So DAMP has the ability to vote kick in game.

(as revealed in the 12th Nov DAMP Twitch stream).

On balance I think the benefits of being to eject a troll outweigh the possibility of being wrongly kicked yourself.

Particularly now that you accumulate loot as it drops, you won't leave the game with nothing.

And this game looks less forgiving of having party members who want to mess around and get carried.

What do you think?

So long as BioWare put in measures to ensure that this isn't abused by trolls I'm okay with it.

Primarily measures against 3 person pre-mades being able vote kick the fourth person whenever they wish.

I also need some clarification on the fact of keeping loot and gold if you lose connection.  I originally understood it to mean you keep all things up to the point you are out of the game regardless.  However one of the players in the latest twitch added that 'as long as you get back into the game'.  Was he wrong about that or do you have to rejoin a game after getting dropped via a kick or via lost connection?

Is there a new stream? From one from 6th I understodd "Gold" items (whatever that is) are always preserved, for XP you need to rejoin.

I have not seen any Twitch Streams from the 12th. All that I have seen on DAMP however lends me to believe it requires a little more party cooperation and finesse than what ME3MP required. If you have a group and someone is not all the serious or engaged or causing your party grief, then maybe it will be a good option.

If I understand it, (evidence in both streams) if you get cut off and get back in before end of level, you get the XP for the level.

I think XP is distributed at level end.

But a loot pick-up is immediately distributed.

Where is this stream, please?

And I don't think people will troll with this kick function. They have no reason to. The loot is 'instanced'. And you also don't 'steal' their XP.

In FFXIV, the loot is not (edit) instanced, which would give people motive to troll like this. And yet, I never saw it.

The only people that would abuse this are aresholes, and given that I don't want to play with such people, I don't mind being kicked by them...

The amount of XP awarded at the end is based on the summed scores of all players. If you kick someone then you've just cost yourself (and the team) XP. The later you kick, the more potential XP you've lost.

I think it's a good balance. Being purely selfish should mean you only kick if someone is far underperforming, trolling or being abusive. Even if they're only a little under par, you're still better off carrying them to the end than kicking and getting a better player, who probably still won't get the same final score as the original player (as they entered later).

^ I hadn't noticed that. I agree. It's a cool mechanic that generates a cool balance.

Honestly there should be a way to prevent the kick from occurring if the player in question is performing well.  Giving players unlimited control will only encourage bad habits, especially when 3 friends can literally kick a player whenever they want.  I agree that the option is good for afk players or those that are leeching but there needs to be a condition for the kick other than just requiring 3 votes.

I hadn't even thought of that.  That should help some, but if the trolls are already at level 20...

I don't think people will play casual matches/PuGs with level 20 characters. It'd gimp their proggression. They'd profit more from leveling another character, in order to promote him and enjoy the bonus with his stable favorite level 20 character.

I intend to keep at least one of each class at level 20 once I get their builds figured out.  Right now, I'm thinking Templar, Necromancer, Assassin.  That way  I've got some good characters set up for when my group looks a bit iffy, or for higher difficulties.  Plus, running with a character at 20 will make it easier to win, thus resulting in a better chance of more gold and loot.  I'm guessing there's also a limit to how many time you increase your stats with promotion, otherwise you will eventually end up with characters that can just spam abilities without every worrying about mana/stamina.

I don't mind the feature so long as there is some manner to prevent abuse by a group of three friends playing together.

Also, I'm probably going to keep whichever class I deem the most potent as a whole at level 20 for those games where I get the feeling my group isn't quite up to the task, since I'm really not the sort who kicks people based on "skill" or loadout.

It'll depend on how it was implemented.

It sounds like it won't negate your progress, and if the only harm is having to find a new game, I'll certainly be able to live with it. My instinct is that I'm probably going to end up thinking that it was a bad idea. In my experience, MP games with an in-game kick have almost constant trolling (Dead Island had an epic trolling problem with the kick vote system, for example.)

But I'll wait and see how it plays out.
