Since I'm trying to avoid review sites to prevent spoiler-overload, does anyone have a link for the Rift Mage tree yet?

Both rift mage and tempest (rogue) skill trees are not out yet. Very annoying. I have stumbled over every other tree, so i dont know why these haven't been posted anywhere,

I knew i was gonna roll a rift mage before, but this seals the deal, still between rift mage and necromancer ( which i find really cool ) i have to go with this one!

Whoa...Rift Mage looks insanely powerful...Look at those damage numbers....
I was firmly in the Necromancer camp but now...I am leaning to Rift Mage...

So some nature ( stone fist from origins and da2 ) some inferno and a revamped force mage is now more or less rift mage, cool beans ![]()

The last symbol resembles
Rift was my initial specilisation for my Qunari Mage, but I'm still deciding between this and Knight Enchanter. Vivienne will always be in my party so two Knight Enchanters might be redundant. More than likely I may go Rift mage for the sake of party diversity. Having the focus skill from both Knight Enchanter and Rift Mage in the party will be great, not to mention the fire focused mage I have in mind should compliment the rift mage well.

Exactly, same thing I was thinking! They seemed to have spread the Force Mage skills between Rift and Knight Enchanter. Rift having the offensive KE the reverse. But the fact that the Spirit Blade in KE can build barrier is insane! Tough decisions!

I think the difference is that this time, you are pulling matter directly from the Fade, hence the massive damage numbers and the spirit damage as opposed to nature damage.
In previous DA games, I think the mage conjures inferno and stonefist using elemental forces. In DAI the Rift Mage just pulls matter out from the Fade directly to inflict a massive s**tstorm on enemies.

Watching the abilities side by side may have to go Knight Enchanter. Qunari Male Mage swing spirit swords of death while simultaneously generating barrier? And if things go south resurgence, the damage potential and survive ability is ridiculous. Based on your build you can effectively tank as a mage I think. A four mage party seems more feasible now.
Not to mention that fade cloak 1000% weapon damage potential plus the combat clarity passive... But I want to be a rift mage... >.>

If your avatar pic is your Inquisitor, that guy definitely gives off a knight enchanter vibe more. Besides, Qunari are physically tough and intimidating, doesn't that fit a near invincible mage that hits stuff with a magical sword?

We are restricted to one specialization only.
So, unless you get your console cheats up, not Knight Enchanter/ Rift mage for you.

You didn't know? That's been known for... A long time. It's to make them feel more special and defining for your character. I've heard there will even be dialogue that specifically talks about your specialization and notes it. Like (pretend example) someone not trusting you because you're an assassin.

Damn dis crap. I'm the bloody head inquisitor why I'm not allowed to be both immortal and control nuclear armaments at the same time?

My inquisitor will be based on that design yes! I'll be sure to share him when I finally get the game. And I agree with you, been thinking more on it and being in the middle of the battle will suit him more I think. There will be two Knight Enchanters at all times in my party then. ![]()
I wonder how many skill points we will get? I know we can respec but I wanted to go Inferno for Inquisitor and a bit of Winter (DAT FADE STEP!) So many insane mage abilities!

Hmmm...Rift mage seems a lot like force mage with a bit of other things thrown in randomly (fire attack for no reason, and stonefist seems a bit out of place as well). I am loving both of the other specializations a great deal more at this point.

Technically it's a meteor attack and I think the idea behind it is that your character is literally ripping open the Veil and shaping chunks of the Fade and hurling it back out again. That's the vibe I'm getting anyway. Literally using the Fade as a weapon.
