Are you a ten year old or something? Is it huwting your feewings? I'm not swearing, it's a goddamn turn of the tongue to add emphasis to the crappiness of sony created drm solutions.

You're not hurting my feelings. You're simply disobeying forum rules. Read them.

I'll discuss it again if I want to. Your post adds nothing, also please avoid double posting. Want to police others? Send a pm.

My apologies for double posting, I find it easier but I'll refrain in the future since I know people find it annoying. What I meant by my post was that people should read through the thread, or at least the first few pages, before repeating elements of a topic that has already been discussed. Finally I "police" on the forum because I'm trying to draw people's attention to the forum rules which it seems not everyone has read.

And both of you are having a needless argument that will probably get the thread locked.

Indeed and I'm sorry for starting this.

Denuvo is DRM because EA's legal documents label it as such. Specifically, EA claims that tampering with Denevo is a violation of license because it's a technical protection measure under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.

There's a nifty feature on this forum that replaces swear words with stars, it works well.

I'm aware of the filter but it doesn't seem to be working for your posts. Regardless this is irrelevant now since your posts have been modified.

Just to be clear, this post is not me complaining or anything.. this is me just stating the facts.

[1] DRM and anti-tampering technology are not one and the same.
[2] The game would have better performance if Denuvo wasn't used (whether that performance is noticeable or not is up for debate).
[3] When the pirates "eventually" manage to crack that new anti-tampering technology, pirated copies will have better performance than those of paying costumers.

Blasts from the past:

[1] AC2 was not 'fully' cracked until a full year after its release, during which legitimate customers couldn't play for certain times because Ubisoft's servers were hit with constant DDoS attacks.
[2] Remember StarForce, SecuRom and the Sony rootkit fiascoes?

Bottom-line is, it might not get pirated anytime soon, it might get pirated tomorrow... the only ones who suffer are the legitimate customers.

I guess its a good thing that Denuvo doesn't do ANY of the things that the examples you listed do, then.

Do we know exactly how stable Denuvo really is? It's done by Sony DADC, the same company who did SecuROM, and SecuROM had a bunch of issues. It wouldn't uninstall itself even if you uninstalled the game and it would not let you run a game if certain legimate networking settings were enabled in Windows Vista.

Even if there are no performance hits (unlikely considering the mechanism used by Dunuvo), I'm still unconvinced that Dunuvo doesn't have a number of software bugs/edge cases.

I'm a bit torn by this, but I'm a big enough fan of DA:I that I won't cancel my pre-order.

Did this actually negatively affect LOTF/Fifa 15? From what I heard those games ran fine

Lords of the Fallen is poorly optimized across all systems so blame can not be placed there. Unless of course you believe the developer trying to explain away his poorly optimized game.

No idea on FIFA 15 since I can't stand sports games.

LotF and FIFA15 are the only two big-name games that have used this recently. FIFA15 runs fine on PC, I've seen it run on several of my friends PCs with no problems.

LotF has a lot of issues, but it's got those issues on all platforms, so the game is just poorly optimized.

But this is the internet, so we'll just go with OMG, DENUVO IS GONNA RUIN MAH GAEM.

Yeah. Looks like Inquisition has already been cracked too. I've bought it so I wouldn't know if it works yet.

This thread really should be closed. The developers have made a statement and that's all there really needs to be said; the discussion is devolving into paranoia and needless frustration.

A legal definition and a technical one aren't the same thing. And an claims made by a legal department that aren't tested in court should always be viewed with some scepticism.

That's not to say that it isn't DRM - I'm very much ignorant of the technical realities.

It hasn't been cracked. They uploaded the pre-load data but the crack is still WIP, and unlikely to be cracked any time soon.

where is it preloaded? stupid origin reseted itself in night and i'm starting from zero again...

Benchmarks are still showing the game is running fine. It is more than likely that whatever useless background processes a typical user has in Windows will use more resources than Denuvo.

THIS.

I am thinking about canceling my preorder as well.

Not DRM per se but DRM for the game's DRM does it really matter? Can you positively say it doesn't affect game performance at all?
I am growing increasingly frustrasted with these futile attempts at what? Protecting the first few week's sales? Sooner or later the game will be pirated.
Nowadays it seems only CD Project gets it - these protections hurt the paying customers and I would gladly support them by getting more than one copy of The Witcher 3.

Cheers!

It's impossible to say whether anything impacts performance concretely at this fine a level. PCs are way too modular in the hardware and software they're running to standardize how people want.

It could as easily be entirely a software difference that leads to performance issues even on two almost identical machines (e.g. someone didn't update or did update a driver).

Not cracked, SKIDROW torrent is just the game files without a crack, just like their FIFA15 torrent.

Also

This thread.

Denuvo is not encrypting the game files, just Origin, it's a tool to protect the DRM, Origin and not a DRM itself. I really doubt you will lose performance with Denuvo. I play FIFA 15 perfectly (ultra) in my low end laptop (GT 740m), and it uses Denuvo.

BUT MUH LORDS OF THE FALLEN!one!!1!

Lords of the Fallen is just poorly coded, every platform is having performance issues with this game.

Cancelling a preorder just because it uses a tool to protect the game that you've paid seems really stupid.

Some reviewers claim the game is running fine on Ultra without any new drivers.

So by adding an additional software (Denuvo) are you not accomplishing just that? More opportunities for performance issues?

Guys, DAI isn't cracked and likely won't be for many months to come. FIFA 15 and LotF have still not been cracked, so... there you go.

No, no and no. I usually shut down all the nonessential processes while playing. Some of us just don't have the newest gaming pc-s available so yeah every 5% matters for some of us you know.

As long as DRM has absolutely 0 impact on actual customers, and I mean 0, not even an annoying splash screen at the starting load screen, then I have no problem with it. Otherwise, blyet. It will be cracked eventually, and it'll just annoy consumers.
