Which Elemental Tree Will Your Mage Main In
#1

Will it be storm? Inferno? Winter?
Since elemental resistances/immunities are back, I imagine people will try to rely on more than one element--after all, can't main Inferno and have a bad time against a Rage Demon.
So what elemental tree will your mage inquisitor focus in?
I'm leaning towards Winter, myself. That crowd control.

I'm thinking Storm, it sounds the coolest, but I also want to go Necromancer, and I'm not sure if they'd work well together.

Inferno. I want to make a Pyromancer.

I'm probably going to be a Necromancer, which is a Spirit-focused tree. Therefore I want to focus on an element that fits with that thematically.
I might go for Winter, for the connection between death and cold. However, I could also go for Inferno and draw a connection between hellfire and the undead.
I think my character is going to be more of a cerebral manipulator rather than a satanic iconoclast, so I'll probably choose Winter and maybe a dose of Storm for an Igor-esque jolt of undead encouragement.

Storm. I'm so excited for that tree this game, it was kind of lame in the last 2 compared to fire and ice, but I really like the aesthetic of lightning.

Winter. That wasn't the plan for a long time, but a knowledgeable poster on here made me realize how well winter will work with my specialization.

I saw on Youtube that it is best to spread out but I don't know if that still holds true and I haven't looked closely, lately. I loved both fire and lightening in DA 2 as well as Force Mage and the Hexes. In Origins so many spells were good.
But from what I've read on the Wiki, the Necromancer has me piqued.
I've narrowed down my class to mage, rogue or 1H-warrior. ![]()
Oh wait, no rogue, Varric must be in my party.
And I guess I want Cassandra too...
I'll probably be a mage then.
Thanks for helping me solve that dilemma ...haha

Storm/Winter/Spirit mix. The only tree I plan on maxing on my PC is Knight Enchanter, who will be played as a close range support for my tank. I'll leave the high-tier elemental spells to the companion mages, who will act as pure artillery with my archers.

Winter, because it's defensive bonuses look like they will work well with Knight Enchanter.
As for your elemental resistances conundrum...
Energy Barrage. It's at the top of the Storm tree, so no need to spend other points to get it, and it works off whatever staff type you have equipped. So, just carry a few different staves and you can easily adjust to whichever type of mobs are in the area you're currently at.

I always like frost, doesn't matter what game it is or if its good or bad, I'm a frost man.

I'm planning on playing three mages(Male Human, Female Qunari, Female Elf) and each will main in one element, a specialization and Spirit tree

This, for the most part, but I went with Fire in Skyrim because it was better for raw damage and I found that things died too quickly when I used it to need much slowing. (Though I also went for Frost in Morrowind, which is a system in which Nords are entirely immune to Frost.)

Throw a fear in there and the idiots will hurts themselves by trying to run out of the cage. Don't thank me for this idea, it was someone else's... Though it was my idea to combine the 2.

Just winter, but based on my name and picture you expected that, didn't you? Refuse to use any inferno spells on my knight enchanter inquisitor, though I want the mana dump damage passive from storm, we'll see what else.

You can. They replaced easy healing with easy damage mitigation, because it's easier to control and predict the party's ability to handle pain that way.

For that you want Spirit, Knight Enchanter and Frost.

Will make for one hell of a melee build too. Knight Enchanter has a passive that regens barrier for each kill and damages enemies who hit your barrier. So as long as you get the kills, your barrier should stay up for a while. Fade Step will be like your Biotic Charge to get to enemies faster.
