Knights of the Chalice is a really good TB rpg that uses the 3.5 D&D rules, via the open games license.
When was the release date on that?

If you are going to include pre-nwn games (which are BG and torment I assume?) maybe you should allow neverwinter and even dragon age origins (not sure about DA2 & DAI) and Kotor 1&2 as they basically use the same battle system (turn based masked as real time).
No

2009, I believe
this might be off-topic but what do you guys think of the DLC content hidden in the new DA:I game?

I'm not aware of any.
Congrats for making it to over 800 posts with that user ID! ![]()
Critics of ME 3, DA 2 and even Origins which clearly shows the progression of this practice, were browbeaten by fans and games media for being whiny and entitled.
EA, as a large corporate entity, will always push the envelope when it comes to monetisation and/or control of IP.
The onus is on the consumer to push back when these practices go too far. There was not enough pushback against EA for these practices in the past. Maybe things will change with the next game.
More disturbing to me is the DRM DA:I uses. The potential to damage hardware of people purchasing the game legitimately only encourages pirating the game once it's cracked.
You make me sound really smart for actually waiting a week or two to see how the game turns out before buying it. Too bad I wasn't that smart the last two times out!
Oh, and happy birthday you crazy Aussie bastard!

It's actually MY birthday! "11/19"
But I expect nothing...
Civilization V: Brave New World...
Never play it on (6) Emperor difficulty...
I picked Bismarck last night and had 4 good cities. I also had more than 5 units converted to German Army (thanks to Germany unique ability).
But wait... after 150th turn, my neighbor 'Oda Nobunaga' attacked me with so many units, I killed half of them but at the end they razed my south eastern city and at least 1/3 of their first army is marching towards Berlin.

The Iron Chancellor would be displeased with you.
^ 6th difficulty is like one level beyond Insanity!
Actually I survived, rebuilt that city, made alliances with Ottomans and Huns and made Japanese weak. Being 9th between 12 countries is quite an achievement in this difficulty!
Space Hulk Ascension seems like a good tactical turn based strategy:

OK, but why not. Unless you're saying that BG and PS:T are out of scope too.
I'm going to put in a word for Imperialism 1 and 2. Definitely a different take on the genre.

Because they're RtwP and not TB. Come on, you know this.
There's an RPG based on the Spanish expedition to the new world?
Shut up and take my silver!

Of course. But you didn't say exactly what you were saying "No" to, and the OP specifically ruled those games in by specifying "Early D&D games (Pre NWN1)."
I'll give OP the benefit of the doubt and assume he/she was referring to AD&D Gold Box games and Dark Sun.
Ya'll need to play Dead State.
It's not perfect, but damn do I love it, and the dialogue in it always manages to get me.
"Hey, do you like this girl?"
"I'd destroy her like she was a wall, and I was the Kool-Aid man."
Wow I failed at turn 340 cuz Ottomans and Incas started attacking me ( they had Bombers, Infantry and Destroyers, I had Riflemen and Ironclads. I had 780 points, while Inca had 1500.
(6) is stupid, moronic, impossible, waste of time.
So I continued my (5) difficulty Greece and I rule half of the world.

Official release is tomorrow.
What I wouldn't give for them to bring back the old turned based battle system to the new final fantasy that they used in final fantasy 10. I want to plan out my moves damn it, not button mash like a crazy person!

This is Witcher/Dark-Souls syndrome! Adapt or go play Space Hulk Ascension!

Never! True turned based gameplay for the win!

What happened to Dead State?
and this epic Russia should not be ignored!

For the first time I played a Final Fantasy game (VII) today and found the combat very enjoyable. The story looks weird though. Should I destroy all 8 Reactors?!

Lately I've been playing nothing but XCOM: Enemy Unknown with Enemy Within, partly because I'm taking notes for a project I'm working on, and partly because I'm trying to get the "A Continental Fellow" achievement.
This effort has been greatly helped by my recent discovery that you can edit much of the game through its ini files, which I promptly used to replace its stupid randomised Will progression with a flat progression that adds up to 120 at Colonel with Iron Will, thus eliminating about 90% of the save scumming I used to have to do and allowing me to field more than two non-Colonels for later missions. In other words, allowing me to save a lot of time and growling at the monitor and just enjoy the damn game.
Done: South America's "whatever looks cool" squad, North America's MEC squad and Asia's psionic assault squad. To do: Europe's gene assassins squad and Africa's "best of the rest" squad.
Anyway, Sid Meier's Starships has been announced. Looks nice, but I guess this means I'll have to wait a bit longer for the Civ: BE expansion.
