im still making up my mind about F4 - the character generator looks fantastic! but post-apocalptic games tend to put me in a dark place

 

That's why I play smaller games to break up the bleakness. I just finished Never Alone. It is about an Iñupiaq girl and her arctic fox friend. After the game you can watch 24 little documentaries about the fable the game is based on and the culture that inspired it.

Hmm, i've looked at upsampling but it seemed like such a faff and I couldn't decide it it was worth it, especially as I flip-flop every minute over whether I prefer cleaner/ sharper images or prefer softer slightly more unnatural ones like this ( beginning to feel like i'm pimping this poor girl i've posted so many shots now );

Looking at yours I might have to suck it up and give it a go, you've done such a good job. She looks great, love her new hair and I don't know if I said it before but I really like how you've matched up the colouring of her eyes and vallaslin. Everytime I go to give one of mine coloured vallaslin I chicken out lol

yeah I'm not good with the vallislin either normally but the one your using here looks nice. The one that just goes around the eyes is anice one as well which is the one I'm using on Solak this time Usually I keep it as faded out as possible but I've left it alone on my current quizzy.

Thanks for the compliments on Nyneve :3. Tis a shame that I neglect her as I don't play on the PC very often. Having been spoiled on the high graphics quality on the console, I want to put all my graphic settings on 'ultra' on the PC. Unfortunately my desktop can't handle it, and my PC game keeps crashing -- and maintaining mods is such a chore for me.

 

I might actually drop into the Cullen character thread at some point as I'm a huge fan and the fic I'm aiming to write concerns Cullen in particular  , so I'll probably ask around for lore tips regarding our favorite commander. He's got such a huge following that I'd want to be able to do him justice as a writer.

 

And Kate is lovely by the way she's gorgeous in that honest, straightforward way.

and yeah, character threads are a good place to start making connections to other fanfic writers. not everyone writes their fave the same way, so i always take advice and headcanons with a salt shaker. but it's nice to make fanfic friends (and yay cullen! he's my fave as well, along with cass & krem, my other two 'ships)

Catabuca over at the screenarchery thread posted some great screenshot comparisons of upsampling here and here.
Not only do you get more detail but better lighting and shadows.
*edit* I forgot to mention, it's not that complicated to do- you can change the render resolution from the DAI cinematic tool's misc section, or type in the console render.resolutionscale x  (press ~ to open).
However, you can't seem to type things into the console during a cutscene? You have to change it before or use the cinematic tool to change it during the cutscene.

Really enjoying my playthrough and taking more pics of my Inquisitor. I love him in that blue get-up!

 

I'm pretty much roleplaying him as someone who can't really believe that this is all happening to him and certainly doesn't think that he's some sort of Chosen One, but it's all fallen into his lap so he might as well try, right? Pretty much the typical, good-looking, roguish youngest son of a noble, though this experience is certainly making him grow up really fast.

 

He almost always goes for the snarky conversation options, which surprisingly worked really well in Orlais while playing the Great Game. I pretty much just attribute that to his being from a noble family and having some sort of natural aptitude for it, just like with everything else that's happened to him so far. He's been surviving through sheer luck and through the force of his snark, basically (especially in the escape from Haven). Who knew that sarcasm could close the Breach, eh? I think Dorian has met his perfect match.

Thank you for the thread link, I hadn't seen that one before. There's some very  talented people in that thread. I can see many, many hours of head-desking ahead of me, my first efforts have been...less than stellar. This old girl might be getting a bit old for new tricks it seems.

How did you get her face so perfectly round and smooth? And I don't mean the texture but the shape. My Lav always seems to have some weird botches coming out at the sides of her chin even after many plastic surgeries (BE)

Oh, she still has it in certain angles (i think it's the head shape that does it, i've noticed it's more on some headshapes than others).

^ one thing I found with the CC and chin/face is this (took me a bazillions runs to realize this):

 

the jaw "size" is really misleading. if you drop it all the way 'down' in the sliders, it gives a jowly sort of look (where 'jowls' actually draw in the skin around the mouth and can be used to round out/contour the cheeks effectively). my hubby kept saying 'your toons look like they have the mumps' until we realized that was the slider that was giving them the pouchy look

 

So, for MOST females, it looks best to pull the jawSIZE all the way up - i mean put that slider on the TOP of the box. then use jawLINE and chin size to define the lower half of the face. I think on the men, their heads are generally larger, and you don't notice the extra volume. on the women, esp. the slight elves, it's noticable - but only outside of the CC.  in the CC, it's hard to see because of the odd lighting and straight-on perspective (unless you use the flycam to pop out of it to double-check your work, as i did). But I was astounded by the difference in game.

 

also, 2 more tips: i found the cheekbones usually looked best drawn IN a bit (they tend to be set wide) and the cheeksize looked best pushed forward to make them rounder. also, the eyes begin very close-set and sunken, on most of the default faces.

 

blah blah blah, how many runs have i done in the CC? i don't even want to say.
