thedas.

I don't know about Merrill specifically, but Varric does mention that, as far as he knows, Hawke is still with their LI.

Hawke is captured by either the Mages or Templars in Inquisition and can be executed. It's possible that Merrill or any LI was captured and possibly executed too.

Given what we know so far, that doesn't seem likely.

We already know that Hawke's companions (and potential love interests) are not with the Champion at this time, since Varric accounts for them being elsewhere, with the possible exception of Anders. Merrill is in Kirkwall taking care and leading the elves, keeping them safe from the Mage-Templar War.

Don't want to rain on your parade (heck, it's partially my parade, actually), but Neria, the Keeper from Multiplayer, wears the exact same outfit, just a different color palette. Depending on light conditions in that video, it may not be Merrill, but Neria.

 

MP characters are also said to be around Skyhold. You know, as a completely irrelevant NPCs.

 

The word is they'll take those spots. So the same amount of irrelevant NPCs if you don't play MP...

But characters you'll recognize as your agents if you do play MP.
