What I think is so great (and unique) about his face actually is that he looks so real. I feel like if I was walking down the street, his is a face I might see (though probably without the tattoo
), and I think that achieving that realness is something that's quite challenging with any game CC. Aerek has a really great face shape that I haven't seen very often in all of my forum skulking, and his nose is quite fabulous *_*
The tattoo is great too, (that particular tattoo is my favourite out of the human tattoos) and I think having such a prominent one works really well for your headcanon.
And that makes so much sense, too. I deliberately veered from making him look over-young and especially over-pretty. I wanted Aerek to look rougher, more tough a character. I thought at first that the roundness to his jaw and chin nearly ruined the look, but then it proved nearly impossible to catch him smiling, either. He always seems to be tossing out these sharp, pointed looks at people, and I thought his personality with that particular face shape WORKED.
I like your Siobhan. Her face brings so many different RP possibilities to mind, and I like that. She makes me start wondering where she's been and what she's thinking. Her personality seems to shine through real strong, I think.

I absolutely love this thread, thank you so much for sharing your creations, some of them really stand out!
This is Sa'vunin, my mage quizzy. Nothing special really, but I like the outcome. I suppose Ori's soundtrack is to blame for her somehow excessive "whiteness" (it's very dreamy and sad and beautiful and white and dark, if that makes any sense to you xP), I literally spent hours listening to the damn thing while I was playing around with the character creator. Plus, I picture her as a very thoughtful and pondering person, one who enjoys listening to others and asks a lot of questions, so an aggressive look was definitely not what I was looking for.

I think those kinds of things (not overly pretty, roughness etc.) are really important factors when making realistic characters. That's not to say that pretty characters can't be realistic, or that they're not interesting (heck, I make 'pretty' characters all the time, you only have to do is look at my Gilthanas to see that) but sometimes the less 'ideally perfect' characters can lead to some really wonderful results.
For example, I just finished my visual arts degree last year and one of the mandatory classes I took for four years was figure drawing. We had about seven different models that would come in on different days, all of them different body types, and of all of them my favourite to draw was a heavier-set woman in her forties to fifties. I found drawing her to be much more interesting than drawing the couple of younger models we had with their 'perfect' bodies, and my drawings of her are some of the best that I think that I've done.
Just from the pictures you've posted of Aerek, I definitely see what you mean by his pointed looks. You've done a wonderful job of finding features that appear more mature and 'hardened' and his face really lends itself well to the expressions you get with the more assertive answers.
Thank you so much for the compliments on Siobhan. She's probably my most favourite face that I've made, and like you did with Aerek, I tried really hard to stay away from making her overly pretty. I RP her as very blunt and assertive but she has good sense of humour if she counts you as her friend. Her family raised her to be a devout andrastian and she does believe in the Maker, but she was never as devout as her parents would have liked, and instead of being the cultured, perfect lady her mother hoped, she would rather spend her time out hunting or fighting off bandits. The one thing Siobhan devoutly agrees with the chantry about is magic, and she would much rather pretend that the mages with all of they're weird magic didn't exist.
Woo…. sorry for the long post.

tried to do a multiquote and got completely overwhelmed lol--ah, oh well!
@phyreblade: for some reason, I had always thought that a diplomatic inquisitor would appeal most to Cass, but now that I actually think about it..I completely agree with you! I also admire that you put so much thought into developing your inquisitors' personalities.
@Sylvianus: oh YES exactly, it feels like Christmas whenever I open the game!
and Jaeghar and Jaheira are both absolutely incredible--so good-looking!
@Rascoth: I can understand that feeling--when/if I try installing mods I might end up doing the same haha! I waaas thinking about modding her.. but just her hair:p thank you for the compliment! And oo, that's exciting--I'd been reluctant to upgrade but the difference in graphics made it worth it haha!
@LadyAly: yes, it's great : D I really like Ivandra--she is beautiful ![]()
@Elista: you're very welcome, and thank you !

Ok guys, I couldn't help it when I saw the new short undercut for human females. I always envisioned Rhiannon with a sort of "faux hawk" so I had to try it out on her. I give you Rhiannon 2.0! I also updated her to using Shantia's texture and tweaked her nose just a smidge.
Almost makes me wish I could play through the whole campaign again with her...but I put sooooo many hours into my vids that I would go insane to do it all over!

I was wondering if I could take a quick straw poll. Does anyone here ever play male qunari? I feel like I haven't seen a male qunari in this thread for months. I don't know if it's because no-one's proud to show off their male Adaar or if no-one is really playing as him.

