So I've read the articles that indicate something to the effect of "there is no hard level cap - but eventually will exhaust all sources of XP and therefore there is a de-facto level cap that not everyone will hit."

However I've not seen any number that indicates what that is..

I guess what I'd really like to know is: in an average playthrough what level will people hit. In past DA titles that was about 20ish (IIRC)

But with Dragon Age's increased size...who knows, maybe this will be a little higher?

In any case my real motivation for this is to try to understand what will constitute a "full build" in terms of skill points by end game.

Anyone seen any scuttlebut that would go towards anwering these questions?

I need to know too. I need 31 points to get my character to have everything I want, I need to know if that's even feasible so I can make adjustments if needed.

Dev said the soft-level cap is around level 25-30 (so somewhat like DA2).

the soft level cap (as discussed in twitch videos) is about level 30. most people will reach about level 25-7 unless they really go out of their way for side quests.

That's the part that concerns me.  Why would we ever run out of sources of XP?  I imagine that once you achieve a certain level, not even strong, recurring enemies award XP.  That effectively creates a hard level cap, even if they don't want to call it one.  I hate the idea that at some point my character will stop improving.  Couldn't they adopt a similar mechanic as Reaper of Souls did?  Because that was awesome!  Major level-ups to the soft level cap, then un-ending, but minor character boosts afterwards.

No a hard level cap is once you reach X lvl you stop leveling period. A soft lvl cap is where you can continue to lvl so long as you find sources of Xp but as you lvl it gets harder and harder to gain XP.

Note both terms use LEVEL CAP in them. No one said or implied soft lvl cap has no lvl cap it has a lvl cap. Once the RPG modding community has this game for a year i expect mods to start to appear. (yes i know there is no creation kit which is why I say a year) Eventually content mods will appear and that will give you more xp and in a hard cap situation that wont help you but with a soft cap you could get content to raise your lvl.

Great thanks. I've watched a lot of videos - guess I missed it. As long as we are clearing 20 in an average playthrough that at least gives me a baseline.

Huh, last time I heard, I thought it was 20?

Multiplayer is 20, singleplayer is 25-30. enemies respawn, so i assume random enemies only go to around level 25, thus the soft level cap. to get the max possible level, im guessing you would level to whatever cap you could find through grinding, then do the story as it scales somewhat to your level, so it may allow a bit of extra xp late game

DLC will likely have high level content for players who want a challenge and to continue to develop their characters.
