If you want full goodies then use softvp with vpngate client and then just use a US/Mexico Ip and go from there.

The problem is that I live in hostels, where we are only provided with 15GB of monthly Internet. Hence, Physical copy is the only option for me. But before placing the order, I need to be sure that it will work in India, else.."Paisa gutter mai gaya". From what I know, while installing the game via physical discs, verification needs to be done through Origins.Since that will progress via Indian IP, will it go through or not?

I am currently downloading via an Indian IP, so I don't think verification will be a problem. If you know anyone who has downloaded a copy of the game, you can just take the files from them via an external HDD. It is about 24GB of data so unfortunately I can't use the good old method of burning to DVD and mailing it.

So am I right in understanding that Deluxe edition is only available digitally on Origin and Amazon (out of keys I hear, though physical is available)? There are no other 3rd party sites selling that edition?

Yup. It seems to be an Origin exclusive offer, to tempt people to use their store :-(

I think eventually all that content will be available as DLC.

In that case, you will have to sacrifice yourself

Not true. You can recruit Loghain and let Alistair leave the Wardens and marry Anora. Everybody wins :D   But I digress.

Confirming that logging in and pre-loading without VPN works.

:)

This is great. My physical from Amazon arrives on 20th. Or 21st. If I can play the game doing away with all the VPN stuff, all the better for it.

Do tell me if that works properly. I am planning to buy a physical myself, but am skeptical about the verification process.

This is friggin' ridiculous. I just got the mail saying they wont charge me for my purchase. Can somebody give us more context and information as to why it's banned in India?

Due to homosexual content being an optional part of the game

Because boobs.

Though I'm not sure why Bioware couldn't just release a censored version.

Not because of boobs, but because of male+male scenes. Scenes where most if not all things happens outside screen but yes, homophobic indian govern, strikes again.

I think using a VPN will be cheaper, why leave the country when you can send just your internet on vacation ;-)

If you are not concerned about the pre-order bonuses, go ahead. Or, you can preorder now, and then cancel the preorder if things don't work out here.

Heh. Well they are a third part that has no control over this. It's especially weird since they only mention India, while other countries are also affected.

They keys are activating, even without a VPN, so yeah, does seems like they are just trying to be overly cautious, and avoid giving mass refunds.

It really is riddiculous, that Indian government is censoring something like that.

If they have some anti-gay agenda, I'd understand foribidding gay parades or something like that. But censoring media becuase of homosexual content?

Most of today's TV series depict some kind of same-sex relationship. Are they going to censor them too?

As a side-note, it kind of pisses me off, that such censorship is basically possible because of DRM (Origin in this case).

I have nothing against digital distribution to be honest, and most of the time I support DRM in form of Steam/Origin/Uplay (support = it's not too obnoxious for me). I'm even of a mind that Steam is the best thing that could have happened to PC gaming.

But in good ol' days, you'd just purchase a copy abroad, and loaded it without any problems, because there'd be no internet verification to stop you from doing so.

Decision was taken by EA not Govt.. EA banned the game coz of Article 377..

Govt..never checks or rates games in India...Government don't care about video games here lol...

there is no official ban by the govt on the game,EA is just pussyfooting, because they were previously dragged to court for some content by some group/something  in dante's inferno.

so this is their solution just pull the stuff off market.Rather than atleast try.
