An Elf. Humans are fanatical lunatics, Qunari are horn headed monsters, and Dwarves come up a bit short in what I seek in a race.
What race are you going to be and why?

Either human or elf, because those are the two races I'd pick from normally, given a choice. My three DAO completions were with city elf, human mage and human noble, all female. I'll most likely make my final decision in the CC. Definitely female for the first playthrough. I may make at least one male Inq for later playthroughs as I'm tempted by the Cassandra/Dorian romances.

Elf mage with a crisis of faith who feels she's been betrayed by the Creators and who believes her people should just move the heck on and not stay stuck in a past they never knew.

Elf first, decided on female elf mage (sudden twist).
Elf because I'm tired of having to roll a human in every game, plus I've always liked elves in any game. Female because I'm most interested in romancing Solas on my first run plus she fits the World State I'm importing first (my Warden romanced Zevran and Hawke romanced Fenris, so with Solas as the male elf LI and gender-race gated, a female elf works beautifully). Mage because I'm dying to try out the Knight Enchanter class and the elves are far too raky to be a serious warrior.
Will play all races (and classes) eventually, and will have both male and female characters as with any BioWare game I've played.

With four races to choose from, I'm curious as to what the most popular races will be and why people are picking the race they're going to play.
For me, I'm going Qunari first because, I want to learn more about them, horns, and because I've already played as every other race.
elves cause they're awesome. (seriously though, pick any race they are all good, and have their own merits.[i imagine most people will play qunari since its a new race])

Qunari, because it goes with my rule of choosing something else than standard human, elf, dwarf etc. Besides, it's interesting to play someone who comes from very different culture and in addition, went against it. Especially the fact that I'm going to play as Qunari mage. Although dwarves come very close, as my second choice, since their lore and culture are also very interesting, plus it's good that they went with surface dwarf, instead of underground noble or commoner. But right now, Qunari mage it is.

I am thinking a Qunari Rogue(assassin class) for my first play through and then probably an elf warrior for my second. The classes my switch on these, but I want to be a Qunari first!

Male Elf for two reasons, firstly because I played a dwarf warrior in Origins and human rogue in DA2 so I think an elf mage would be fitting for Inquisition. And also for the Male Elf/Iron Bull romance!

Probably an elf. Pointy ears are sexy, that's why.

Well my first playthrough will probably be as a human female warrior. This will allow me to get a lay of the land so to speak. I know at some point I want to play a female qunari mage but we'll have to see.

Human because I'm Tevinter.
The real trevelyan died, I'm a Tevinter spy impersonating him.

I like the background of the human so that is what lead me to using that for my first playthrough.

This is the only time I've ever been truly conflicted about what race I will play. I was almost certain a Qunari rogue, but surprisingly I'm going for a Dalish rogue now. I almost always play human when it comes to games like this, but now I'm not. My reasoning behind this is that with the Inquisition being formed, its in a way creating its own ideology. Your character is basically the poster child of divinity, being labeled as the Herald of Andraste and other such titles. Now to have a human take position of leader behind an organization such as this is just the norm, it'll be accepted, but to me having a Dalish elf leads down a more interesting path. As we know the elves have been subjugated and crapped on, this that and the third. Having a dalish elf be the poster child for the maker's will and affection, alongside being the leader of a new independent organization with its own political affiliations, and ideologies will bring more diversity into the world. It'll give other elves hope, it'll humble humans, and it'll be an eye opener for many other people. If it were a human being the leader nothing would change, people would just expect the Inquisitor to be human, because that's just how it is. I find being a Dalish elf is the perfect way to spice things up, and have them be an enforcer of new norms and privileges. Also the lack of Qunari hair options made me reconsider playing one, so yea :3

Male Qunari Mage or maybe Rogue. Just to screw with people and see how many are scare of Qunari or at least see their reactions of seeing one.

Female Elf, mostly because I really like the new design. They are looking very nice but I'm not quite certain as to whether I'll be rolling a Mage or a Rogue.

I will start with male qunari warrior. I love that they are included in this game. I also love the idea of a Tal-Vashoth who is completely disconnected to Qunari culture and identifies as a Marcher first. I'm hoping that the game allows that.
Then I'll move onto a male dwarf rogue, because they have always been my favorite fantasy race and not nearly enough games let you play as them.
Then, after I go through a male of both of those races, I'll roll a female of one of those races (dwarf warrior, qunari rogue or mage). Most likely a dwarf, but I might decide to do qunari if I liked them enough.
I also would like to do a mage at some point (my first qunari will be a warrior), so I'll have to make sure to do another male qunari so he can be a mage if I pick a lady dwarf.
Basically, I'll keep floating between qunari and dwarves. I doubt I'll ever finish the game with a human or elf. Hell, I might not even start a game with either. But I will certainly spend hours playing around with human and elf CC options, even if I don't play them.
