Now that all the abilities are known for Tempest, anybody else really disappointed by this?  I mean, I'm so turned off by the idea of micromanaging a series of short duration (5 seconds...8 seconds with passive and timed correctly? The hell?) buffs when I could get cool abilities that actually DO something in the game (to my enemies), that I'm questioning whether I even want to use Sera anymore, when she was going to be my go to Rogue.

None of the Rogue trees blow me away, but the Tempest tree is by far the worst specialization I've seen revealed.  Am I the only one in this boat?

Perhaps playing the game, with the abilities in context, will give a better impression of how it actually plays.

We don't know any upgrades but as it looks now ill be using flask of fire at the start of battle to get off 2 or 3 powerful abilities for free then activate flask of frost for the extra 15/30% damage from the killers alchemy passive.

Sounds the plan.
Im totally going daggers with the Tempest. Race will be either Qunari or Dwarf.
What about you?

First Play-through i have Sera as an archer tempest. On my third or fourth play-through i'll play a dagger assassin or tempest depending on which i like better, no idea on race yet.

Flask of frost is a neat elixir.

We haven't seen the upgrades to those elixirs correct? Just the base skills, the passives and the focus?

Im hoping they have a reduction in cool down time.

Can somebody link me to the place where the tempest abilities are shown? I haven't seen them yet :(

The tree looks meh to me.  Flask of frost looks decent, but I'm going to stick with assassin specialization for my rogue.

This is why I wish EA access (or a demo like last time) was available on PC.  I want to spend a bit of time with all the skill trees and test some basic stuff out before I make a final decision.

I think the Tempest tree is good.

For one, it is an actual new specialization. There are no abilities or specializations that were borrowed from previous games, unlike specializations such as Assassin and Rift Mage.

Secondly, the tree looks to be very versatile. It has tremendous potential. We have not seen any of the ability upgrades but from the information that we have, we can do plenty of things. We can get up to 85% base damage reduction or we can spam our abilities without drawing stamina for a period of time or we can have a base 60% damage increase.

All these are immensely powerful. Add this to the fact that we get AOE cloak spells, can carry more potions, can do extra damage every single time we use a potion ( think about that for a second and you will see how powerful that ability can be) and can have a chance of not consuming the elixirs you use.

Personally, Tempest is my favorite rogue specialization. Especially because it is a chemist's wet dream come true !

how useful do you suppose Tempest should be for an archer?

I'm wondering this myself. The ice flask, in particular, seems to have only limited utility for a ranged character.

On the other hand, I'm also wondering if the lightning flask will stack with the Necromancer's Haste spell? Somehow I doubt it, but that would potentially be really fun.

Everyone keeps raving about the frost flask and the damage reduction.  Why?  It only has a base up time of under 16% if used perfectly without the passive.  BEST CASE, using back to back flasks constantly, you're looking at 25% up time.....yay?  If you're an archer then this is even more useless as you shouldn't be needing it that much anyway.

I reiterate, unless there's a passive we haven't seen that MASSIVELY alters the cool downs for flasks, this spec sucks IMO.

Say what you will about the buffs, the focus powered, hyper lethal Thousand Cuts move seems amazing from the description.
