Okay, so I've heard there have been problems with the latest patch or update or something (I'm really behind the curve in using my PS4 cuz it's new).

I checked my system info, and I actually have older than 2.00 (it's, like, 1.67 or something like that); will I be alright?

I'd just update with the fix-it update, but my PS4 is not connected to the internet (which is another issue) --- no phone jack and wireless apparently isn't listening.

I don't know if 1.67 will be alright, but they released the patch today that fixes the 2.00 problems

If I had to guess though it should play fine, I don't think they made the game specifically for 2.00 issues, and they've said that PS4s that's never been online can play the game.

I don't think ps4 will have any issues as long as you aren't running patch 2.0

I believe the issues were mainly caused by the patch and it has since been fixed. Not sure how your experience will be since you are running such dated firmware but I wish you the best of luck.

latest system update is 2.02 (its now out in ALL regions) PS4 version of DAI will have an issue with freezing if you don't have it.

this is due to a software bug on the PS4, Sony ensured the patch was live before AC:U and DAI were released because without it both games freeze up.

if you can't get your wireless working i suggest you pop round a mates and hook into theirs.

what exactly is your wireless issue?

I'm still nervous about 2.00 issues, or 2.01 issues, or 2.02 issues or whatever the latest crappy patch is up to. I'm actually wondering if it's possible to revert back to PRE-2.00 since I don't use any of the streaming features or themes or whatever else it added. It has had zero positive effect on my gaming at all, and now I'm reading about all the chaos it is causing with so many different games I want to play in the near future. Even when those games say they've addressed the issues, more problems are still showing up due to THOSE patches. I really hope when I get Inquisition on Friday any wrinkles have been ironed out.

It's hard to say for sure, but since 2.0 is what introduced the problems, you might be fine.  That said, Bioware will be releasing a day 1 patch, according to Polygon, so, if you can, it still might be worth hooking your ps4 up to the internet for that (and the 2.02 update that fixes the 2.0 problems) when the game is released.

The bug was introduced with update 2.00, so if they are running anything prior to that the game should run without freezing.

2.00 or 2.01 will have the game mess up with freezes and save corruptions.

2.02 is supposedly fine but I guess we'll see.

Nothing wrong with being cautious, but for what it's worth, the problem is supposedly fixed as of 2.01 (and the now-released 2.02):

However, later in the review process, Sony offered to send a PlayStation 4 containing an early version of the post-2.01 patch. We agreed to this to see if it made a difference.

The good news is: It did! We spent our last 15 or so hours with Dragon Age: Inquisition on a PS4 with the unreleased new firmware, and in that time we experienced no crashes.

Thank you for all the responses and help, everyone!

we have that information from ploygon and they are assuming the freezing issue with DA:I is caused by the same instability problems 2.00 has caused with other games. (this seems like a good call) but the fact is it COULD be caused by something else the only word we have from bioware refer's to instability problems prior to 2.02. we have no way of knowing right now if the issues are caused by 2.00 or its a firmware issue that has been lingering in the system up until now.

either way we know 100% 2.02 fixes it.

BioWare General Manager Aaryn Flynn commented on the pre-2.02 problems:

"While unfortunate timing, we worked with Sony since the issue was discovered and are committed to ensuring it does not impact players by launch"
