...Uhhh which ones? Because I'm using 2 positions for derring-do and if I don't need it and I need to pass scholarship, rulership and cunning checks that'd be nice to be able to pass.

Perhaps the "lose 5 of each" option is actually the consequence for failing the Cunning or Scholarship checks?
Possibly, I don't know sorry, there was no check on the Defy option, just a warning that there would be consequences (which is why I thought it would be the one that you lost trophies etc). And now my game is over so can't try anything else 
I actually don't mind my ending TBH I never liked the Chantry in the first place so this was a Dragon Age game that I got to actually choose to say "screw the Chantry" lol

How much cunning is needed to get close to 100% success rate for lying to the Divine? I'm still trying to decide whether or not to break into the chantry, and I don't want to risk losing 15 SVT from the Divine, as I'm uncertain if I will have enough to spare and still get the best ending.
100 cunning; I had a 71% success rate w/ 71 cunning.

I have heard that the Divine will give you the keys to the Chantry if she is pleased and you haven't previously opened it, however I do not know if that is just part of the ending text or if you would actually get to explore it before the game ends.
I'm a bit late to the party, and you may already know this now, but I broke into the Chantry, still pleased the Divine, and she still gave me the keys.

I was able to finish the game this weekend and I had the same result. Thanks for chipping in.
