No, no reshades. I just make some adjustments in an image editor (like paint.net)

The amazing eye texture is this one: http://www.nexusmods...tion/mods/529/?

His chin might be perfect , but it still looks wrong to me. I dunno really

Spoiler

It's a source of sadness that I can't get this ^^ fabulous hair for my Inquisitor

His chin looks fine to me, I don't see the problem. I know what it's like to drive yourself nuts in the CC though. I hope you do carry on with his playthrough.

That's so awesome. I wonder if that will help with the eyelashes. Sometimes when I take screens farther away, they will get spidery. I also noticed some odd shadows on her hair at certain angles. But I wonder if that is the hair itself or the lighting.

And thanks! But that is just the natural game lighting. I tried to change the color of the lighting once because the original lighting was very dark, but I couldn't really get it right.

See here:

I really wish we could make them pose though. So much I could do with that, used to do it all the time with TS3.

i think if you set resolution scale higher , it would help with eyelashes for distance shots. or i suppose eyelash mods will help as well.

Oh did you adjust the character lighting via cinematic tool in this shot ? because thats what happened to me when i tried to do it , my characters faces just look reddish  like this

I wish we could pose them as well and i kind wish characters look less angry outside of cutscenes :P ... but in DAI you can get some pretty badasss shots during battles or when they are using their skills . its abit tricky to take shots during cutscenes, because their poses are awkward and wooden sometimes. For me , most of shots are just close up portrait shots as i lack of skills. but some screenshot artists like Erika could come out with some amazing and lifelike cutscene shots

Well I already have an eyelash mod, so. :P And yeah, I did. Or tried to anyways. Looks weird though.

Oh and I said earlier that it was the natural lighting of the game, but I totally forgot I actually have Erika's Cinematic Reshade installed. I thought those screenshots looked familiar when I clicked that link!

I should try that though. Making screenshots during battle. Who knows what that might get me.

You could try to uninstall the eyelash mod and set resolution scale higher for gameplay, see if that will help , i wonder if the eyelash issue you had is because of eyelash mod ?  :)

Cinematic tools drives me crazy whenever i try it and i am still pretty bad at it even after Rannah and Settrah gave me some detailed tips.    :P

but i am sure you will get hang of it soon as your shots look beautiful already. I tried Erika's preset before i took break from DAI , for some reasons , erika's preset looked very white in my game, but i think thats the issue with my game settings , i will try again soon though .

Well , no need to be in battles , you could just go to some locations you like and use skills . i tried with Caterina once  :P

Well no, I can't live without my lashes! :P And how is it that your Caterina has such a nice expression? Mine looks like she's perpetually smelling something rotten whilst in combat. :')

Anywho! I tried your tip and went to do some screenarchery in battle and such. Here's some of what I made.

LOL characters will have that snarl face during battles or after they use skills , but that will take few secs so i usually just click timsstop right before it .  :)

You know your shots just proved how beautiful the world of DAI is , those detailed and varied maps ! Crestwood looks so nice even before you close the breach ! my favroite shot would be the last one , the way you position that dragon infront of the cloudy moon is brilliant

Oh i wish i could make a female elf looking as pretty as yours , because i really like designs of all dalish armors , i want my quzzies to wear them TOT

Great shots for your first time! I highly recommend dragon fight screenshots. They're the best battle screenies you can get. Also rogues (both archers and dws) have skills that look wonderful when caught in the right moment.

Heh, pretty much this. Tho sometimes that snarl works really nice with certain shots.

i agree with rogues, and reaver abilities have some REALLY cool looking effects that red dragon claw for example looks freaking awesome

I think Cass looks very nice with that snarl   :P she could pull off any expressions

Yeahhh DAI's maps are stunning! And I was so lucky that dragon just flew by. I absolutely had to take a picture of her.

And thanks! I have to say though, I find it really easy to make a, in my opinion, pretty Elf. Humans are much tougher. And Qunari are almost impossible. *sobs* Also, Dalish armors are my favourite. Just wish they could've had arm and leg add-ons as well.

Oh! And cranking up the resolution scale worked swimmingly for her lashes! Look at the difference! Now I feel compelled to make new screenshots of their romance scenes though.....

