I'm wondering why and when they would have separated, since

I'd presume vengeance, as that's what he'd been babbling about prior.

Depending on the circumstance, conquering Kirkwall out of vengeance doesn't make sense. Anders should either be long gone or dead by the time he mobilized his army. Me thinks it might be a normal grab for power.

Comparing Anders to Osama is an interesting idea. There are some clear similarities. Remember that before Osama became a terrorist, he fought against the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan for a decade, and returned to his homeland as a hero.

Sebastian is pretty much like your average conservative politician. If Anders is Osama, there are some obvious comparisons for the Mage-Templar war and the invasion of Kirkwall.

My Hawke was Kirkwall's champion: not its judge, nor its executioner. I wasn't the one to make that call.

You were given that power when Meredith deferred to you.

Have to say I'm sad about the state of your romance companion from DAII. My Hawke romanced Merrill and to hear she stayed behind wasn't what I'd been hoping for. She doesn't have to show up in Inquisition but that would've been a bonus. Still, something other than that would've been nice for the romanced characters at least.

I suppose there's always DLC for that stuff. Maybe a story DLCthat possibly allows old companions to appear for a bit.

Oh, he was still a terrorist then. The only difference is he was our terrorist. :P

Same. wtf if that isn't the biggest slap in the face to the people who bothered with DA2 to start with.

To be fair, the Warden isn't with their LI or at least not shown with them.

So they didn't single out Hawke.

Not really. There have been intentional efforts after 2001 to broaden the meaning of terrorism to include basically everything someone doesn't like, but the Mujahideen of Afganistan weren't terrorists in the 1980s. They were a resistance movement backed by Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and the US, fighting in an open war against the Afghan government and its Soviet supporters.

Terrorism is fundamentally a peacetime activity, a crime committed by civilians. It's about creating fear through violence (or the threat of it), in order to advance a political agenda.

To be fair this is well within the first three or four hours of the game so it could evolve further as things progress. Yes, I'll admit I'd prefer to hear it up front instead of always wondering if it would be acknowledged ( *cough* Kelly ME3). I mean, Seb did apparently did decide to do something within the time from us talking to Varric at Haven to whatever timeline has us in the field there. So it's possible (however slim) that our LI could too.  I did glimpse the Hawke spoiler within this thread and quickly moved on before reading much so perhaps there will be something tied to that.

I'd rather he make his own team of Basterds.

"Each and every man under my command owes me ONE. HUNDRED. SLAVER. SCALPS. ... And I want my scalps! And you will get me one hundred scalps from the heads of one hundred dead slavers. Sound good?!"

Yes, you are. Everyone one else is ether mad with power or too into themselves to use it.

You have a point, but I doubt they had the same notions of guilty or innocent as you or I.

Damn, maybe I should have killed Anders after all. Still, Kirkwall needs a ruler, and there are worse ones than Sebastian.

I agree. Isabela would be a terrible ruler. Aveline however would probably be a fantastic ruler.

Even if she creaks like a rusty hinge.
