Yep so its confirmed Corypheus is the elder one. I'm only noting cause there's been alot of speculation but it's pretty much nailed down on the cross now. Corypheus is served by the venatori, still don't know what's up with them, alongside the mind-controlled wardens and red templars, thus granting him an army that would cause one to take caution.

Evidence:

Twitch Stream

Also here's a picture of Corypheus alongside Samson! You know that discharged Red Templar in DA: II who you could possibly get back into the order for being a kinda nice guy...turns out he went through all that, only to be turned into a Red Templar puppet..ouch.

Old Stuff:

So from information that I've put together its become incredibly obvious to me...Corypheus is controlling the wardens in Dragon Age : Inquisition. Before I get into this for the uninformed Corypheus is one of the 1st Tevinter Magisters to become a Darkspawn who's ass you kicked in DA :II. Now upon his defeat its made obvious he transfers his essence into Larius or Janeka through the power of his Old God like abilities. It can then be inferred that through this possession of a noteworthy warden Corypheus is influencing the warden ranks to act upon his will. I'm kinda sure that do to his Old God like version of the "call" he's influencing his surrounding wardens from within the body of either Larius/Janeka. This would make sense that he's controlling the Warden's mind through this "calling" to act on his behalf, rather than using deception or deceit to get them to act on his will.

Evidence :

Probably the only damn thing Loghain has been good for (in my opinion, save for those of you who spared his life) is taking note of the foul acts within the wardens ranks. It's stated by this warrior Hawke that he met with Loghain and discussed his speculations of corruption within the Warden's ranks (Corypheus controlling them). Loghain even makes note that no one even knew about the existence of Corypheus save for a few, thus meaning his infiltration of the ranks would be completely unexpected. It's obvious however his presence and involvement do become public, and he's actively harassing the Inquisition.

In this shot of the war table you can even read an exceprt of Leliana mentioning Corypheus as a threat stating he's a publicly active menace within the land.

Suffice to say its obvious this is the reason the Inquisition was battling the Wardens in previously shown trailers. This does greatly put me at ease. It's better knowing the Wardens are posing an actual threat do to their mind controlled agenda, and need to be stopped, rather than having a difference of political beliefs with the Inquisition, and the Inquisition just riding rough shot over our tainted heroes I really should've guessed this would be an essential plot point back when I played the Legacy DLC, i suppose I was to distracted by that damn light the glowing torches puzzle. I'm really interested in how this will play out and how this will affect notable Warden affiliates (if you allowed them to join ofcourse) like Sigrun, Nathaniel, Velanna, Oghren, and even Bethany/Carver. It would be insane if they were under Corpheus's influence to and you had to fight them, I shudder at the thought. Anyway what do you guys think? I know this has been theorized before, but I'm just seeing how's it's pretty much stated now. Also I don't know if this strengthens or proves the theory of Corypheus being the Elder One, but I really doubt it.

Interesting theory, but...what about Alistair? Would he not be very much aware of what was happening and warn the Inquisition? Or...would he perhaps be under Corypheus' control? Hm. I'd like to say 'yes' to that as an idea, but due to the fact a) Alistair may be dead B) Alistair may be in a position of no relevance (eg. dead, drunk), that almost certainly won't be the case. So...handwaving with 'Oh, I lost my Warden Senses' or something then if the case. Still. Interesting theory.

Yes change the title...but on the flip side I do wonder that what happens if Loghain is not alive.  Will it be Allistair?  The HOF?  Or Stroud?  Or one of the companions from a previous game?

In all likelihood it's Alistair if he's a GW and not king or Stroud if both Alistair and Loghain don't work in that capacity.

And @ people being nasty about the title: Jeezus, guys, give the kid a break.  It's his/her first post.  They did say they want to change it once it was pointed out to them. Perhaps pointing out how to change it instead of unloading a can of unhelpful criticism would be more constructive.

I don't know off the top of my head, OP.  I haven't started that many topics myself.

I nananananaed past the OP but really man, if you're gonna put a character's name right there and then put BIG SPOILERS next to it it really doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that Cory is gonna do something big and bad in the beginning since that's the only part we've seen. I mean really.

It shouldn't be a surprise he would appear in DAI since a lot of things back in DA2 Legacy hinted his return and major involvement for DAI story.

Only thing people were not certain about him was how far will he be involved in DAI.

Every time someone references this fellow I have to look him up to remind myself who he is. I guess I must have been the only person in the world that didn't play ANY of the DA2 DLC...

On topic, I have the same though that AceHalberd has. I didn't leave Loghain alive which, in hindsight after all these years, I really wish I had picked him over Alistair to live, Who tells you then? Alistair is king in my only play through. I can't think of anyone else that would know this information but Stroud I guess. He was in Awakenings right?

I doubt we'll have to kill the wardens, maybe knocking them out. We'll probably have options like that in the game, I hope.

There were two figures in the prologue vision. I think Corypheus is a pawn or partner to someone else. He's the obvious threat. The other person is the Elder One.

I always figured Cory would be The Elder One and the glowy figure that you see, the one that tries to reach you is the Divine.

Yeah, but there are two shadowed figures in that scene besides the Divine.

EDIT:

First Figure: We have an intruder.

Divine: Run (etc. don't remember exactly)

Second Figure(Deeper voice than the first): Slay the Qunari(PC)

I didn't realize there were two shadowed figures. Would someone mind getting a screenshot of that? (spoilered of course)

Whoever edited the title thanks. I'm sorry if I russled anyone's Jimmy's. I didn't take into consideration that the original title could allude to so many possible assumptions and thus spoil it, and I forgot how aggresive the fanbase is about that stuff. Again its my first topic and I didn't mean to cause offense with the outlandish title. Hope we can get back on track to legitimate discussions, and if you can't accept this apology from I, the scumbag OP, then in the words of Oghren, "Sod off! Duster," :3

God, I really hope Corypheus is just a secondary antagonist and not the Elder One. That would be pretty underwhelming.

Why? He's a giant scary monster mage thing that can rip open the sky that no other than our protagonist in the last game released, screwing over everyone. How is that underwhelming?
