Yeah I guess that theory it won't be removed is gone. The stores still are not Indian based though, they probably were able to get Microsoft and Sony to cooperate with them on this.

Yeah you should be able to use the US store for PSN. Though you need a US based credit card or PSN gift cards.

I've seen that, but EA CS can be a bit contradictory.

the end product was still served to indian audience so whether or not stores were indian based doesn't matter,i think.

Is it? The EA guy is saying the exact opposite no? That it is okay to use VPN to access an early release date but not okay if used to buy from another store?

Question is will they give full refund if they deem the purchase against their TOS?

Since you asked, if you've gone the VPN way, you need to be on the same VPN server for the refund, i.e. Mexico in my case (as in most of the cases, I presume). It's a full refund, I guess, since there is no part refund...

Speaking of TOS - we haven't broke any "terms of use and services".

EA's TOS dictates - any Indian ip address cannot "buy" the product. Let's say, you have relocated recently to Mexico (or for that matter anywhere else). TOS becomes null and void. TOS is an escape way, should EA face any lawsuit. They can get rid of their own responsibility. That's how a corporate lawyer explained to me. The rest remains to be seen...

EA representatives are less-informed individual, most of the time.

Even then, this chat transcript rather complicates things (if we take it at its face value).

Buying from a different country (using VPNs) and thereby escaping more taxation and regional pricing

AND

Playing a game before regional release date (using VPN exploits)

- They are nothing but two sides of the same coin - both "violates" TOS/EULA

What was he smoking at that moment? Narcotics are easily available there - as I have heard. No offense!!

@INA > I agree with Hawke911 on this one!

Sometimes we need to take a leap of "faith" and speaking of Bioware, there are hundred reasons not to, but one damn good reason to not miss it!

Guess what, before 21st/22nd, nobody will be able to clear your doubt(s) reasonably - and I assume you know that pretty well!  ;)

I am sorry, I forgot mentioning the soundtracks alone are worth thousand bucks.

If nothing else can convince you, I request you to please listen to the OSTs on youtube. If you still don't feel to take the leap of faith, I don't what will...

I can wait till then. My PC is in middle of upgrade so it's not like I can start playing it today. But thanks guys, you've convinced me on this one...I guess at end of day I rather play the game while risking it's removal than play it safe and never play the game. Choice is pretty clear. :)

I just want to clarify something. I bought the game from the origin store via hola and am downloading using korean vpn. Will my game will be all in english (menu, voices, text) or will there be some korean parts? I just want some confirmation on this.

I think there is an important difference between the two. If you are purchasing a product using a VPN set to another country, you are paying the rates and taxes of that country as you said. The reason most people bring up the Mexico store here is because the prices are cheaper there, not because there is any other advantage. EA can look at this as someone trying to take advantage of cheaper prices in another reason to save money. This costs EA money.

On the other hand, simply activating a game early doesn't cost EA any money. In fact from what I understand the whole staggered release dates isn't something that really helps the publishers or developers that much. From what I understand it's mostly something demanded by brick and mortar stores, because different regions have different product release strategies. Most game releases in the US are on Tuesdays(18th), in some regions (I think the EU) its on Fridays (21st). I don't know how Tuesday makes sense, but I guess Friday is fairly obvious, people have the coming weekend to play the game.

So basically unlocking the game early costs EA no money, so they are unlikely to take action against it, on the other hand buying from a different region might run afoul of  Indian laws, the laws of that country etc. and also might lose them money. The only thing they gain by blocking access either way is bad publicity. Heck the developer of Sniper Elite 3 got heat for justifiably blocking game keys that were stolen!

I would think this will depend on the region from where you purchased the game, not where you are downloading it from.

Check the folder in the game install that has the text / voice content.

The files should named en.*

Even if they are not, I think it should be possible to download an English language pack or something.

True but EA don't exactly shy away from bad publicity.  :P
