If anything I'm glad EA chose not to release censored version of the product, whatever their motivation was for the decision. I hate censorship of that kind and I rather companies not give into these BS content restriction laws. People are able to import or grab it online from other countries so it's not so terrible, just very inconvenient for some people with a poor internet and/or no CC. Unless they choose to block these copies based on IP of course, but honestly why should they? EA has done it's part by ensuring they don't breach local laws...beyond that since it's not an official ban, they can't forbid people from owning a copy bought outside India. I'm okay with that cos a ban would be worse.
Exactly!
In the end when you think about it, it no different that the hundreds of other products that never release in India. Unless owning the product itself is illegal, there I nothing stopping you from getting it wherever it is sold and using it in India. This situation is only complicated by the online activation requirements of the DRM.
This is no longer a local story though, Ars has covered it, Kotaku has covered it, IGN, Gamespot and numerous other websites have covered it. The Ars article even goes so far as to recommend using VPN.
At this point if the game actually gets blocked by EA, they will have to deal with global backlash, even from those whom this issue does not affect.
