It was murdered, violently.

Apparently they released the second video too early and killed all mention of it from youtube. *shrug* Looks like we'll have to wait until tomorrow or something.

It is official then. Everyone in DAI is a mage. Those rogues and their teleports and summonig ghosts, it looked like they got the time stopping spell form Baldur's Gate  too.  Warriors create invisible walls and use devine energies, they are almost priests.

None of it makes sense in lore-wise...

But, hey!

Gameplay trumps lore in an RPG a hack&slash.

They should really stop calling Dragon Age an RPG and call it for what it really is shaping to be: hack&slash that wants to be an MMO. Then people who want to play RPGs won't bother wasting their time with Dragon Age because they are obiovusly not the target audience.

My warrior in Dragon Age: Origins was able to fire an arrow that split into multiple pieces that unerringly struck every nearby target and stunned them. No lore justified this. My abilities were governed by stamina, and I could be so drained, so utterly exhausted that I could do nothing but make basic attacks, yet I would somehow become refreshed by killing foes, despite the continued efforts of battle. Perhaps we should discuss how I could compel enemies to abandon all semblance of strategy and attack me simply by assuming a "threatening posture." I won't even go into the Awakening abilities, which were even more unrealistic.

I didn't mind any of this at all. In good games, irrespective of genre, gameplay comes before lore. My warrior in DA:O was a mage, under your definition, and I didn't mind a bit.

You may as well call Arcane Warriors, Warriors. And you kinda can. Because 'classes' are just useful terms, not absolutes.

My warrior literally shouted people to the floor.  That's like the Thu'um in Skyrim.

Hey -- that's, like, your opinion, man...

Most RPGs nowadays implement these kinds of flashier abilities anyway; it's usually hard to notice that because (1) they're part of the lore or (2) gameplay mechanics slightly cover for them. Plus, I'd rather have my Warrior spawn a multitude of dopplegangers than having him just hack and slash at a target.

I make it a rule not to use abilities that flagrantly violate lore, and it looks like there are lots of those.

I've been playing rpgs of one sort or another since I was 14. Im now 42. I think I've earned my rpg stripes.

Please don't claim to speak for me Kleon. I define my rpg experience by playing a character in an alternate world using the rules of the game, not by the way the animators graphically represent the abilities I use.

Its an rpg to me.

I had already planned on playing as a dual-wielding assassin for my first playthrough, and this video has made me even more excited! At what level do specializations unlock? I know I'm going to enjoy the early game, but I just can't wait to put some points into that tree!

You have to unlock them through a quest like in DAO, don't know if there is a minimun level. Maybe some you can unlock earlier than others depending on plot choices you make through the game.

I believe I heard somewhere that you don't unlock specializations until at least level 11.

Knight Enchanter or Reaver.... damn I can't decide and now with those video it just made it even harder to choose.

I'm still between warrior and knight enchanter. I'll probably go with reaver and use enchanted blades for the magickal look.

Oh boo hoo. They have some flashy effects and abilities and that makes it not an RPG? Whop-dee-******-doo.

Agreed, game looks much better and exciting for it too, at least imo.

Origins combat was boring, DA2 was annoying due to waves/health scaling. DAI looks to easily have the best combat.

I'll start as a mage. Not sure which one. Probably the rift mage. Not the necro.. not a fan of necromancy. Knight enchanter looks cool to.

Knight Enchanter looks so cool. Can't wait. Reaver and that dragon claw thing looks pretty sweet too.

Spirit Blade is left handed??

Ugh...

No offense meant to you south-paws, but that's going to be a weird animation for me to watch.
