Reeducated twice among the qunari, after fleeing the Qun as a young adult, she finally joined a group of Tal-vashoth. But they were incredibly violent and ruthless, behaving like undisciplined crazy beasts and bandits, killing everyone on their way, stealing anything within the reach of their arms and their gaze, burning everything that was considered useless. Which...meant a lot... Nazaan after seeing and lived the order and the discipline under the rule of the Qun, terribly upset and disgusted, in spite of everything, still followed them. Because those Qunari lost with themself were like her : hunted fugitives, brothers and sisters in misfortune. However she always remained herself, she never killed without any reason, never took pleasure doing what they enjoyed so much, and then never felt a part of them even if her mind and her body was there, with them.
The behavior and the daily life of the Tal-vashoth group was not only wrong to her, but also useless, and stupid. Nazaan stopped to follow the Qun but they needed a goal in their life, they were better than that to her. That's what she believed with certainty, sadness and bitterness at the same time. Thoses thoughts of her made her feel like a foreigner and a strangeness, exactly like it happened in the past among the Qunari, and in fact that's truly what she was for the others in the Tal-vashot fugitive group.
And precisely because of that, Nazaan had enemies. Not only her kindness and morality was quickly misjudged as a weakness by some of her mates but they also literally came to hate her.
Why ? Because they believed that Nazaan was thinking she was better than them, while she never proved she was stronger than them, and they couldn't stand was they considered an insufferable arrogance. Those hostile Qunari stopped to consider her as one of their own and saw her in another way, rather as a prey, following her with threatening eyes everyday, waiting with patience for their turn to act and to show her if she was truly better than them. And one day Nazaan made indeed the mistake to walk far away from her monstruous mallet, and three powerful male Qunari but cowards, - among them the leader of the group -, suddenly surrounded her in the dark, punched her and violently thrown her on the ground. The Qunari despised became in their eyes their new weak victim and she was going to learn a lesson she needed.
No one came to help the victim, the others were just watching silently what was going on, absolutely neutral and hardly concerned for her. Nazaan had to take care of herself.
And despite unarmed and alone against three, she fighted like a demon in rage ! Nazaan rolled and twisted in the sand, tore a piece of ear with her teeths, broke fingers with her heel, badly knocked a temple with her powerful thighs, made swallowing sand in mouth, broke a neck with her hands, pulled on of her horns in an eye ! She threw several times a warcry, denying the pain in her body attacked from three sides, helped by a monstrous anger !
A battle to the death, a fight that ended in a bloodbath, the one of her attackers. All finally died in the melee. She was victorious, full of blood, her own too, her enemies were dead. She proved she was better than them, showing them in their own way.
Other tal-Vashoff, as shocked as impressed before such a spectacle, recognized her strength and without any landmark, lost, chose her as their new leader, quickly forgetting the stupid death of their former leader. Nazaan realized that if she wanted to lead for a long time these violent and undisciplined beasts, she would have to show herself tough, authoritarian, cold and distant. But she would remain herself and they would do things her way ! Things of the past are done ! They will not kill anymore without any reason like simple bandits, they would become a mercenary group, they would be paid for completing contracts ! They would become as well respected as frightening ! They would have a goal in their life !
Thus, she created, the Valo-Kas, a mercenary qunari group. Under her smart reign, the beasts that were the Tal-vashoth in her group of hunted and ruthless qunari fugitives became disciplined soldiers, their strength, their rage and their muscles at the service of human customers and nations. They did not kill anymore for pleasure but for money, and only when it is needed. They were also good for protecting commercial convoys or taking the responsabilty of the security of others.
The mercenary group under her leadership also finally became truly renowned to the point it was called to ensure the safety of the conclave in the year 9:41
