Sorry, I just meant to say, if you are buying from an international retailer, whether via VPN or not, those sites will work.

Well, it has already activated, I got the key and it shows up in my account. I will update when the preload starts.

You used Hola or VPN to activate the key?  or Just typed in normally and it was activated?

I don't have a working PC right now and the upgrades might delay me for as long as a month or more, so on that front I'll be fine waiting. It's almost good for me in that sense cos I can wait and see how much success people have and how many restrictions (if any) EA will end up adding. Anyway none of the other games no matter how good will match up to DAI for me as this is my favourite series not those. :(

we will find a way ,i am sure

witcher 3 is coming soon too.

well my concern is if we connect the origin client even if for some other game to indian servers, who knows if inquisition might get flagged and pulled down. Can they pull a game down after its activated once>????

In that regard setting up a separate acct specifically with a vpn would bypass ,all such worries.

People are saying it will not get pulled once activated. There was this one poster who confirmed they were able to keep blocked games activated via VPN from China. EA didn't care and even multiplayer worked. So there is yet hope. We just need to find a retailer that will sell keys that will work. Probably safe to just always have VPN on or be offline.

You can use a VPN to pre load right now. SoftEther VPN with South Korean server works fine.

I could, I actually even have a paid VPN subscription, but now that I have the key and the game is on my account it's just a matter of time. I try to avoid using a VPN with Steam or Origin, if it's just about waiting, I'll wait till 21st. If it still does not work, I will try it with a VPN.

I used no VPN while activating the key on Origin. Just used one while purchasing a key.

I thought it was 8:30PM Indian time i.e. midnight in Seoul which would make more sense.

Oh is it ? When my friend connects to a Korean VPN, it shows the time for unlock as 8:30 PM.

That has been my experience with Steam, and I know someone who said the same of Origin.

On the other hand, Games for Windows live has been known to block keys purchased from the wrong region. Clicking redeem on the key I purchased was a genuinely scary moment, just because of that!

Yeah that's what. The release time in Korea is midnight which makes it 8:30 for us.

hmm .... I didn't think of it like that. I didn't think it was local time. I thought 8:30 PM was the time it unlocks in Korea ... I'll know in about an hour anyways.

We know that DAI keys are region free so that will probably help. EA can only go as far as pulling the copies from stores that are in India really. Do we have a confirmation if g2a pulled the keys from selling to India because of pressure from EA or because they themselves didn't want to face legal repercussions from selling to India? I'm thinking the reason is the latter simply based on fact that EA seems to still allow digital console versions.

I have a feeling G2A is just covering its legal bases. If they sell a key to an Indian customer using an Indian account, and Indian card, without VPN, they are essentially selling a broken product, since they know some features (if only its DLC purchases) wont work.

Guys, I have a doubt.

In order to avoid a breach of local content laws, Electronic Arts has withdrawn Dragon Age: Inquisition from sale in India. Unfortunately, that means we’re unable to fulfill your Origin order.

  • All affected purchases for Dragon Age: Inquisition will be refunded. This applies regardless of payment method or date of purchase.
  • Dragon Age: Inquisition may still temporarily appear in your Origin library, but it will be removed before its launch date.

The emphasized words are worrisome. Even if we do manage to activate it, which some of us already did and even if we start playing for now, EA says it will remove the game before launch date no matter what the purchase date is. So it all comes down 21 st. I think those of us who got the keys will be able to play till then and after 21st, we have no clue.  :(

Yeah that makes sense and I suspect as much. All this to me points to the fact that EA is not actively banning Indians from playing the game. I find it highly unlikely EA will go out of their ways to drive off paying customers unless there is a legal threat pushing them to do so. They simply appear to be doing the bare minimum to abide by certain content laws. I guess time will tell if this isn't the case.

And just FYI I say this as a non-EA fangirl before people start accusing me of defending the company.

I'd assume that means if you've bought it from the indian origin store, so it doesn't really apply to us. hopefully.

This is the very reason I spent the whole of Saturday when I heard the news worrying about VPN activation. I suppose we'll just have to play it safe and use VPN with Origin at all times unless someone can afford to confirm it will not be removed.

You don't need to keep VPN active 24/7 to play the game, simply use it once to import save data from the keep and then put origin in offline mode. Reactivate with a VPN if they release an update and disable it again when its downloaded.

If you want to play multiplayer, then tought luck probably.
