so you agree with this system than...all that work out the window....just poof.
i don't care at all. i will play a default setting.
however, i was expecting more from the keep. all this hype... for nothing.

Your definition of nothing has to be really amusing.
I don't get how the keep makes previous playthroughs pointless. I played Origins and II and enjoyed them and nothing can take away my enjoyment and completing those games. I'm glad they created the keep because of save import bugs. The keep is in no way replacing your hard earned playthroughs. All the keep does is to make sure that those playthroughs are carried through Inquisition and future titles correctly.
I get being annoyed that there's no way to pre-load your old choices into the Keep, but saying that the current system invalidates the time you spent playing the old games is like saying that there's no point reading a book because you could just look up a plot summary. It's meant to be entertainment, not a teeth-gritting endurance challenge.

i should remind you what bw crew said: DA keep will be a huge addition to the setting, application that will carry all decisions made, big and small. i also recall they mentioned hired investigator, to tie all loose ends of the plot.
however what we can see in the keep - could have been done on a basis of the game itself, without all this overhyped nonsense.
keep is a disappointment. i see little sense in this application, if there any sense at all.

That was for the lore not the keep.
I disagree with your opinion but don't have the time to again refute it.
The Keep isn't merely an import tool. It chronicles what choices a player made during his playthroughs of not only the last two games, but every future DA game. It's a personalized profile with more detail and customizability than the original Social Site DA:O area ever had. And a hell of a lot less fickle.
It provides bug-free imports. If the developers decide something from the old games has to come up in future games, they can add a tile and let you say what happened during your game, and see it reflected in a future game.
If you don't see the value in any of that I don't know what else to say.

ye my first reaction to the keep was the same i'm sort of over it now tho, my latest pet hate is how Europe gets the game on the 21st and america gets it on the 18th but thank god for vpn's

not in a hurry. my laptop can't handle DAI anyway.
besides when i back home i expect this game to have few patches. so i could play it without suffering majority of the problems.
It's so weird. I played the games to enjoy the games. Plenty of games have no save imports at all. Is that a waste? I never got the mentality that time was wasted due to the lack of direct save imports. I mean, whatever happened to enjoying the experience in and of itself? Isn't playing the game its own reward?
Anyhow, the Keep solves all sorts of problems and I'm happy for it.
I'm actually surprised that people have gone this long without being aware of it. It's been mentioned in just about everything Dragon Age for the last year.
From the jist of this thread, I simply don't understand any mentality that you're wasting your time now that the Keep exists. Why did OP even bother to play DA if it just for the importing. I'm sorry, the last I checked people play games because they're fun and the Keep doesn't detract from that. Picking random tiles in the Keep means nothing if you don't know the story and impact behind those choices. Random NPC could show up in DA:I and they will not reintroduce themselves since it's assumed you know who they are.

And if you're going to claim that bioware said anything I expect to see a quote or link to what they said and that information be up-to-date. I can tell you that information is out of date or incorrect. My proof is the Keep itself doesn't import choices. Some media sites have even gotten the information wrong.
As for the Keep being in game, they would have to remake the Keep structure for every new DA that will come out in the future, extra space that they could be using towards the actual game itself. Costly and ineffective. Instead of questioning the devs, why not step into their shoes and ask yourself:
If we have an import system that's buggy and the future of this franchise is ever evolving, what is the best way to maintain the integrity of giving the players their story while remaining fair, cost effective, and open to opportunity?
I think in time you would have also thought of the Keep.

Apparently some parts of Europe will be getting it on 20th, so we Brits can spend two days hating the US for getting it early and then redirect our anger at much of mainland Europe for 24 hours too.
Win, win! ![]()

no not really.
i would remove this nuisance with "player's choices" completely. because these are gimmicks anyway.
game has a canon, player can make some steps left or right in some minor encounters. however players can't actually influence the world around them.
so if choices are simply illusions - why even bother with all that?
in terms of efficiency, cost and headache - i would just remove the option of save imports.

Major plots yes it's true, being a game the overall story arc is already decided, but I wouldn't go so far as to say the choices we have are merely gimmicks, not if the continuing story of the world is important to you. Do the choices we make impact gameplay in a significant way? Not really. Do they affect the flavour of the world? I would say definitely yes. In Origins, for instance, we crown two monarchs, and decide the fate of two large groups of people, the Dalish and the Circle. Like I say, who you picked for those choices won't affect Inquisition in massive way, but seeing those choices reflected is important to the role-playing aspect of the game. If you're just in it for the game itself, then these choices are trivial
Small question: I can edit the Tapestry at any time, right? I remember most of the big decisions, but some of the smaller ones I'll have to go back and load my old save file for, which I won't have time to do for a couple of weeks.

Yes, you can keep making changes to your World State for as long as you like.
I've been tinkering with mine for a couple of weeks now. I won't be exporting it until the day before DA:I is released. You know, just in case there are any big changes to it between now and then!
Keep in mind though that once you load a world state into DAI, you can't change the variables in DAI without restarting DAI.Small question: I can edit the Tapestry at any time, right? That won't be a problem, but thanks!
You paid those $20 to play a game not to generate save games to import into another game that would invaribly be bugged and might not take any of your decisions at all.
If you don't want to pre-order the game. Fine, but the only person you are spiting is yourself. The keep is much better than any save game import
Better words were never said.
So let me get this straight, and yes im late on this (real life and all) I wont be able to import my DA 1 and 2 saves on to 3? instead I have to Guess what I did on Dragon Age Keep? how is this logical? Me Playing the game right now means absolutely nothing with all the work I and everyone else did, it seems pointless...I was so close to buying Dragon Age 2 to further continue but what for? meaningless.....im having a hard time trying to see how everyone is approving this.
Not only that but the Keep didn't even pick up my current Game, I'm playing Dragon Age: Origins / Awakening on PC from Steam, but my Bioware account is connected and has me logged in............what?
I was extremely excited now my mind is telling me to just get my Delux pre order back this is just too much.
nope not a joke , not at all , but cancelling your preorder will be.

Actually everyone should cancel their pre order.
But that's just cynical common sense ole me here who thinks paying for something before knowing what it is is kinda foolish.

But I know what it is... It's a game i'm going to play.
Is it a game I'm going to enjoy playing? I don't know. Just like I don't know if I'm going to enjoy a book, movie, or tv show without having read or seen it... I'll only know that I enjoy the game after I play it...
