Just a silly, quick question:

Is the save system the same for Inquisition as it was for DA2 and DA:O? Meaning, you save whenever/wherever you prefer, in addition to auto-saves?

Yes.  Auto saves are on a timer unless something is interrupting it (like a conversation) every.... minute or so?  (it's a longer delay on 360 and PS3 as the save takes longer... you can keep playing but the game was in a perpetual state of saving I think :P )

We also have milestone saves which are not too frequent, after big story points are reached.

And then yes, manual saves.

You can't save while in a conversation/cutscene or in combat, though.

Well I hope we have that option as well as auto-saving because I plan on dying.... a lot. But I don't know, sorry. Hope someone else can answer for us. :)

EDIT: Well, there you go. Allan knows all.  ^_^

YEEEEESSSS!!!!

I thought some of the scenes where people wiped looked like FF13 where you could instantly retry a failed battle.

That's incredibly comforting. I like the idea that we aren't punished for failing; we can keep trying! :)

Hmmm is there a way to turn auto save off or extend when the game auto saves (like once an hour)

I know it's frustrating to play for 30 minutes and forget to save only for a power outage to happen but there are times when I'll play a game and will purposely limit my saves to add a challenge.

Every minute seems almost too frequent. Not much scope to go back if you messed up a dialogue choice, or need to have another go at a fight because your characters are left battered and out of potions.

Why would anyone bother with manual saves if it autosaves every minute or so?

So you can have a specific save point for one's own reasons.  Sometimes you want to replay a part easily.  Sometimes you want to keep the legacy just in case something bad happens in the playthrough and the autosave puts you in a precarious position where the manual save will save you more time rather than fast traveling back to camp to resupply.

Will there be a limitation to the number of saves we can make ? Like origin did.

If the game Auto Saves every few mins wouldnt that also mean you are more prone to Corrupted Data, say if the power goes out?

Why would anyone bother with manual saves if it autosaves every minute or so?

It depends on how many auto save slots there are.

It's not at all uncommon, for me, to get 10 or 15 minutes down the line and realize I made a bad choice, go back and reload.
Trouble is, if there's only a few auto save slots, I'd have lost the point I want to go back to.

Don't get me wrong, the frequent auto saves will come in handy for fights and such.
But I still expect to be making heavy use of manual saves before, what I expect to be, decision making moments.

How many auto-save slots are there? If it saves every minute, but there are 20 slots, that's fine, but if there's only 1 slot then the auto-save becomes pretty useless except to reload lost battles or recover from a power outage.

Is there a quick save option as well?  I'm Pavlovian in my habit of pressing F5 about every two minutes and after every battle.  And having frequent Auto and Quick saves is double insulation against a corrupted file.

The game specifically doesn't save during conversations or battle, so as long as you reload as soon as you finish up, I'm pretty sure you'll be fine. With such a short time between, I'm expecting at least three different auto-saves as well. But I will be saving regularly, I don't necessarily trust these newfangled machine-things. ;)

Can you name the manual saves on Consoles, and are they divided amidst the different characters like they are in DA:O and DA:II?

This is good to know. I can't tell you how many times auto-save has "saved" my butt.

What I want to know is if the save files will be numbered like Origins or DAII...

Having save files retain their number (save over file 1 and it's still file 1, etc) like in DAO was fine, but the number just kept climbing higher in DAII and it drove my poor OCD brain nuts. I can't explain why, just the nature of the compulsion I suppose, but it really bugged me. As did odd numbers, unless they were derivative of 5, so I'd often be saving twice in a row just so it wouldn't bother me as much - though it still did. 188 (or whatever) is an even number, but still an 'odd' one to be sitting at... to me... because I've got issues >__>

Either way, it's obviously not a major issue as far as the game is concerned, just something I'd like to know. Of course, I suppose I will find out soon enough ^_^
