Good day,

I was wondering if anybody could tell me what will be my settings when I will be playing this game (low, medium or high). I looked at the minimum/recommended requirements but I don't know anything about computers and don't understand what this all mean. This will also be the deciding factor if I decide to buy it on PC or PS4. Here are the specs on my AlienWare (laptop):

  • OS: Windows 8
  • CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-4700MQ cpu @ 2.40GHz, 2.40 GHz
  • System RAM: 16 Gig RAM,
  • Graphics card: GeForce GTX 765 M
  • Dedicated Video Ram: 2GB
  • DirectX Version: DirectX 11

So, based on your opinion, should I buy this on PC or PS4 ? Thank you in advance for your help.

You should be ok. I think that looks above recommended.

Mhm. Yeah you should be fine. Maybe med or so. Admittedly I'm not a big computer guy, I'm a console gamer, but I know enough to get by.

"Notebook Check" has ranked the various laptop processors:

http://www.notebookc...ist.2436.0.html

And graphic cards:

http://www.notebookc...ards.130.0.html

I coulnd't tell you how accurate these ratings are and should point out that there may be differences between mobile and destop processors and cards. You can click on the proc /card you're interested in for details

Your card (760M (SLI version)) seems to be much higher ranked than the 660M. But notice the M. I have also read that for modern gaming it's all about the graphics card, and you can get away with a lesser processor and still get great video quality if you have a superior card. Maybe someone else can explain all that.

If performance is similar to BF4, it will be playable at 1080p around 30fps or more, medium settings with MSAA disabled.

You can check the GPU list below (link in my sig) to see how it compares, or search for youtube videos of people playing BF4 with 765M.

Thank you for the answers, I have just one last question. Does meeting the recommended specs mean that someone will be able to play the game with high settings or medium settings ?

Recommended specs are usually rather general, it depends on a lot of factors like what resolution is your display, what level of framerate you are comfortable with, etc.

In the case of DA2, the recommended specs correspond to around 1080p 30fps high settings with 4xMSAA (for BF4 performance on GPU list). Note that this is a lot more demanding than 1080p 60fps with MSAA disabled.

Probably about medium. For the record the ps4 version is comparable to high.

Thank you, I appreciate the answer. I just pre-ordered the game from Origins.

Just to be clear, your current laptop does not meet the recommended specs. You are above the minimum specs, but recommended is higher.

Your performance will likely be around as mentioned here: http://forum.bioware.../#entry17735871

Yeah. You'd probably be better off with the ps4 version.

I disagree. PS4 performance will probably be around the same as your laptop or worse (1080p, 30fps medium/low settings, no MSAA).

They have actually stated that it's actually comparable to the high settings.

Lol, I am starting to be really confused. From what I understand so far, recommended specs are comparable to high settings. I am really close to the recommended specs which mean I should be running the game between medium and high.

Is this accurate ? And what is MSAA ?

I disagree. PS4 performance will probably be around the same as your laptop or worse (1080p, 30fps medium/low settings, no MSAA).

So I guess I did the right choice by choosing to get this on PC right ? I have BF4 on my laptop and it runs on High settings.

To my knowledge devs only mentioned last gen performance will be like the low settings for PC. 1080p high settings on PC are a lot more demanding, as you can see BF4 settings for PS4 (1600x900) and Xbox One (1280x720).

We can confirm once there are some comparison videos but I'd bet it will be around medium or lower for PS4, certainly it will be 30fps with MSAA disabled.

Recommended PC specs compare to 4xMSAA which is incredibly demanding on this engine, much higher than what would be possible for PS4.

Yes, will be quite playable at 1080p with your laptop around medium settings with MSAA disabled.

You can find your GPU (765m) on the list (link below in my sig) to compare to performance in BF4, or search for some youtube videos of people playing BF4 with 765m to get a good idea how it will play.

That's not true.

TC, you'll be fine. As naughty said, medium settings shouldn't be a problem if you're not too picky when it comes to performance - you can expect a few drops here and there but it should run sufficiently at 30~ FPS.

If the recommended specs does not equal to high settings, can anyone explain to me why is there such a big difference between minimum and recommended specs ?

minimum is what will run it on the lowest graphics settings. Perhaps the same as 360 or worse.

With an M card anyway you couldn't hit high but medium is probably near to skyrim high

Inquisition recommended specs correspond roughly to cards that can run BF4 max settings 4xMSAA at 1080p  around 30fps. MSAA is very demanding in this engine, just disabling that one setting will improve your frame rate a lot.

Minimum specs for most games is usually the minimum hardware needed to run at lowest settings 1080p around 30fps, definitely with no MSAA.

You'll be fine I'd be surprised if you couldn't play on the High graphics setting.  You could probably even pick some Ultra settings

EDIT: I should note that I didn't actually do performance testing.  Just basing this on the fact that my work computer is not as good as yours and making educated guesses based on that.
