Video: Walk down memory lane.

Another time-killer until release. :)

I came to Dragon Age in-part for the dragons, even though there weren't that many. I think DA;O and DA 2 has some of my favorite Boss fights (dragon or no).

I also had a background in D&D-ish and party-based cRPGs and later, Skyrim.

In the end I came originally for the dragons but left with so much more.

How about you? Are dragons a big deal for you or no?

The dragons in Inquisition look a bit intimidating, in a good way.

Despite the name of the series, I never once thought about dragons before I decided to play it lol. If it didn't have dragons at all well, I wouldn't be disappointed.

Actually since i played skyrim before getting into DA, no dragons would have been a good selling point to me haha. Can I get you a ladder so you can get off my back you %$@# creatures??

Attack a sheep? Dragon Attack!

Admire the scenery? Dragon Attack!

Visit the College of Winterhold? Dragon Attack!

So no. I'm not buying DA:I for dragons.

Fair enough. There are dragon mods to add abilities and remove them entirely but I get the overkill part.

That said, among all the games depicted in the video above, I think DA had the best dragons. I'm kinda giddy about fighting the ones to come. As far as I know they aren't overkill in number. One reviewer only found a few among those that exist, I'm glad about that. I don't want to spoil it but the number of them in existence isn't crazy high.

The dragons are the least interesting thing about Dragon Age in my opinion.

I came for the intricate politics, the badass militant religious organizations, the Bolshevik Horde, the realm of nightmares, the absent creator, the pansy sparkle fingers, and the incredible(70% of the time) cast.

Yes Dragons were a factor always a factor in Dragon Age Games. The first trailer for Origins got me to want to play DA:O with that huge Dragon, Skyrim was even more fun to me then DA:O. Installing various mods made the Dragon fights extremely tough in Skyrim, and now i want more challenges. Honestly i am more interested in Dragon fights then party banter or interaction ;)

So yes i came for the Dragons and stayed for the Dragons.

Crafting and Loot to. :)

I hope you're not disappointed DWard and that there are enough dragons to keep you happy. I really love the companions, politics and story -- such I never really experienced in prior games, not to that extent anyway. I have over 1200 hours in Skyrim so get the appeal there no doubt. I was always too chicken to get the dragon combat mod but I will some day. :)  Don't laugh but I liked the dragons in the Neverwinter series too...I think that is one of a few I see missing in the video. I liked the notion of good and evil dragons.

Nope.   I have nothing against them, but honestly it was mostly the fade that hooked me.    I love the characters and such, of course, but if a particular theme was to be the hook, it was the idea behind the fade.

not into dinosaurs since I was 8 years old... actually i was brought to DA franchise by a friend, I didn't care about dragons, i had too much goblin-esque hordes of them in Skyrim (really i was more aware of giants than dragons... dragons were one of the easiests beasts to kill there and appeared everywhere)

What brought me here was the lore, the branching story (that was totally flushed  in the crappy DA2), and what made me stay was the replay value and the companions... Dragons actually made me get late in this game, i was more interested in ME at that time (and my 360 knows it)

I admit before I played Origins for the first time I did expect there to be more dragons. But I didn't play Origins for the dragons anyway!

Personally I'd prefer more intelligent dragons in video games, rather than just seeing them as fire-breathing lizards we have to kill. We had this to an extent in Skyrim and moreso in the Witcher 2. Dragons that can actually think and speak make for quite interesting characters.

I've been a Bioware fan since Baldur's Gate. And that game didn't have any dragons.  :P

I knew nothing of the game residing inside the shiny tin I had just picked up, I was drawn merely by the image emblazoned on its face and, admittedly, the exceptional price for which they were asking, due to a small dent in said tin..

I decided to ask the clerk about this "Dragon Age: Origins", a clerk with whom I had made exchanges many times throughout my history shopping at this particular GameStop, I valued his opinion greatly, so it was against my better judgement that I actually decided to purchase the game in spite of his own personal disinterest in it.

I was just looking for a decent RPG to play, cause that's what I was in the mood for, once I got home and started playing it didn't take long for me to become intrigued. By the time I had fought my way out of the Couslands Estate, I knew I'd made the right choice in buying this particular game.

Spoiler

All that being said; Here's hoping I don't have to wait too terribly long to get the spare cash to play Inquisition, I've been drooling over her for years but was too dumb to just put back the cash for it during better times.. I gotta learn how to save for the winter, so to speak x_x

Not really. I did like dragons being rare encounters only rather than common enemies though. It made it more interesting when I eventually did encounter them.

I love my Dragons. I was hopeful that they'd figure more prominently, given the series title, but I was still going to play the game regardless.

It's disappointing that all they are thus far are enemies. I expected a little more than that, but whatever.  I don't kill them on principle, if I have a choice. They're a sort of talisman to me.

It was probably 2 then but I remember having LAN parties with friends and fam at thanks giving and staying up all night and slaying a dragon. Was the best memory me and my cousin still talk about it.

I really don't care about dragons. It wouldn't bother me if they removed every single dragon from the game, chances are I wouldn't even notice.

Must chime in on the video, i cannot believe they left out Firkraag from Baldur's Gate 2 in 2000. Only the same studio making DA:I :)

Dang. After 1994, that video started skipping a lot of games with dragons. xD I see that the creators acknowledge that they didn't add a lot, so meh. Still a nice video. I didn't get into DA because of Dragons, no. But, I really like the lore of dragons in DA. I wonder if we'll ever find out where they were hiding for all that time.

That was hinted at in the comics with Alistair, Varric, and Isabella.

I came for CC, characters, epic story, romance, roleplaying, LOTR fantasy type world, choose your own adventure, that sort of thing.

Dragons are cool monsters, but, as far as I'm concerned, no reason to buy a game. Concerning DAO, the one "Andraste" Dragon was nice but I didn't like that both Flemeth and the Achdemon looked like Dragons. Since they are not, it felt like a lack of ideas.

I didn't like the Dragon fights much. Actually, the fights weren't really my favourites. There was always this yolo-behaviour where enemies just stormed blindly towards the mage that really annoyed me. Was like this in Neverwinter Nights, too I think.

Also, I'm not a fan of the camera, it uses to snap to a bad angle in most unfortunate situations. I picked up DAO so a friend of mine would finally shut up with "You need to play this!". I came for the story and enjoyed it.

Same for DA2 but I didn't finish it.

Now - I like open worlds and exploring, hoping to see some. But I won't lie, I played Mass Effect 3. It spoilt me and in truth I am here because of the Multiplayer part.
