Just got to Skyhold on my first playthrough on PS4...
Here is my Rose Lavellan on her way to Skyhold ![]()

Wow, thank you so much.she is so freaking gorgeous i can scarcely stand it.
also, that hair looks AMAZING on her. like, just so perfect i feel like i get her personality just looking at her. she has a tough-under-that-serene-face vibe going on.
10 playthroughs, great scott! it's a fine collection of IQ's
!
Indeed Solak is my 5th Inquisitor so far and I've yet to play a warrior on the game just yet although I plan to correct that as my next quizzy will be one.
The last pictures of Ellindir. It appears Trespasser doesn't recognize the mods I use and he's back to looking scrawny and malnourished.
So I won't finish this PT.
Anyhow here's the last scene after his victory over Corypheus.

And here is Inquisitor Lavellan on the eve of the Exalted Council.

who here writes fanfic, and where do you host what you write?
i do!
Archive of Our Own is a fantastic spot to find good fanfic. also tumblr is a good spot to start. in my tumblr, i have a tag where i list what i've been reading. also i post updates to my own fic on my tumblr.
and depending upon what you're up for, you can also drop into any of the character threads (cullen, leliana, etc.) and ask around. there are lots of fanfic writers hanging out there, and fanfic readers, too. they are always happy to give recommendations.
off the top of my head, i'm reading:
ariella1941 (cullen/hawke)
eternalshiva (wardenalistair/inquisitor and others)
speedgriffon (modern au alistair/cousland and others)
EMorgaine (multi in DA world)
bioticblackops (mostly shenko. but i love shenko)
adlegend (inquisitor/cassandra, inquisitor/vivienne and others)
Evil_Sapphyre (alistair/cousland and others)
cocotingo (dorian/inquisitor and others, mostly art, some fics)
r2smuse (sollavellen and cullen/hawke and others)
digitalgoddess (lavellen/barris)
and my own, sagefic, which i host at my own site (<< both my DAI fic and my mass effect fic) and at archive of our own.
aaand...i'm sure i'm forgetting a ton of people. i follow so many fic writers i nearly always forget to mention half of them. that's a start, though!

thank you so much! I've been writing a bit lately, looking for a home ;D yay!
I'm on a quest to find the perfect pacing for a playthrough (and quite frankly I don't feel like playing anything else) so since I decided to can my previous PT with beloved Ellindir I've restarted another run with yet another Dalish hunter - but a female this time - my first ever. I'll finally be able to romance Cullen legitimately.
EDIT: I fully intend to make that traitorous scum Solas slobber before rejecting him.
Meet Ruinen of the Lavellan Clan.
The first picture is how she came out of the CC.
The second is after visiting Xenon as soon as he became available. I changed the tattoo and the hairdo.
The third is, you guessed it, the 'Doe Eyes one'

nice quizzy I'm guessing based on that armour she's either a mage or a rogue right?
And Fallout... Yeah....
So, I realized why I love BioWare games and I really don't care as much about other games: I do not care to see that world saved. That's it. The Wasteland is cool, (I guess??) but after a while, I'm like, "This world is pretty, but it's empty" (Skyrim) or, "This world is interesting, but it's nearly dead" (Transistor), or "This world is sh*t, wtf?" (Fallout: New Vegas). And then I stop playing.
But with Thedas and Mass Effect and Jade Empire and like ALL the BioWare games, I get so into them, I feel like I just want to stay. The world is broken, but you see such good stuff in it, you *want* to help make it better. It's like this perfect woobie of a character that I fall in love with.
^ So, TL:DR, the writing is better in BioWare games, and that's why I love 'em.
I confess -- I actually do love the world of Tamriel a lot more than I do Thedas
. My love stems from the fact that Morrowind in particular took so much inspiration from non-Western cultures. It was refreshing to see the temple of Vivec and go: Oh! That looks like the temple of Borobodur! And I'd visited Borobodur long before I set foot in any English castle.
Dragon Age, however, has the superior set of companions and companion interactions. I cringe whenever I see a non-Bioware romanceable companion float across my screen. It's always going to be a poor man's version; they'll always be less believable and engaging in comparison to Bioware's characters.
Right now I'm concurrently playing Fallout 4 and The Witcher 3 (for the first time). While I'm making great progress with the latter (I do so wish Inquisition's sidequests had even a fraction of the quality that The Witcher 3's sidequests have), I've had to make my Fallout PC look like Cassandra in order for me to really get into the game
. I might put up screenshots of Fallout!Cassandra in executing some V.A.T.S badassery at some point. Cassandra Pentaghast would waste the Wasteland.
But for now, here's a few screenshots of Nyneve, my Rogue Lavellan who I haven't really played since she arrived in Haven. I'd forgotten how much I adored her; she reminds me so much of the Australian model Andreja Pejic. I might've posted some of these screenshots before but here she is, anyway --