Spoiler

P.S: As always, love the screenies of Caterina! Oh and her brother of course! :P

The lashe mod works VERY nicely with the resolution scale , lower lashes especially ! i am glad it works out for you  :P

Hmm the before pic kind looks like she did apply her mascara well LOL

:( i tried to make elves before , but i couldnt get face shape right. and for some reasons , elves have thicker eyebrows than humans .

You know i have seen some really cute dwarves . i think dwarves in DAI look pretty generally i mean look at Bianca and Scout Harding

Love the cave shot , and wow i think the lighting looks very bright and soft here .  tbh i like lighting in most of areas in DAI , with exceptional of fade . I think fade is a nice location for taking scenery shots but characters look dirty and greasy there

Thanks , i am pleased how Caterina and Valentino turned out, they are pretty photogenic , i spent lots of time making all my characters so its always nice to hear people saying good things about them  ^_^

I think there is a mod for more covered up dalish keep armor?

Haha yeah, like she applied mascara layer upon layer over the span of three days without taking it off in between. :P

As for the Elven face shapes, I tend to not worry so much about the face shape itself. But rather, the ears that go along with them. I mostly avoid the elongated/stretched ones and tend to go for the shorter, pointier ones. Usually that grants me a nice shape to work with. And for the eyebrows, I use Shantia's eyebrow mod. So no big lumpy eyebrows for me! :')

I've also tried my hand at some Dwarves and they came out alright. Sadly, I'm not really invested in them though. For a number of reasons.

A more covered up keeper armor? Isn't that already fairly covered up though? :P

( Ignore her eye makeup ..i was trying to get her makeup look close to Charlize Theron in Snow White and Huntsman but failed..)

but tbh i think your shots are much better than my shots . i saw your shots with your girl and solas , they are stunning.  I can never get colors right.

That's an amazing likeness of Charlize Theron :o

Oh thank you for those tips. so ear shapes are important for making a decent looking elf ? i would never thought of it , i will have to try your tips next time i make elves. I find its easy to make pretty human females and male humans arent that difficulty , its just for me therent many eye shape options for male humans as first three eye shapes are very similar.  and for me , its harder to get human males to look like the celebs i want than human females

reason i havent tried my hands on qunari and dwarf is i dont like the height difference during cutscenes, with dwarf, you can only see lower part of other characters and with qunari , you can only see other npcs' head (or half of head) if i remember correctly ? its pretty weird

I remember is a mod that makes Dalish keeper armor looking like a ball gown . its quite pretty .

Besides dalish armors , my other favorite would be divine armor (engravings on golden armor look so beautiful) and Isabela mp armors (i love both short boots and knee high boots of Isabela's armors. I noticed that i always pay attention to characters' boots in games  :P )

Yes, I find the ears to be very essential in making a good-looking Elf. I also make sure to follow the same path of the slant of their eyes to their ears. And that the base of the ears is roughly at the same height as their eyes. So that you can roughly draw a straight line from the outer corners of their eyes to the tips of their ears.

Another thing I keep in mind is to have the space between their eyes be at least the same width as one of their eyes, or even a fraction wider. But never narrower. But I do that particular thing for all characters.

See here:

Spoiler

As for the Dwarves, the reason I'm not invested in them is firstly because they're magicless plebians. :P I find it really hard to play anything other than a mage story-wise at least. Didn't have too much trouble playing a DW Warrior/Rogue in Origins but for DA2 and DAI I just have to play a mage. With those two games I feel more intristic to the story than if I would be a non-mage. Secondly, I've always found it weird that you could bring your Dwarven companions, or yourself if you were a Dwarf, into the fade. It never sat right with me. So a Dwarven Inquisitor with a magical mark on their hand that can enter the fade physically? Nah, not buying it. And thirdly, I don't think any of the available romance options suit them. Blackwall would come closest, but I find him too daddy-like. So that would be all kinds of wrong. And Iron Bull.....Yeah no. Not with a Dwarf. Not happening in my game. I think it's just creepy.

I still -would- like to complete a Qunari playthrough. I've downloaded a bigger horns mod and some hair mods to counter their tiny heads problem. And I bought that Qunari armor, which makes them less of a bulky mass. Still leaves me the dilemma of the voice though. Oh well...This all is just how I personally feel of course.

