Yeah, I'm trying to make a facial self-insert (which I'm finding out is very hard to do with the limitations of the CC). I don't have freckles, but it's tough to make a character with the "cleaner" textures not look too young, and I'm in my 30's.

I'm still trying to make a Male!Trevelyan that I can bring myself to look at for long enough to make it through a playthrough. 99.9% of the time I roll females because I have a hard time role playing a male character. In order for me to play one he has to keep my interest visually. Shallow of me, I know...

I missed this before. I feel the same way. Ultimately my male playthroughs still always peter out because dressup is just more fun with females

I wouldn't say shallow...you like what you like, everyone has a preference and noone should begrudge you for it.  All I can say about making male characters...is the presets seem to be pretty good starters(atleast for me) not much alteration needed...except where things like hairstyle n color, and eye style and color are concerned. I also find adjusting the cheekbones, chin bone( and shape) and the lip size( my current issue with Raziel) helps quite abit.

If there's a choice, I usually don't make male characters. But this time I had to keep trying until I found a character I could love, because Dorian

When I'm at a loss for names, I go for flowers, herbs and rocks. That's how I ended up with names like Saffron, Poppy, and Viridian.

 

Otherwise, I use names that represent the personality.

 

My male human noble got that ostentatious name because it suits how I RP him, and how I imagine most stupid human nobs in DAI.

I prefer this one. The colours just fit so well together. I'd definitely keep the brownish eyes, and the paler lips. Can't tell you what to improve though. I like her

He should seriously consider to open beauty parlor in Skyhold...

It's version 2 for me as well As people said, the colours really blend well together! She also looks 'natural' By Andraste's butt, stop making beautiful characters where I can't explain why and how much awesome they are!

Another vote for version 2 here! Something about her eyes & brow combined with the coloring really makes her stand out to me.
