while it is a nice advantage to have I wouldn't say it's 100% necessary to enjoy the game. Also sometimes mods require a bit of playing around to get working and this can be quiet a hassle. Took me a while at first to get them to work for me but then I needed to update a couple of things on my PC first (which is what was causing my problems) in order to make them function but now I've figured out how I'm glad I can now use them.

Probably true... though I remember when I was younger and still had an up to date PC on which I could play games I loved using mods. Now I spend hours making my character chase after a decent looking armor with ok-ish stats :D

Yeah I don't tend to play with mods much though but it depends on the game. I only really chose to use DAI mods because of the main game hair was pretty much 50 versions of bald for the most part. While that's not too bad for something like a Qunari given most seem to be bald (because of their horns) anyway but you don't see many bald women and the majority of women tend to have longer hairstyles than was on offer in the game. I know they did it to try to solve clipping issues but it would have been nice to have had 1 or 2 longer options. Hopefully they should be moer familiar with the engine now and can do better with MEA but only time will tell I guess

Not I want Inquisition on computer and mods really badly.

It mainly depends on how good one is with CC in my opinions. i have seen quite few unmodded human both males and females look totally stunning . One of my favorite female inquisitors Myra Trevelyan made by VelvetStraitjacket is unmodded , she is so beautiful that i even asked for sliders because i wanted her for my playthrough ( normally i prefer to use my own creations)

Cant say for other races as i only play humans ( boring i know) , but i cant stand elves in DA series , their body look like chicken wings to me , its even worse in DAI . i just cant stand it to play elves myself.  but as long as their faces go , i did see some really really nice modded male and female elves like . Arideya's Tess is my favorite elf girl so far

she is totally gorgeous

sweetfx/reshade, eyebrows, skin textures ( lots of vanilla ones are very wrinkled and lack of varieties ) , hair mods , pajama mods (replace that ugly beige pajama) and HD crafting materials mod ( improve armor/cloth textures in game) are must-have for me to enjoy DAI

You don't need pajama mods anymore, as you get a wardrobe with patch 10. That said, it's of course nice to have alternatives as well, so nothing wrong with modded pajamas.

Here's Asha, finally in Skyhold (and sporting one of those alternative outfits as well). I really like the lighting in the quarters:

No mods (on xbox1) and he wasn't cringe worthy so I thought I'd toss him up here.

thats the thing ... i dont really like those wardrobe options... some are just bad recolor of that ugly beige pajama , and other two armor styles dont have cool designs to me either.

Well, you wrote "that ugly beige pajama" in your post, so I couldn't know that that was the thing.

Personally, I think the vanilla outfits and almost everything in the vanilla game look nice, with some exceptions (hairs, for one).

Its my fault i didnt state clearly in my previous post , sorry about that  :P

i think people have different tastes , for me , designs of inquisitor's armors and outfits pale in comparison to companions armors and Vive/Cass' s divine armor (skyhold outfits in particular are ugly, and without mods, i get to see my quzzies in those for most of cutscenes). textures on every armors/outfits are low-res and lack of details. So some mods to improve them are always welcome. But thats just me

yeah I enjoyed the game just fine even before playing with mods. I started mostly because there aer only so many bald characters you can create and I prefer characters with a full head of hair. I don't mind the outfits in fact I really like the mage and rogue armours. Not so much a fan of the warrior ones though. In fact I was thinking that in my next playthrough with my Qunari I'll likely go mod free so other than switching between my wardrobe costumes and armours I pick up in the game that's going to be it. Mostly because I want to see what the QunarI options are like before I try modding them. Plus I don't have any Qunari mods atm. My Lara Croft style mage will have mods applied to her though as I was going to use the Viv outfit mods and a hairstyle mod to give her a more Lara Croft look.

BTW pretty quizzy you have there

I don't agree about the textures as I think they generally are excellent. Check the screenshot of my inky with The Skin That Stalks armor a while back, for example. But I agree on the latter point - there are so many cool looking outfits in the game that aren't available for the quizzy. Frustrating.

i play DAI on 1080p with everything set to Ultra. set resolution scale to 2 for better details via cinematic tool whenever i take screenshots. my recent Valentino shots with skara's beautiful long hair mod are 1440p . not to mention i have seen many 4K or higher DAI screenshots on flickr by those talented screenshot artists (Erika for example takes prettiest and highest quality DAI shots i have seen ) . Clothes/armor textures look especially low-res during cutscenes

i have played and seen games ( fantasy games included) with much more elaborated clothes/armor textures ( i dont need to bring 2015 games , 2014 games like AC Unity or PC version fo Son of Rome for example have much more detailed and realistic looking clothes /armor textures , Lord of Fallen , a game that didnt use PBR also has better textures in my opinion) .  So no , its hard for me to think clothes/armor textures in DAI look good. ( environmental textures in DAI, on another hand, are great). I like the design of The Skin that Stalks ever since i saw it on Calpernia , but it doesnt mean the texture looks nice. Atleast crafting materials mod give textures higher res.

Aww, thanks, but that's a shame. I was looking forward to seeing what you did with him as you have access to mods, hoping you could give him better eyebrows  :pinched:. I've given him the English voice as it seemed to suit him better, the American one was the wrong timbre. He has taken on a life of his own, as Inquisitors tend to, and has started flirting with Josie. They are adorable together. So much for the Dark Side .

Abel is  by the way.

It's a shame you can't go all dark side in DAI

Oh but the lighting here looks very nice, are you using some sfx or reshade preset  in those shots ?

May i ask are you using modded eye textures for him ?

In those three shots , his chin is perfect for his face shape in my opinion.

No, no reshades. I just make some adjustments in an image editor (like paint.net)

The amazing eye texture is this one: http://www.nexusmods...tion/mods/529/?

His chin might be perfect , but it still looks wrong to me. I dunno really

Oh thank you ! You just need to set resolution scale to 2 or 3 here . i usually just set to 2 for screenshotting or else my game would lag as well, be careful if you want to set to 3 , it could crush your game . i would suggest your to adjust colors and position your characters first, then you can timestop the game and set resolution scale . it works for me .

276d72f4_o.png

there are some examples . first pic is when i set resolution scale to 1 and second is to 2 , you see the differences of details ? more detailed hair, longer lashed and sharp eye textures.

( Ignore her eye makeup ..i was trying to get her makeup look close to Charlize Theron in Snow White and Huntsman but failed..)

but tbh i think your shots are much better than my shots . i saw your shots with your girl and solas , they are stunning.  I can never get colors right.

That's so awesome. I wonder if that will help with the eyelashes. Sometimes when I take screens farther away, they will get spidery. I also noticed some odd shadows on her hair at certain angles. But I wonder if that is the hair itself or the lighting.

And thanks! But that is just the natural game lighting. I tried to change the color of the lighting once because the original lighting was very dark, but I couldn't really get it right.

See here:

I really wish we could make them pose though. So much I could do with that, used to do it all the time with TS3.
