He will be fascinating character to deal with and have around.

I don't like that pushing him towards being more human seems to be the rivalry path that nets his disapproval. Why is it a bad thing to want him to fit in?
Because he does not want to. Trying to force somebody to do something they don't want is not nice.

He had the mind of a child in Asunder. He's grown up a bit since then. Now he's an adorable angsty teenager. Corpse-like or not he's still way more attractive than Iron Bull or Blackwall and he doesn't have a creepy moustache like Dorian

no he is a spirit that is more or less mimicking the form of the once dead cole and plus he inherited his memories as well.
Why does he look so...moldy?

Cause he is not human? He is a spirit.

So he just doesn't know that humans aren't supposed to look decomposed when running around or..?

Well who knows maybe the Mimic was not perfect its meant to show that he is not exactly "normal" so speak but he is not a moving corpse.

Spoiler
I've never seen his age given in concrete numbers, he appears closer to 16/17. And romance doesn't mean ****.

I don't mind cole because he just want to help stop the pain of the world.
His entire life in the Mortal world all he see is pain from the evil acts of other people and all he wants is to make it stop because he can hear their pain in his head.
So he wants to end all the pain in the world by showing the world what pain is? Where have I seen this before?

Because you are trying to keep him from returning to the Fade, his actual home and where he belongs.

He actively wants to stay in the human world and help people. I don't see why "becoming more human" necessarily means "being normal" - I see it instead as trying to get him to stop considering himself to be apart from people, because that isn't healthy.

Evangeline describes him as a young man of twenty in the letter she wrote herself to remember Cole.

Thing is, he never will fit in. I think it's wrong to force him to be something he's not. He's not a live person, and he never will be. He's not even technically "alive" like us.

He still looks like a corpse. If that attracts you then cool but don't expect Bioware to cater to that.

well, that's true now, but who knows? he's the only fade being in the entire world that manifests as something unique as opposed to an eldritch horror/sylvan or abomination. he just sorta showed up looking human. also i forgot how to spoiler tag stuff help!

You can drop the tag in here. Since there is "spoilers" in the title.

well in that case Solas confirms that cole is 100% spirit! no human at all, so he's utterly unique. he has a body, if he weren't so very obviously a fade creature(speech etc) than he could pass as human. who knows, he could even be human if he thinks of himself as one.

Just stop talking, it's not gonna happen in-game. If you wanna romance someone with the mind of a child, write a shitty fan-fic about it.

Is he the 'Anders' of this game? Possessed nut who isn't capable of controlling his spirit?
*facepalm*
Oh well I just hope he isn't a whiny brat like Anders was.

anders couldn't control the spirit, and cole is a spirit. Complete different. And from what I've seen so far Cole is also a lot less whiny. I can't want to speak more to him ingame and learn about him.

Cole seems to be a mix of Branka & Anders, except the fact that, he's a spirit, not merely a host. I appreciate the character design enough to say that he definitely will *not* be a bench-warmer with my party. I would love to hear the party chatter with both him & Sera in it. Moreover he's bound to have some moral choice somewhere during the main story cutscenes & I definitely do not want to miss that.
As for romance, I'm not sure. Sera is pretty enough to be my female inquisitor's main LI, and after that, who knows?
Cole just seems to be like a memory of an old sophomore crush, a memory long gone.

You don't seem to get that the way he looks has nothing to do with his mind. And it doesn't matter what romance means. if the person is not capable of understanding it, then you shouldn't do it.

Everything I've seen of Cole as he appears in DAI he is no more "child-like" in his understanding of things than Merril was. His personality was a bit childish in Asunder but he wasn't exactly mentally disabled, and again he's changed and grown since Asunder. I haven't spoiled myself much so I don't know by what degree yet but he comes off as emo teenager (and looks it too), not confused prepubescent.

Except that there's banter with him and Solas where he says that he doesn't know what attraction is. I don't know how childish he is in other areas, but that's kind of a deal-breaker. You can't really engage in a sexual relationship if you have no idea what that is.
