So what does that do? Freeze the game, or quit it? Overrun saves? Make it laggy?

I'll eventually but a console to play inquisition but that won't be for awhile, so if it's playable on PC I'm getting it. I'd just like to know if it is playable. If the game gets a little buggy and annoying I can deal with that

Using up CPU cycles could make the game laggy and lower it's overall performance.

There are no one that knows. Lords of the fallen uses the drm and someone started a rumor that all the problems that game has is because of the DRM. Ignoring that the console version also are having problems etc.

Okay, so nothing serious in my mind then. Annoying, but I'll survive.

I am so technologically challenged it's not even funny, thanks for clearing it up guys :)

Ah man I so hate this form of protection as it truly does only scr*w people who by it as I still remember the time I had just moved and had not yet got internet sorted and had pre-ordered a £40 game only after installing it to be be told I had to activate it online... Let's just say I never bought a game from that company again as I was so furious it still angers me to this day! Especially because I didn't have much money at the time and sacrificed some luxuries to get it but man that was a d*ck move. This news especially saddens me as I have pre-ordered the £130 Inquisitors edition and even the Inquisitors game guide (despite not using game guides) because I really wan to show my support to Bioware now I have the means to do so.

Anyway a damn shame really as for RPG games I believe CD Projekt RED has proven that it is more effective to respect your paying customers rather than limiting them to stop pirates for a short time.

Anyway I better not be playing and then due to the internet cutting out I have to stop playing as no matter how much I love and respect Bioware if that happens they will be dead to me (financially speaking anyway) until another Publisher takes over from EA

Ah man this is bumming me out time to go watch the Breach trailer and get pumped up again :)

It only says on the store page online activation at time of installation. I don't believe it was mentioned a constant internet connection was needed for this game. I can see things like Dragon Age: Inquisition services like Dragon Keep to keep track of your decisions.

is 100% guaranteed that this will ruin my game?

Publishers and developers know very well that their games will be pirated, but the purpose of DRM isn't to prevent piracy--it's meant to delay it. Games make the most returns in the first two months of release; if DRM can delay the inevitable crack for two months or more, then it has served its purpose in the eyes of most publishers and developers. That's why it's still a thing, and it will continue to be a thing as long as idiots out there insist on having something for nothing.

No. It's never going to help it, but no.

Unless the game is completely online, pirates can't be stopped. DRM will only drive people to piracy more. Blizzard does this unashamedly by making all their games completely online on PC. I'll look for another hobby the day games become completely online.

I get the feeling that this is freaking out over nothing, so I'm not worried for now.

That's the sense I'm getting, I guess we will see. If the PC version is unplayable I'll be mad but it sounds like it just is not great

Denuvo is a DRM or  anti-circumvention implementation as they called it, used to protect the exe and it comes with a cost of 1-5 % performance and the reason denuvo is gettin used in more games is because as of yet it hasn't been cracked, fifa and lords of the fallen dont have a crack yet

Is it true that DA:I uses Denuvo DRM?

I just read this on reddit, wondering if it is true. I hope not!!

Lord of the Fallen had really bad performance and bugs due to this DRM. And this essentially means a big no to modding :(

Denuvo isn't going to slow PCs

Lords Of The Fallen is just poorly coded, just like Assassin's Creed Unity

Just look to FIFA15, it uses Denuvo and runs well just like FIFA14.

Also both Lords of The Fallen and FIFA 15 are not cracked yet, so I doubt they will crack DAI anytime soon.

But yes, it uses Denuvo

If you preloaded and want to read it

Well...that's kind of balls.

I checked TotalBiscuit's Twitter earlier, and he made a post about the performance being mostly fine but 'shaky,' but he mostly seemed to say that because of wonky SLI bugs. Didn't say anything about this. So...something, I guess.

The pre-release of DAI has SLI bugs, Mike mentioned it on twitter a few days ago, it's apparently fixed in the day one patch (only available on release day).

Also, TotalBiscuit is saying that 45-60 FPS on Ultra with a single 980 is shaky...

Well, we'll see where we are after the drivers are out, I guess. That's pretty much in line with what the benchmarks were at, I believe.

Sony rootkits and then securom used to hide in your system, installing backdoors for hackers to enjoy, causing BSODs and generally annoy the hell out of people. The denuvo shitware might cause the same issues.

Might? Has this happened before or is it speculation?

No, it hasn't. People really need to stop saying Lords of the Fallen is having issues because of this DRM. It's the game itself because the console version has some, if not most, of the same issues.

Meanwhile, FIFA15 used the same DRM with absolutely no issues. So yeah, not the DRM's fault the LotF devs couldn't QC better.

From what I've read Denuvo prevents the main DRM (Origin/Steam/Whatever) from being circumvent.

How many will avoid a game that has a draconian drm? How many will ask for a refund due to a draconian drm?

Is the money spent on drm worth one week, maybe more?

This has no defence.

Funny... I was going to say "as long as idiots out there insist on having something immediately the day it comes out."
