Same as Templar thread.

Discuss Lore, Skills, Builds, Suggestions.

All about Champions. Go!

I wonder if 2H Champ can be good. Super sturdy aoe/cc machine? But probably low dmg.

Could be more balanced.

I always figured:

Champion + weapon & shiled + vanguard = maximum defense with minimum damage

Reavaer + two handed +battlemaster = maximum damage with minimum defense

Everything inbetween can be viable and sacrifice damage for suvivalability or vice verca

I haven't specced it all out yet but I'm thinking of going heavy Battlemaster/Champion on my 2 Hander. I want to make him a Guard machine and then Between Cass and me we can handle most of the CC and battlefield control, leaving my Mage and Rogue to focus more on the dps. If that works out, my main party is goping to look a lot different to what I had thought.

Might have a place for Dorian after all :)

I honestly dont know how you could pick anyone else for the tank. After reading these skill builds the champion looks completely indestructible. Sorry Cass, Iron Bull (though im not sure bull is a tank as such)

if I'm reading it right, one of champion's skills provide 8 seconds of total invulnerability. Best. Tank. Ever.

Yeah, I'm gonna try to go in between with a Sword & Shield Champion with a mix of Strength based Battlemaster and Vanguard abilities. I'll see how high my damage output can be with high strength armor, Cutting Words, It'll Cost You, Coup de Grace, Crippling Blows. I could do a To the Death, then incapacite them and detonate a combo. Or if it's a strong warrior, roll away and come back with a Great Lunge.

I may be looking at these skill trees too much.

Basically Blackwall is Tryndamere.

Equip with 2h sword. Use immortality ability and passive. Enjoy being absolutely mindlessly broken.

sadly reaver has always be a tank... just look at the stats given in DAO:

Bonus in constitution and physical resistance

compared to Jack of all trades DAO Champion's bonuses on willpower and cunning (both abilities not very usefull for a warrior) you can see that a better built for a tank is reaver/templar instead of Templar/champion

DAO stats are a little irrelevant for DAI I'm afraid.

DAI Champion Passives all add Con

DAI Reaver Passives add Str/Cun

DAI Templar Passives add Str/Will

Best thread on this forum by far! I'm glad someone made it now we can talk shop without having to filter through the marshmallows talking about their lightshows. Walking fortress is AMAZING! Invunerability for 8 seconds every 32 seconds with no stamina cost.....ummm yes please! This combined with To The Death is amazing. While trying to come up with a build for my tank I'm haven't figured out how many taunts we'll actually need. I'm totally using to the death since it seems to keep the mob taunted til you move out of range. I may not use it every battle but there will be quite a few scenarios I can see it being useful. War Cry is also needed for a main tank IMO but what about challenge? It is a single taunt but it is ranged. Three taunts seems a bit overkill since we can only map 8 skills.

I know what you mean, I'm in danger of TAUNTING ALL THE THINGS!

For plot reason Cassandra is perma-party other than Companion quests for IB and Blackwall, so my concept is she handles AOE taunting and mobs, where as my 2 hander Champ is more single target focussed. I'll be taking on the Boss while Cass deals with his minions and my rogue and mage slaughter everyone.

Not sure if thats a viable plan yet as I haven't really crunched all the abilities but there is no way I'm not goign Champion. Champs are The Makers Tank.

I want to make IB as my tank but from other threads people have said this is not really a good option?

I have no idea how to even start a build could someone help with that please? I have never played DA before so I am just choosing by instinct as in what I like rather potentially what maybe practical.

I am looking to have a 2h warrior myself not sure which spec yet, Sera and Solas as my main party members.

I will reply when I can as I am out & about tonight.

I think with devour in his reaver tree and his lifesteal options if you give him abilities with guard in them he will be able to take hits that pierce through guard and then restore health very well.

So I disagree that my husband will be bad at tanking.

Specialisations are the sauce, not the meat of the build. Block and Slash from 2handed plus upgrade, plus the left hand branch of the vanguard tree will serve him well, generating a lot of guard. When that geys depleted anf he starts to take damage, his Reaver abilities will kick in replenishing health.

Can also spec him S+S too. Just cos Marketing says hes a two hander....

Think IB will make a fine tank

Really? My 2 handed Reaver was simultaneously a tank and an unstoppable DPS machine. Let his health go down to about 25% and he just starts murdering everything. Looks to be similar in DAI.

Is his right arm a lot stronger than his left arm?
