2(or 3 If you count Gamestar who werent really that critical about the Story just the "safe" ending)Reviews out of what?

25?

why focus on these two?... besides it still got very high scores in this reviews.. so it cant be THAT bad otherwise they had to drop the rating

Because I think people are running out of things to complain about and need some kind of drama on the forums.

I'm pretty sure people project the game's other faults on their perception of the story.

which is sad given that DA2 has a much tighter and immersive story than DAO.

Everything has been done from unsympathetic cliche villains to sympathetic woobie villains. Harry Potter itself copied General plots from similar books published fifty years beforehand.

It's a BioWare game, the last time they tried to do an original story they ended up with DA2... And the reviews were worst on that.... So yeah... I'll take cliched every-time.

Bioware plots have always sucked.

They used to be schlock, after ME3 and DA2 I'll settle for schlock.

Better than anything DA was able to come up with storyline-wise. ME2's story suffered in connection to the entire trilogy as a whole, but as a standalone game, the story had merit on its own. ME2 is the best ME game out of its series.

Yeah doing errands and daddy issues is a great story.

Ghost - Sam Wheat (Patrick Swayze) on critics: "Molly, the "New York Times" is just some frustrate little critic with pimples on his ass who flunked out of art school. So who cares about what the New york times says."

Judge for yourself, don't rely on critics. They're getting paid to judge games, good or bad.

This exactly.  I want them to get back to games that are less about plot and more about people.

ME2 had superb story with amazing characters and absolutely epic ending which was open enough for the next game in the series.

BTW Cliffhanger again? wtf...

People were expecting closure and answers to questions they've had since Dragon Age Origins. Instead, you're left with a cliffhanger ending, stringing you along into a possible future expansion and/or Dragon Age 4.

The only real cliffhanger endings in DA revolved around the fate of Flemeth and Morrigan's baby.

They exist in all BioWare games to a greater or lesser extent.

The thing is BioWare has never done story really well anyway. Characters are where BioWare shines. Even at their best the story takes a backseat to their best villains (Irenicus, Master LI, Loghain). It's the characters that keep a good portion of their fan base coming back not how good the overall story of the game is.

BioWare has often recycled the same plot in their games: gather these words of power and defeat the big bad, gather these star maps and defeat the big bad, find these beacons and defeat the big bad, find these experts and defeat the big bad, use these treaties to gather an army and defeat the big bad. Dragon Age II is the exception here and a good portion of people hated it so BioWare has gone back to gather x and defeat the big bad.... and people still complain about it? *sigh*

We should start a thread complaining about the people who are complaining about complaints in the complaints that complain.

If I, at any point, can complain to my companions about how every faction is deciding now is the perfect time to enact their little war games - this will be the best Bioware story ever.

Of all time.

Let's just say I disagree. I love the game, but the main story was very weak.
And also, the game did end with a cliffhanger.

ME2 had superb story

I dunno, the whole a-team thing and splitting up the scoobygang kinda made me groan ... then again, not as much as ME3's introduction of a McGuffin 5 minutes in and it's diablo ex machina, ME3 really made me appreciate ME2's story telling (minus Arrival, which I count as part of ME3).

I'm not sure why anyone was expecting any closure as there was absolutely no indication any of the big questions posed in the first two games would be answered in DA:I
