I started out both Dragon Age Origins and Dragon Age II with a Sword and shield, male, human! So I would say that would be the case this time also. (just like I always started out as a Vanguard in all the Mass Effect games). I guess I like to be first on the enemy.

I thought of playing as a mage during the first playthrough, but it doesn't feel heroic or fun just shooting enemies from far off.

First run will be ...human warrior.  I haven't decided which sex or romance yet.  That will be a last minute decision depending on how I fee and which to the npc's appeals to me first.

After that...no idea just plan to let how I feel about the game help me decide I guess, though a mage run will happen.  I don't see myself playing as a Qunari.

I usually start with a human character, but for DA:I I plan to make my first character a female Qunari warrior.

She'll romance Josephine and generally be pro templar.

I'm torn at the moment. I've decided on Human for my first playthrough, but that's it! For my very first Origins and DA2 playthroughs, I was a rogue. But in Origins, the class I had the most fun with was 2 Handed Warrior and then Sword and Shield. So I'm debating if I stay with tradition, or if I break the mold.

Gah decisions decisions!

Qunari female rogue (daggers). I was so excited when I learned we could play as a qunari in inquisition there's no way I'm not going to be one in my first playthrough! She will be so badass!

I always start as a warrior and a human, and most of the times as a tank. This time was hard because y really like all classes and races.

Finally i decided Tank because thanks to the skills tree thread, i saw the champion skilltree and it was great. So i will make cass 2h templar to bring her all along with me tanking, and i can romance her and live happy with her by my side. Sorry Blackwall, 2nd playtrough for you.

First Playthrough: Human Warrior Male (Tank Champ) LI Cass

Second Playthrough: Elven Mage Male (KE/Necro) LI Jossie

Third Playthrough: Dwarf Rogue Male (Artif/Assasin) LI Jossie

Fourth Playthrough: Qunari Warrior Male (Reaver/Templar) LI Cass

I've made a list of about 8 characters I want to play, males and females, and well... most of them were rogues or mages  and elves :o

But for my first playthrough I think I'll go with 2h male human warrior, romancing Cassandra.

Elves, Qunaris and Dwarves must wait their turn. Rogues and mages as well :P

I was going to start off as a male qunari rogue but I decided to instead play as a female human warrior first just to test the waters before hand.  After those two play throughs though, I haven't really thought of it yet.

Since this seems like a good place to ask, how would you pronounce the name Kaaras Adaar?

Female human mage. I've never been interested in playing a mage before, but with this game, it feels right.

Female Dalish (my picture)
Believes in the Maker (and maybe Elven Gods too, undecided), embraces the Herald title but doesn't claim to speak on Andraste's behalf.
Gonna be a Knight Enchanter and from the EA Access trial, so far she's gonna romance Solas.

Hope it gave you some ideas anyway.

I already had an idea for a Cadash Enforcer who idolized the Grey Wardens, a little bit older guy who would use Mace and a shield and was a Widower so he wouldn't romance anybody. First I had thought of making him a Champion as the first playthrough I will go with is a Qunari twohanded reaver.

My initial thought was that with Dwarven Magical resistance becoming adept in Templar ability would be easier for Dwarves, not necessarily be a Andrastian Dwarf.

But as of yet we don't actually know how we get the specializations, so it is all up in the air.
