Prima Game Guide - DAI Collector's Edition vs Inquisitor Edition

No one seems to be scrolling down to the merchandise thread in the general Bioware section, so I'm re-posting this question here. I hope someone is able to give an answer, before it's too late to cancel or change my order.

I was just making sure all of my pre-orders were all good to go when I noticed a discrepancy in the descriptions on Amazon. I always thought that the Inquisitor Edition of the Prima Guide was the more collectible and thus, the better item. However, when you look at the descriptions on Amazon, it says the Inquisitor's Edition has 368 closer to the top. If you scroll down a bit, it says it has 384 pages. The description on the Collector's Edition says that it has 384 pages. I went to the Bioware store to check what they say, but there the description for the Collector's Edition says it has 352 pages. I couldn't find the Inquisitor's Edition there, probably because it's sold out.

So, can anyone tell me which version of the book has more complete information and can verify the number of pages in both? I'm guessing the 3 in-game items are identical no matter which version you get, so I'd much rather get the art book than both of these guides, but I'd also hate to miss out on game/world information because of the page difference.

it is really weird since the guides have different page counts on the sites. Amazon lists two different page counts for the same book. One toward the top of the page and a different one in the more info section.

I was hoping that someone from Bioware would see this and be able to give an answer.

This might be a better question for Prima.

It says it comes with 3 in game items... but what are they?

That's been answered several places.  Look on Amazon.

NM, I guess Amazon hasn't been updated.  It's a ring, a mount, and a multiplayer chest.  Check the wiki.

Ah, thanks. Didn't realize that's what it was from. Still, doesn't look very appealing. Even the ring isn't a rare.

Oh god, I'm having horrible flashbacks of Destiny.

Is it possible that the Inquisitor's Edition is a larger book (larger dimensions, I mean) and therefore has fewer pages? It seems odd that they would change the layout, but given the price of the Inquisitor's Edition, it may be possible.

But I'm just guessing. :)

While I guess this is possible, I agree that it would be exceedingly odd (and in all likelihood economically unfeasible) to redo all the formatting. And I just don't think a physically larger book would garner that many more sales unless that meant more content. Since Prima's site says that the book that comes with the Inquisitor Edition is just a re-covered Collector's Edition (that is, a CE with literally just a different cover), it should be identical. Otherwise I think we'd have seen some advertising for the additional content and/or larger size. But I'm just guessing, too. :)

My suspicion is that retail sites like Amazon and BioWare are working with outdated information. I know that Amazon typically asks publishers for information like this well in advance of release (several months to a year, even, if they want it listed that early), and with the delay to the game itself the guide also had to be pushed back. So I'd guess that the page count on Amazon is just outdated and no one from Prima bothered to update it. That said, I have absolutely no clue what the true page count is -- Prima presumably knows, but their site doesn't appear to list it anywhere.

Not sure if anyone else has come across this but Amazon is now saying they're not sure when - or if - they'll be getting their copies in. On Tuesday I was told by an Amazon rep that my order would ship between 11/21/14 and 11/25/14. Today I received an e-mail saying that they're still trying to fill my order and it might be as late as December 14th before I receive it...if I get it at all.

I've sent a message to Prima Games for more info on this since their link to the Inquisitor's Edition guide went to Amazon.  Trying to stay positive here but if it's this late in the game, most likely all copies have been spoken for. :(

This has been discussed in a related thread in the spoilers forum (no idea why it's there, as there are no spoilers in the thread itself for the game or the content of the guide  ). Apparently Prima is saying that Nov. 25 is still their intended publication date and that Amazon is basically overreacting(?). Several people have already reported cancelling their pre-orders based on Amazon's automated email, so more may become available.

ETA: The other thread is here: http://forum.bioware...until-nov-25th/

As of this posting, there are no spoilers within to the best of my knowledge.

Thanks for the heads-up, Virtus. Not sure why or how that topic ended up in the spoilers section, though.

No problem! I think the mods just turned Scuttlebutt into Spoilers and then tried to pull a few threads into the new No Spoilers subforum. That one probably just escaped their notice. I wouldn't be surprised if there are other non-spoilery threads still in there as well.
