While on the subject of "Do"s and "Don't"s in the CC, watch chin width as well. It's a fussy setting. A chin too wide can look over exaggeratedly wide in game, and the same with a chin too thin.. it can look almost too pointy, like you were going for a witch chin. Chin width also, for some odd reason, affects the smoothness of the jaw line, and the bone and how it curves under the face. Too thin of a chin can make it look as if there is a corner or crease, rather than a rounded bone... if that makes sense. Also beware of the Jowls setting. Put the slider a bit too far to the right, though good and fine in the CC, can make it look ridiculous in game. You can usually also see a 'line' in the cc from the setting being pushed to far right outside the chin area. It starts to look folded rather than curved, and unfortunately renders the same in game rather than smoothing out, at least in my experience. ![]()

Here's even more of Macha Lavellan
Spoiler
Thank you! I actually used these sliders that someone else put together as the base for her face and tweaked it to make her look a bit like Morrigan.

Alexander Trevelyan, Mage:

Historically, I'm not very happy with the look of male characters I'm able to create in BioWare games, but I'm pretty happy with this one. He's very expressive in-game, and aside from some odd vertical stretching of the head, looks OK in cutscenes. Now if I can just get used to playing as a mage (I've usually gone for the rogue archer in the series)....

That's really well done, Skaldfish. One of the best as far as actually seeing facial/bone features. Good job!

Some people do have naturally bigger foreheads than others. You want to pay particular attention to the forehead slider and it can change things quite a bit, leading to a narrower or wider forehead. Even with Qunari, I have pretty good luck keeping the eyes pretty much centered. Personlly, I think the styles that hide the forehead make it look too small.
The biggest difference I've noticed in the CC is the makeup colors. You will need to play with it. I've re-created characters several times over til I was happy tweaking the eyes or lip color. I've gotten pretty quick at running the first few cutscenes to where I can get a good picture of what that character is going to look like. Another big thing is jaw shape. If you aren't careful you can end up with some pretty horse/rabbit/fox-faced characters. When working in the CC on jaw/cheeks/brow make sure you look at all possible angles. I'm as much a fan of high prominent cheekbones as the next person, but don't go too extreme in the CC. A little goes a long way with those sliders, as vanilla they are pretty prominent to begin with.
Rhiannon uses lip color at max because she's my Snow White - her eye shadow is at max, a very dark navy blue. Her eye position is center with a narrower forehead:
Spoiler
Ever uses lip color at minimum settings - her eye shadow is at 2nd from the right, a dark navy blue. Her eye position is vertically center with a semi-narrow forehead:
Herah (yeah totally not original - I was having name-writer's block) uses lip color at middle settings - her eye shadow is 2nd from the right, black. Her eye position is center with a narrower forehead:

Thanks for all the helpful tips! I'm going to have to write them down
I usually like to make non-perfect faces, and like playing around with the finer details but it is frustrating when going beyond the presets can be a bit unpredictable (I tried once to make a slightly rounder, softer face.. it did not go well

i tried making a female trevelyan for the first time today and was really dissatisfied with my first attempt, so i started over....and decided to try to her look like me for fun. it did not go well >___> she looks nothing like me. my face is extremely round and try as i might, i couldn't seem to achieve the same level of rotundness with her face, i have monolids/single lids and there is no such option in the CC, my skin is very yellow toned and overall, she just doesn't look asian at all xD i was going to make her bare faced (like all my other characters have been so far) but i hated how she looked without make up >___>

She still looks pretty Asiatic. I'd have similar problems. My face isn't necessarily rotund, but I've monolids, too, and my cheekbones are out of control. If I were to give my character cheekbones similar to mine IRL, she'd look like she's got some sort of bone deformity, I'm sure. ![]()

Recent try:
I was going for a gray-ish theme. I picked the darker gray option (one click above the shiny bluish-black) but I think it may have turned out darker than I really wanted? I am not sure.

She's lovely! And I would say that she looks Asian to me. The face structure looks perfect. You might try asking for tips at the Asian Inq thread? http://forum.bioware...ian-characters/ A lot of folks there seem to have gotten the eyes really well (not all of them... though :/ )

I was forced to recreate my inquisitor, but this time I decided to throw away the "natural look", so added a slightly stronger makeup and changed eye/hair color.
However, I do not know if this idea turned out better than the original (or I just got used to her fair look).
Anyway, here is my brand new 2nd canon Inquisitor:

Made an archer with Hawke's warpaint.
Hate to be a bother but does anyone know how to make the blood paint available to use with a mod? I wanna do a Mage Hawke playthru and it doesn't feel right without the mark.
(Tried contacting milky way but hasn't responded in a few days.)