Don't know about a mod that changes the keeper armor into a ball gown. But I do have a lovely retexture of the wedding dress as a replacer for the formal attire. So I usually walk around with all three Dalish armors and the formal attire in my bag should the need arise that my Inquisitor change into something more appropriate. :P After a certain point in the game however she will wear The Skin That... Usually after I finished everything I wanted to do before the final battle. As that is when I do the Decent and JoH and they require a bit more protection on my part. Plus, I just really like that armor as well.

Oh and yeah I like those Isabela armors too but I haven't been able to make a character where I think it would suit them.

Well as much as I love to read this thread, it was made to *show off your creation* not *discuss all the techniques*

Don't get me wrong - this discussions are interesting and all - but its just not really the topic of it.

This is the reason I do not post anything atm.  I want post my creation because I am proud of it, not if it is storywise or technical perfect ... I post to show my fantasy, my head cannon story behind the creation. Maybe it is cause I made mine - let say - on a gut level- very instinctive. It was always this way. I did even win with this attitude a contest in Origins. I fear all this - you need to do this, you have to look at that shade or have in mind this story, scares people with less skill away. Normal human are less then perfect - so I think Characters can have flaws - instead of perfect lines.

So - I hope no one is mad at me for this words - and if someone is - I can't change that.

(Hides back into Origin with her non perfect made character)

I'm sorry. But I don't see why this is an issue. We're all proud of our characters and still discussing and posting pictures of them. What's the harm in receiving a tip on how to improve screenshots or explaining how we get a certain result in the CC. If it was the picture I inculed in my previous post, I merely did that since I am not a native English speaker and felt I had to illustrate what I meant.

Also, anyone can and absolutely should do with their own characters whatever they wish. No one -needs- to do anything or take something that someone else says as a rule. I also don't see why someone "less skilled" as you put it, should be scared away by anything we say. Though to be frank, I think none of us are any less or more skilled at making -their- characters than someone else. The characters are -yours-. And those characters are best made by -you- and no one else.

But to keep up with the thread title, here's a picture of my character. Of whom I'm very proud.

Enjoy.

Well - you did get it wrong. It wasn't your picture in particular - scroll back and this whole discussion is going on since some sides now.

And since I am german and not a native english speaker I did use the wrong word. I said less skilled - and meant new players or people which have not much experience in making characters.

I love your character @Baboontje and she is beautiful.  Thanks for sharing it - on my side it was a little friendly reminder that the topic was going out of hand a bit - right ?

Nothing wrong with discussing technique, but I can understand how people might feel intimidated to post here.

But don't be, there is a lot of love left for all kinds of peeps. Whether they follow the golden rule or go their own ways.

was it something i said ? about i think how characters turn out mainly depends on how good one is with CC ? or about i think the textures on armors/outfits could be better ?  I meant no offense , those are just my opinions.

Thats very interesting tip for the eye space, i will keep it in mind  . all my characters are more or less based on some celebs so i usually just make their eye space as same as actors/actresses i molded after . I find its quite interesting because not all people have standard space between their eyes , some have eyes very close to each other and others have eyes far apart  :)

Oh do you have shots of your girl in wedding dress ? i wonder which re-texture mod you have in mind for her

I like how the Tresspasser armor looks , its like a modified version for Calpernia's armor, but i like it better without the shoulder plate.

Ah yes, I see. But having the eyes evenly spaced out or a bit farther apart is just my personal preference though. ^_^

And I have seen that mod, the one with the golden flecks. But I have another horn retexture combined with the mod that makes the horns bigger.

It's this dress retexture. The one she wears in the screens of her and Solas.

I also could've done without the shoulderguard. Because now, this happens. :')

Well as much as I love to read this thread, it was made to *show off your creation* not *discuss all the techniques*

Don't get me wrong - this discussions are interesting and all - but its just not really the topic of it.

Yes, I agree. This thread is becoming off topic. Please post pictures of your inquisitors. I don't minds tips and tricks, but detailed discussions of mods belong in another thread, especially since mods are PC specific.

Oh you misundertood me . what i meant is i never thought of the eye space before because my characters are based on somebody therefore i never really consider my characters as original .

But i want to create a original character with nice face proportion . so your tips are very helpful

OMG is this your Qunari ? she is beautiful ! do you have more shots  ? i think the hair style frames her hair perfectly

the dress suits your quizzie, gold color goes well with her pale skin and blonde hair, will you take some winter palace shots with her in this gown ?
