At first I was put-off by Cole's look too, but knowing who he is in Asunder helps a great deal to make him immediately far more captivating. Just the fact that he's a spirit from the fade like Justice (maybe?) is enough to make me interested. There's such a huge degree of mystery around those beings and I find their motivations often more nuanced than demons. Also Cole's empathy powers are bound to be quite an asset for the Inquisition.

Ohhhhhhhhh.  That's why he looks like he's one foot into the grave already.  I'm not into the books on DA, but this tid-bit of information explains a lot.  Thank you.

Well he has the mind of a child. It would be too awkward. And in his banter with Solas, Cole didn't seem to have any interest in women, or any desires for that matter. Cole's answer to the question was a simple "no."

Agreed. When I read the little blurb about him that Bioware put out I couldn't help but wonder if they found some random thirteen year old to write it.
