There is no difference between the physical and digital copies.

But the basic installment happens from the discs, yes? So you can install it even if your internet is not on.

The installation will probably still have to verify over the internet, but you'd save yourself a lot of downloading. After that, it might work the same as ME3 worked: you can play without internet connection, except for stuff you obtained through Origin, like DLCs and stuff.
In some countries the physical edition may be significantly cheaper.
Or at least the same as a digital edition, so no reason not to get a physical version if you like having the disc.
DA:I is actually the first physical Bioware game I will ever own. I got the physical version for a good reason too. I have a 300GB/month data limit (Comcast lol), and I'm already buying a few digital games in November so I would reach that cap quickly by downloading so much.

Should DA digital ever become invalid and be taken offline you'd have the Disc should you decide to play it again 15 years from now. However if most of the assets are online then I guess those of us who prefer tangible ownership are boned.

Im have a dillema right now on whether to get the physical or digital copy. Consider the following factors that are tormenting me:
Internet speed: 8mbps
Estimated data to download: 26 GB
I live in: Asia
Platform: PC
Origin DL speed: not reliable in my experience..
If Digital copy: I can start preload on Nov 14. The problem is, with my speed and history of having slow DL speeds on Origin, it might take me A WEEK to finish downloading 26 GB. But if things go lucky, I might be ready to play around Nov 18-19ish.
If physical copy: I can skip the download and go straight to playing once the install is finished. The catch is; our local game retail stores cannot confirm if they will get the game on Nov 18. There's quite a bit of risk that it'll take a few days before it hits the shelves.
PROBLEM: If what this thread says is true... That the physical copy STILL requires a download (how many GB exactly?), then crap! I'm buying the digital edition right this very moment! anyone out there who can confirm if the Physical copy STILL requires a download?

I think the whole "Buy the disk but still have to install from the internet" thing is so dumb.
I myself am running on a 2mbps DSL connection, I have 2 internet options in my area. the 2mbps DSL or the craptastic Hughesnet. It took me over 4 days to download and patch skyrim using the disk due to it's massive "patch".
Correct me if I'm wrong but surely Disk tech is good enough now that we can fit well over 26gb of data on the disk for install O.o

I seriously hope so, I'm fine with a 100mb dlc and a 1gb even a 2gb patch, but a 26gb online install even though I've got the disk is the one reason I hate playing skyrim on a new computer lol

You will not get around some large downloads. I guess, like almost every other game, the release version of DA:I will be full of bugs, and therefore you will need to download some patches.
I'm buying the super expensive edition, so physical was the only way to go for me. But even if it hadn't had a ton of lovely real world stuff I'd have gone with the disc, I finally have internet after a year but only have 25GB a month :/ You don't want to know how much so little data costs, its stupid.

I like the sense of security that comes with having a physical copy of a game I genuinely want, so I tend to always buy games I am excited for in physical copies.
I have the digital copy preordered but I'll be picking up a physical copy at some point just to add to the bookshelf of games I have. I like the box. 
As far as I am aware the physical discs installs the entire game. However, you have to be connected to EA's Origin in order to activate the game via EA's Origin on the internet.

Also remember what is on the disk was printed there almost 3 weeks ago. There is going to be several builds of the game that have been tweaked after that. So yes, I would still expect a substantial download even if you bought the physical disks. Things like the VO won't be changing likely, but the actual game files themselves themselves will likely have to be downloaded anyway.
I'm buying the disks because several months ago my Origin-bought copy of DAO and DAOA stopped working. And the Wardens' Keep DLC started speaking in German. I raised a support ticket, but no-one ever got back to me. Ticket's still open. I bought the disks for a couple of quid pre-owned. I'm not going to pay Origin for another game that they can't be arsed supporting in times of trouble. And if anyone has any suggestions on making the WK DLC speak in English, I'd be grateful!

If im honest my question would have been, any point buying the digital version? ppl that bought the digital version should be able to download and play when it is first released no matter where they are from, for me thats the benefit of digital over physical, not having to wait, i just dont see any benefit that interests me over the physical copy tbh, if i got to play on 17th well now that be different
In my area we have High Speed Dial Up or Satellite and I'm surrounded by trees so Satellite is out, when my Labtop was working before my son forgot he left it outside on the patio table and it rained I would drive 15 miles to McDonalds and use their wifi connection an DL patches an transfer to disk an update the game on my main PC. Now I'm stuck with just the High Speed Dial Up.
This will be very painful when the game comes out, glad I have physical copy's of all Bioware Games, though having the disks and not actually using them to install the game and still having to DL from origin's seem's very sucky! Sigh!!
Guess I'll start another play through of Dragon Age Origins and DA2 to refresh my lore maybe by the time I'm done playing I'll have DAI installed, hehe.

Depending on where you live, buying a physical copy might be cheaper than buying a digital copy on Origin.

i picked the physical copy up at amazon for £39:99, Origin want £49:99 for digital an the psn wants £55, joke tbh