I've also been developing a bit of an itch to write DA fanfiction lately, but my biggest fear is not capturing the world or the canon characters accurately enough. While fanfic is technically always going to be AU, my impulse is always to do as much research as I can regarding the world I'm writing in.
I'm curious -- To those who write DA fanfic and happen to be particular about being faithful to the world of Thedas: how much research or "prep" do you do before writing a fanfic (if any prep is being done at all)? What resources do you turn to for research, apart from playing the games and consulting the wiki?
@ S Seraff - It came out to be about one month per playthrough. Little bits at a time. It was worth it though. I've moved on to Fallout 4 (shocker!) and indie games. I'll revisit DA at some point before the next game, when I want something to relax to.

im still making up my mind about F4 - the character generator looks fantastic! but post-apocalptic games tend to put me in a dark place ![]()

ok, first, she's freaking' gorgeous and very unique. i know a girl with very similar features, irl. very well done face.
as for fanfic research, the dragon age wiki is INSANELY useful for that purpose (kudos to the people who maintain it). since i refs all primary source materials (tweets, world of thedas, novels, etc.) it's often one-stop shopping for lore. it doesn't get everything, but it gets a lot. and again, character threads are a great place to ask questions, as there are so many lore nerds ready to chime in.
and i think you're totally right about capturing the characters accurately. to me, that's key for enjoying a fic, bioware fanfic especially. i think it's easy to forgive a slip about lore, but an ill-voiced character is harder to ignore. but yeah, asking around the character threads is a good way to get started. fanfic writers love to talk about their faves!
and yay! more fanfic writers! more the merrier.
edit: top, so another kate pic:

Yup
Dalish mage...
I like the way armors look in this game, especially crafted and tinted mage armors!
Too bad the hats are too wacky for my taste though!
There are a couple of decent mage hoods later in that can be crafted or looted, but beyond that id agree headwear for non warrior classes are fairly disappointing imo.
On topic though, picked up the PS4 goty version instead of just DLC on PC, spent an odd 100 hours playing this elf mage over the last few weeks with a couple of those combat and xp trials on.
Now on to DLC before Fallout 4 grabs all the attention for months on end ![]()

Thanks for the compliments on Nyneve :3. Tis a shame that I neglect her as I don't play on the PC very often. Having been spoiled on the high graphics quality on the console, I want to put all my graphic settings on 'ultra' on the PC. Unfortunately my desktop can't handle it, and my PC game keeps crashing -- and maintaining mods is such a chore for me.
I might actually drop into the Cullen character thread at some point as I'm a huge fan and the fic I'm aiming to write concerns Cullen in particular
, so I'll probably ask around for lore tips regarding our favorite commander. He's got such a huge following that I'd want to be able to do him justice as a writer.
And Kate is lovely by the way
she's gorgeous in that honest, straightforward way.
Yup

Yeah those aer my favouriet armours in he game and my Solak's a Dalish mage as well and proud of it.
who here writes fanfic, and where do you host what you write?
I post on fanfiction.net, archiveofourown.org, and here on the forums under Dragon Age franchise/Fan creations. I multi-post for two reasons: redundency and because they provide different formats for reading.

I won't consider myself anything approaching an expert since I completed only one fanfic and have two works in progress. Though one isn't so much a fanfic, imo, as a journal/scrapbook from my inquisitor's point of view. The diary is only posted here on the forum because I include screensnaps. I have read a fair amount of fanfiction so I know what rings true for me.
I agree that staying true to the characters is paramount. I may not have taken Person A down a certain path to develop a certain way, but if the situations and choices made are believable and I can see Person A saying/doing those things, I can still enjoy the narrative. If you want to make Person A a lot darker and Person B a lot brighter, there has to be something on which you can build. There has to be a foundation.
From my own experience, my first fanfic followed DAO pretty closely until after the battle. I introduced a few new characters but nothing substantial from a lore or location perspective. A map of Ferelden and 20 playthroughs was pretty much the sum total of my research.
My second fanfic, to be completed in the foreseeable if not near future, involves a trip to Weisshaupt, among other locations. I added history/lore to the story, rearranged events, added or changed situations, and of course added my own characters. I did a bit more research. I used the wiki, of course. But even though that gave me maps with an idea of size, I needed to do other research for my travel calculations: how fast can foot soldiers move on normal patrol vs. a forced march, horse and carriage speeds, bird speeds (messenger birds and other things). More armor details and specs. Even WebMD. If I had an idea but no idea how to get there, I read other fiction/fanfiction. Not to use their methods but to see if I could convey what I wanted in a believable manner. Any time I scrapped an idea I believe it was for the benefit of my story. And I have more than a handful of scrapped chapters.
I hope I didn't bore you,
.
May i just say that it makes me sooo happy to see people using my mods? :3
Here's some more of Isabelle.
well they aer good mods that long hair with sidebangs really suits my Solak I think.
