What if you have a disc version of the game?

What of it? You chose to buy the disc version. Sucks that digital purchases are being held back by an out dated supply chain model and the retailers lobby.

The thing that saddens me is that some publishers (EA, for one) still holds to the "oldenways" of doing an odd release date. It made sense 10 years ago, but not so much anymore.

There is a ton of publishers/developers who easily manage to release their products world wide, at the same time, and tbh, you always feel like a "2nd grade customer" whenever someone can get a release before you. (Besides "exclusive timed").

I havnt used vpn before, but i havnt looked this much forward to a game either...

Heck when DA:Origins came out, i preordered the game from 3 places, just so I could play the game before I went to afghan for a month... lol

Oh I didn't make myself clear. What if I got a disc version earlier than the official release date in my country. Will I still be able to use VPN.

No reason you shouldn't be. IIRC the confirmation/unlock is still done through origin if you have the disc version.

Will we have access to the day 1 patch on Monday if we do this?

Did you buy a physical copy? Sell that one to a friend or cancel / get a refund. Then buy it digitally. Totally worth it to play 3 days earlier right?

Nope :( it's a digital pre order from a gaming site.. not green man gaming but like that. I'm on my phone and can't check the name.

So let me get this straight.

I pre-ordered on Origin, and the payment is complete, I was charged and all. For this to work, do I need to do it before, during or after preload? Like, if I preload the game on, say, the 16th, then connect to South Korea on Monday, I will be able to play when it releases (which I assume is midday here on the East Coast)? Or do I need to do any step before?

Help a technically inept fan please!

This worked!

But Origin is in Korean.

I suppose I'll deal with it until after the official launch, where I will revert back to US.

Awesome, the game comes out on Friday 21 in the UK. That's good, means I don't need to skip a day off work.

Oh what, on my origin it says preload 18th, unlock on the 20th. When did this change, and why the different dates for different countries? Someone should report EA for discrimination.

Yes.

If I were you, predownload first (your connection will be optimal that way), then download the VPN, and then you'll see when you can unlock (by mousing over your Dragon Age: Inquisition icon in the "My Games" folder).

It seems that regardless of timezone, the preload time is scaled so that everyone will get it at the same time, they'll just be able to unlock at different times. Can anyone confirm this or has there been a successful preload already?

Monday 7am 17th (PST) November at North American is the earliest you can play DA:I. That's a nice 18 hours before official US release. Pre-load starts in 11 hours..

Does s.b. know the european time for preloading via korean vpn?

In Origin it says 18:00 for preload (if logged in via korean ip). I assume this is the local korean time?

I have got a very slow internet connection so i would like to start as soon as possible...

There is not 14 months in a year OP.

Oh nm... I forgot this chart :P

Spoiler

But that's bullcrap. Month>Day>Year is 1-12, 1-31, -65 million til whenever. Smallest grouping, medium grouping, largets grouping.

I am currently in China (UTC+8:00).

Local time not altered(UTC+8:00) Connected to a VPN server in South Korea. Run Origin.

Preloading time: Nov/15/2014 1:00 AM

Avilable time: Nov/17/2014 11:00PM

Changed local timezone to South Korea (UTC+9:00) Connected to a VPN server in South Korea. Run Origin.

Preloading time: Nov/15/2014 2:00 AM

Avilable time: Nov/17/2014 12:00AM

So it seems the time shown are your local time, not GMT.

Local time not altered(UTC+8:00) Connected to a VPN server in LA. Run Origin.

Preloading time: Nov/15/2014 1:00 AM

Available time:Nov/18/2014 1:00 PM

which means the preloading time is the same for South Korea and LA, however in SK the game is availble for (edited)14 hours earlier than PST

is this correct?

No, the day is the one with the most frequent change. Therefore it's the first digit. Like in case of a counter to zero, only vice versa.

Right - everyone gets to preload at the same time, no matter what region you are in. It's only the unlock part on Monday that you can do earlier.
