Wow.....Bioware is fulfilling sooooo many Hawke-hater's fantasies if this is true. I honestly didn't expect them to.

Still, I have my doubts as to this rumor's authenticity.

How much of the 'truth' she knows is up for debate.  DA2 is told completely through Varric's story telling and we all know he likes to spin a story, Even the Devs told us not to take EVERYTHING from DA2 at face value because of this.  In one of the dev demos we hear Cassandra talking to Varric reminding him he lied to her.  What exactly he lied about is still in the air but it's something to ponder.

I said that before finding out that it is not you , as inquisitor, that carries out the sentence however it does make sense that other people around thedas would blame him for what happened since they weren't there.

I've heard that not execute, but rather allow Hawke to be executed. As for Cassandra's reverence, it looks like he's been captured by some Templar (mage, in case you sided with the Templars) group for execution.

Ah, that makes a bit more sense.  Not bad followup on that choice.  I'm guessing that's what drives Varric off (Might that depend on whether they were friends or rivals?)

I guess I should expect that to come up for my first Hawke import on the Keep.  She was Anders' lover, supported the mages, approved of his actions, spared him and ran off with him.  I can see how she'd be suspect o.o
