I love this! I must say first thing I thought after seeing this was that, after painting her face, she wiped her mouth. It really looks cool and natural, because lets be serious, all this paint would make talking really hard. So wiping it off seems like the best course of action o 3o
Thanks! That's what I was going for. I figured the paint wouldn't last long around the mouth area, especially with talking, drinking, eating etc. I also think I'm going to work on a spot where it looks like she wiped her brow.
I'm still trying to figure out her backstory. She's the "hidden knife" of House Trevelyan, the youngest of triplets, a shadow. Her two older siblings didn't even know about her existence. She has spent her life training in the arts espionage and assassination. To tie in the Avvar thing, I'm thinking maybe she spent some time with a clan. As her first assignment on her own, she was assigned to learn how to blend in with another culture. If she could blend in with the Avvar, she could blend in anywhere. While there, she was to learn from them, supplement her skills in combat (as they are known for their fierceness in battle), and report back pertinent political and clan movement information. House Trevelyan has its hands in everything.
However, much to her superiors' distaste, some of the Avvar's "finer" qualities stuck with her. She spent too much time with them, it seems, and had "gone native." Back home, her superiors had learned that the barbarian nature added to her already gruff disposition, and she had picked up the habit of painting her body in preparation for combat. The biggest asset an assassin has is anonymity, and painting oneself in bright warpaint would not do. Not in the "civilized" world. Thus Victoria was forced to spend time "re-acquainting" herself with her original training, practically to the point of brainwashing. Her time spent with the Avvar was all but forgotten, pushed to the furthest reaches of her mind. That part of her life was over, no matter how at peace she was when she was with them. Everything about her life was a lie, and she had appreciated a society that was upfront and honest in its purest form.
And so we meet Victoria in her current state. Back to being a nameless face and living only to carry out the will of House Trevelyan, she was assigned to attend the Conclave. What was her mission? Was it simply reconnaissance or did she have more sinister orders? She was their best assassin after all. We will never know. Things changed after the explosion. Victoria lost a huge chunk of her memory and whatever her orders were at the time didn't even matter. She had to think on her feet, and she had to figure out how to survive. She could tell this Cassandra person anything she wanted. All she knew was that she was now in a position to shape the world however she pleased. It would be her choice if she wanted to work to further advance her House or if she wanted to tear everything down and start over. That knock to the head brought memories rushing back that she had spent years learning how to repress, feelings long forgotten.
