EDIT: This thread was named something else and was made a few days before the gameplay vid. So that's why there's posts not talking about it.

We finally have some. This is a playthrough, so it has spoilers. However, I'm posting it her because you can still just watch the first 10 minutes and avoid any real spoilers. That and I don't want spoiled myself, so it's better to be in this forum where that isn't a risk. Posting part 2 first because part 1 is just the character creator.

Part 2 of the Xbox360 Gameplay. Beware of spoilers:

Video uploader had this to say-
[spoiler]

My thoughts:

The real negatives are 1) Very obvious and distracting pop in of smaller objects like stones, grass, etc.
2) Very weird textures, like the blood texture looks like crap. I wonder if that's a bug too.
3) The hair texture bug actually doesn't look as bad as I thought it would. It's still there but it's not as bad as I saw on Low-spec PC.
4) The long load times. Alas.

Otherwise the graphics are pretty good for last-gen. Aside from the texture bugs, I'm pleased. I expected pop in. There's a lot of pop-in in Destiny but the game still looks good on Last Gen.

Bottom line, if you have a choice obviously go with the next-gen systems or go with a good PC. But if you're like me and you don't have a choice, the last-gen version of DA:I will be good times. Hopefully BioWare is aware of the texture bugs and can do something about them.

"Apparently it IS a bug, but there's no indication that BioWare's gonna patch it, but I guess if they know about it we can only hope.

Also inexplicable is the fact that DAI is shipping with a hugely distracting bug in that the same shine that is applied to armors also is applied to skin, lips and hair. Nothing says “lack of bathing facilities” and “way too much lip gloss” than the texture bug that applies gross amounts of shine to things that simply should not be so. Honestly, this is one that should not have made the Gold cut and is a big strike on the polish score.

You play a brand new game based on a new engine and expect to have top tier graphics on a machine over 3 years old? Even years ago the consoles were relatively weak.

I think that is absolutely unreasonable by any scope of the imagination.

The topic creator isn't expecting anything of the sort. You're misreading. They want to know which of the two lower-end consoles is a safer bet than the other. That's a completely reasonable desire.

I was more focused on the first line I admit.

In terms of which of the two is better I am unsure, both will be relatively underperforming when compared to PCs with overwhelmingly high specs though. The ps4 and xbox one don't even come close to what they are showing in the trailers.

I think if I were in andy's position I might actually be even more fixated on which to pick between PS3 and 360... when both ports are likely to be relative rush jobs, I'm definitely going to want to know if that impacts one side more than the other. I mean it's certainly possible they were built for the older hardware with tender love and care, but I suspect it was something of an afterthought.

Afterthoughts often lead to problems, haha.

Exactly. I need to know because one might have an easier time keeping at 30 frames per second, one might have slightly higher res textures, one might have better shadowing. Even if both suck compared to your versions, it's practically a guarantee that one will outperform the other. And since I own both consoles, I have the choice of picking the better one of the two. But right now... I don't even know if I'll be leaving the store with a 360 or PS3 even with the game coming out in days.

Yeah. It's rough. I definitely feel your pain. That said... for a while now I've had a sneaking feeling they wouldn't show anything at all pre-release and unfortunately that looks to be the case. Your best bet for a relative optimal experience would be to hold off a couple of days (if you can steel your resolve) and wait for one of those graphics comparison websites to do their thing.

Yeah I doubt it. They didn't even send review copies of either last gen version out so. . . You're out of luck.

They've probably got a reason for not showing it.

I know the reason. It's like I said, they don't like showing anything "bad looking". Lots of companies do it, it's so they don't potentially scare away buyers that might decide not to buy it because they think it looks bad. I've seen this so many times before that I'm not even surprised. What I am surprised about is how effective they're being at not letting anything of those versions get out.

Yeah i know but a friend of mine have his xbox hacked so tonight i will try it xD anyway, due to the lack of visual info about this version, i think tomorrow there will be some videos on youtube like far cry 4 which i was watching yesterday so people will see at least some gameplay and graphics before they buy the game

Alright, lets get a few things clear x)

They said there would be no gameplay changes if you play on previous gen. Framerate is a big part of gameplay so its certainly going to be the same frame rate as on current gen. Aka, 30 frames locked.

The only difference between previous and current gen will be the graphic fidelity. Current gen will basically have a few more bells and whistles, a few more effects and whatnot. Last gen achieves performance by scaling back on these effects and removing some background NPCs and so on.

If you had to choose between PS3 of Xbox 360, Id say the safe bet is PS3 as its generally been good in regards to good looking games (Last of Us) , but I also think its safe to say both the 360 and PS3 versions will be relativly similar. So buy whatever one you want.

You're wrong on that. Third party games typically look better on 360, and that is the case for the vast majority of third party games on those consoles. The PS3 is stronger, but only first party games or exclusives bother to make enough use of its full power. Generally, third parties look better on 360 and exclusives look better on PS3. Of course there are exceptions where the PS3 version is better looking, which is why it's still worth looking at some comparisons to know for sure.

Rush Jobs? That's not fair to bioware, Mike Ladilaw said in an interview that the only differences they wanted to have between the platforms was graphical and that the games would all play the same.

I could also point out that the statements saying that they were "Aiming for 30 frames" were possibly made during the period in which they were working on optimisation, which is one of the last things to happen in game development. The reason they could say for certain that it runs AT 30 frames on PS4 and Xbone is that before optimisation, it was probably hitting above 30 frames on those consoles. The reason they said they were AIMING for 30 frames on last gen, is perhaps because it was running at lower then 30 frames for the last gen versions. This would mean they cant confirm its running at 30 frames as they havent hit that yet.

The chances are still very high that last gen Inquisition will run at the same fps as current gen, albeit at lower resolution and less fancy effects. They could also be holding that info back because as some people have suggested, marketing requires you to put your best foot forward. Show the game off at its best, which would be on PS4/Xbone and PC, as they are the biggest contenders.

I highly doubt they would withold negative info about framerate on last gen simply so they can avoid negative press. That makes no sense, because they'd get even WORSE press AFTER release.

Except that the majority of people would've already bought their copy by then, which is all that matters to the publisher.

Sorry, but consumers are notoriously bad at telling one version from another in advertising.   I doubt you will see anything official depicting the 360/PS3.   There is nothing nefarious at work there, just the simple fact that some consumers will see that lower quality version and assume EVERY version of the game looks like that.

I am sure there will be youtube comparison videos out the same day showing the difference.   If what it looks like might affect your purchasing decision, then just wait 1 day.

They've probably got a reason for not showing it.

Nobody showed AC Unity for PS4 before release and Far Cry 4 and GTA V for Xbox One before release. So it could be marketing issues as well.

Seems you can't install the play disc

Maybe you can install the play disc on a USB like you could with GTAV ...? That actually worked really well for GTAV. Anyone know if this is possible?

Nope!

Welcome to PC gaming/female gamers, where companies will sell to you, but won't market to you and typically pretend like you don't exist.

You forgot gay gamers.

Every single Bioware's RPG trailer in the last 7 years that showed a sex scene was with male protag and "hot female companion".

This might be off topic though

This is a tricky situation for old console users for sure, I hope you will be satisfied with your purchase, OP.

that's incredibly disappointing.
