Hey. My pre-load said it required about 44GB on PS4. But the actual download was of only around 5GB. Now... the system storage says 44GB. So, I'm confused.

Are they saving some space in case you wanna buy DLC?

Is the 5GB a super-compressed file?

Or, what I fear, will I have to download more stuff, when the game is released? Kinda like: "you can only play the prologue, while the rest is still downloading". This would kinda betray the purpose of pre-loading, wouldn't it? <_<

Is it bad that my first thought was if I could start datamining the pre-load files?

You have one job: DATAMINE EVERYTHING.

The 5GB are the initial install. The rest of the 44GB are downloaded in the background, but you could start playing with the 5GB

Thanks. However, were the 44GB that are download in the background already downloaded?

Can I only start playing the game, or do I already have the whole game? It would suck to being able to start playing MP right away, for instance. Or to start the campaing and need to stop at a certain point, 'cause there'd be the need to download more files. -_-

I don't know where exactly you can see how much is actually downloaded, check the HDD info I guess. You don't have the entire game though, so its possible that you get stuck in a loading screen for some time because some file isn't downloaded yet.

guess I got in early on the pre-download because I was done pretty damned quick. now I just have to wait for the game to time unlock sadly.

I think your download was finished quickly because it was just of a small portion of the game. Most of it will have to be downloaded upon rlease. I'mma be so mad if I can't play MP right away. :(

With Shadow of Mordor, it was quite similar. First you get a file of a few GB. It allows to play the prologue while you wait for the rest of the game to download. The problem is: the prologue is quite short. So you end up needing to wait. I'm fearing this need to wait will happen to Inquisition, too... and that it might be a very long wait, because Inquistion is almost twice the size.

Nope. it's the full thing. 25.3G which is what is listed as the full size for the PC version.

So... the people who pre-loads on PC gets 25 GB, while the ones who pre-load on PS4 get 5GB?

I'd like to know how big was the file that people had to download to play the EA access trial, on XBone.

Maybe we will just need a very very small file of maybe 2-3 mb to be able to play the game on release hour.

But i heard people on XOne got a download of 44 GB.

We need to check it out because some people are having different sizes.

the download for EA Access on Xbox One was 41+ GB.  Multiplayer wasn't available as an option until later in the download, so I would venture a guess that the initial install would have to be close to finished before you can venture into MP on the full release.