Imperfections make for more interesting characters, I've discovered. My favorite playthrough was with my guy Lavellan. I created this really attractive elf, complete with big blue eyes that just make you want to go, "Ahhhh." And then he smiles and you see this huge gap-toothed set of teeth. The first time I really noticed it, I very nearly went back to recreate the character, even. But I persisted, and he ended up being incredible in scene after scene after scene.
So when I went off to make my first guy human, I stopped long enough to consider how his personality would shape his features. I deliberately veered from longer hairstyles, for instance. And I chose a rougher complexion than I would have for a younger male figure. Not that I think Aerek is too old, he isn't graying! But I figure he's in his very early thirties. He's a mature guy, who still smarts from some early childhood traumas even into adulthood.
I only try to shape my character's features around their personalities. "How would he style his hair? Is he intent on impressing people, wear the prettiest clothes, or otherwise cares overmuch about his appearance? Or does he just barely remember to shave each morning? Does she recognize how pretty she is, or just chop off the strands of her hair whenever it falls into her eyes to make it harder for her to see? Is she curious or dogged, sweet and rude, or is she over-serious to the point people try and figure out if they've ticked her off ...?" And sometimes they still surprise the crap out of me.
tried to do a multiquote and got completely overwhelmed lol--ah, oh well!
@phyreblade: for some reason, I had always thought that a diplomatic inquisitor would appeal most to Cass, but now that I actually think about it..I completely agree with you! I also admire that you put so much thought into developing your inquisitors' personalities.
*snip*
But personality is so much fun! And really shapes our features as we grow up, I think. Let me look back at my characters, here.
Kirsa is a cute, adorable little redhead who doesn't take ANYTHING real seriously. All of life is a real joke, and she laughs like mad pretty much most of the time. This whole Inquisition thing ...? It's like, "Hey, these people want me leading this circus? Haha!" She falls for Iron Bull pretty quick. Totally sarcastic character, here.
Falin is always, always curious. She is fascinated by stories and adventures from far-off places and people. Her and her brother, both, mind you. She liked crawling through cracks and alcoves to find hidden pictures on the walls, anything that told another tale. She managed to neatly enchant Solas, which he never saw coming. Nice mix of diplomatic and snark, she was a sweetheart.
Daylin always wanted to go to new places, see new things and meet new people. It didn't matter to her how much or how often the Keeper insisted she stay close to the people and far-off from humans and cities and the like. She wanted to see it for herself, and to heck with anyone trying to hold her back. Those heroes? She wanted to SEE them for herself. She only never imagined BEING one and didn't really want it, either. My most diplomatic Inquisitor yet, and Cullen adored her.
I actually played through my guy Lavellan twice. Fully, at least. The first was a warrior, and it was such fun playing that story that I created a mage using pretty much the same sliders to see if it worked better with a mage. And erhm, yea, Maik'hel turned out to be my canon Inquisitor. Very empathic, born and raised to lead he took to the role of Inquisitor surprisingly well considering he's Dalish. But it's mostly that he just GETS people and then manages to make them smile and follow him with jibes and prods more than threats. VERY smart and well-read, always has a book and spends most of his free time in the library. (and Falin's his sister, yay)
And now Aerek, who I've introduced above. He has a couple of siblings, including a mage sister that he's intent on protecting. Hence his journey to the Conclave. Very pro-Andrastian, very much for fixing the problems the Chantry suffers. He's practical-minded, "Let's fix this right now, not argue over absurd issues from centuries past." His father outright denied his paternity and forced him out of the family home, basically threw him out on the streets to fend for himself. But he's a Trevelyan through and through, really, and rigid pride keeps him from forgiving his father the misunderstanding.

I'm already planning a playthrough with a human female, Maegin Trevelyan. Aerek's sister, rather, and more cute than anything. The kind of female you just want to bundle up to protect. Cullen doesn't stand a chance, lol.
Eventually I'll write the story down the way I see it, feel it's right and works best. This particular DA game works well with melding the different heroes together, though. I can actually see them working TOGETHER, albeit from different directions. Hence I'm playing through various stories to get the best feel for each character's personality. It's a blast, actually.

how do you take pictures like this? so close and the characters even look like if they were posing
I use DAI Cinematic Tools and lots of patience. You can get some great shots in cutscenes (where both of the shots you quoted are from). You can also get some great ones when exploring, you just have to be patient and wait for your character to turn just the right way.

My new elven rogue that I thought I did a pretty good job creating
Lanathari Levallan formerly a clan hunter/scout. trained as a spy years before being sent to observe the conclave, joins the Inquisition, and became the Inquisitor.
She is such a QT

I might put more pics of her later. I already made the new world state for Mr.Matthias Trevelyan focusing on supporting the templars

Ashkelon Adaar

Rehovot Adaar

You can at least give it a try. But... I don't know if it was only my luck or if that's something that happens every time, but saves with mods didn't work after uninstalling them ('those saves were made with newer version of the game' blah, blah, blah...). I was really glad that I spent most of my time just wandering, because I could just simply delete those modded saves and use ones I had on backup disc.
Can you point me to the new hair? Very lovely indeed.

@ mrjack - I have a male Qunari on the way. He'll be on world state number 8 of 9. The only one I'll probably be missing is female dwarf. It is an interesting call out to others. If you read this thread and haven't posted your characters before please do. Even if it is a 360/PS3 shot we'd like to see them.
