Its still available on indian psn and xbl live , i doubt its anything to do with the gay content or anything.Ther is tons of such content on television and movies and out of all this they find this game?? really,i dont believe it.

Indian PSN store is the EU store with a local currency skin, so technically it's not an Indian store. To comply with the laws, EA probably only has to not sell them in Indian stores. On the other hand, the Origin store we have here is a regional Origin Indian store so they had to pull the game. No idea how Xbox works.

I think EA does not want to sell to the Indian PC market anymore, first it was stopped with selling physical copies of games and restricting it to digital downloads and now eliminating PC downloads altogether

I'm starting to think the same thing now. There could be some other reason.

We always get a delayed release in India, take the case of electronics like Apple. Could it be the case that they are delaying release in India and making a price revision, hence they took it off? And as I said, why only removed for PC seems fishy.

Don't think so as there are more PC gamers in India than consoles (although console gamers have increased the last few years). Besides Battlefield Hardline is available for pre-order. There must be something else.

Has to be,plus the only source to say its something to do with gay content,is from a guy on reddit ,who in turn mentioned his friend who knew someone/or contacted someone in EA,all that without any  pic or source.

So who knows someone might be trying to spread misinformation .

Not really, all games are released on the same day as in the UK.

First off ... sucks the game launch got cancelled only in India, that is what really matters to me right now. Do not really agree / care about the reason. If gay rights is really the problem, then all I have to say is that Homosexuals have a right to exist even if we do not understand them and if we don't understand / like their preferences, then we should leave them alone, not persecute them. Now on to the main problem.

Now, from what I understand from my investigation, when I login to the non Indian store of Origin (using VPN) I am able to see the prices in USD and I am able to see the game in the origin store as well. So this is what I can conclude for now ...

1. Origin only figures out which country you are coming from based on your IP address.

2. Origin does not figure out your country based on where you created the account or the other details you have on your profile.

How can I be sure? I launched origin outside of VPN and could not load the DAI page, then launched the VPN and searched for DAI (did not restart origin) and was able to load the page. I created my account originally as a Bioware account (even before Origin existed) which then became an Origin account. It was created in India with Indian IP and postal address. But when I tried changing the country to USA today, Origin store did not change. It only identified me based on the IP that I was hitting the Origin servers from.

So we are clear that Origin is blocking us from PURCHASING the game from India. But if I purchase the game from any other country using my origin account, it will not be a violation, well because of the way Origin is identifying my country and because my Origin account is not tied to any country. I assume that the game will show up in "my games" after the purchase.

I contacted EA support about this and what they told me was this -

SanjayMy specialist team told that, since the origin is region specific, so there'll be an error always when you'll try to play the game here, as the IP address will be different and also the other specifications.
SanjayAlso the cloud storage is available for the games that are available on online mode, so you can save them, but here in India since the game is not available, so there is not any scenario for that.

Another thing he told me which I forgot to copy paste before I closed the window was that since the game is not available in India, there won't be any servers related to DAI hosted in India.

So from that conversation, the bottom line seems to be that we will need to use a VPN to play this game from India. No matter what we do, pirated, not pirated, bought in another store via VPN, hard copy shipped to use from another country, CD Key from another seller, nothing will work because Origin & EA servers check the IP of the computer playing the game and if the IP is from India, it will have problems.

What I think is that playing via a VPN should not be so much of a problem and not cause any deterioration in the game play experience. Let me know what you people out there think.

Well that sucks. We'll have to wait and see. Otherwise VPN is the way to go.

I'll be very surprised if Xbox live has a local Indian store. They probably use the closest regional equivalent just like PSN.

I believe if we buy it from some retailer elsewhere and use VPN to activate it, we should be good to go. Anyway, that's what I am going to do. I'll order it from Amazon US and see how that works out.

But that still doesn't make sense. If it's not available in India why is DAI still available for purchase for the console versions.

@amoghvc

thanks for the thorough digging man

1.so this means that we would need to have the origin client running using a vpn everytime to launch the game???

2 also this mean i can actually buy from the indian store if i use a vpn to log in to the indian store .

So bottom line is no matter where we buy from ,we ll have to use origin client with a vpn everytime we connect...or is it everytime we launch???

I mentioned this earlier as the reason I think this is: PSN store is not an Indian store, it's simply a EU store with local currency skin. Presumably a similar thing is true for Xbox, though I can't confirm that. EA only have to pull the sale from Indian stores, so since technically 'Indian' PSN is EU store, they don't have to pull it.  Physical discs might be pulled from India...we will have to wait and see as it's still too early for online retailers and local shops to make this update.

Console versions are there only for the time being. They will soon remove them too.

One guy in Reddit bought it from US Store using VPN and is currently pre loading it. Whether VPN is required to play the game or not, we have to wait till the 17th.

welcome bro ... From what I understand, we will need a VPN every time we play the game (which includes launching origins)

It works for the other games / people not in India because the store they buy it from and the country they play it in, both have the game available and listed. But our case is unique / funny because the game is not listed / available in India, so we can only guess as to how it will behave when we try to run it.

Usually they setup local severs to handle the load. Also if they pulled the game from Origin & they pull the console games too, then there would be no local Indian servers and we are totally doomed. If the console does not get pulled, then they might still setup Indian servers and we might see a ray of hope. Unless, the console games don't login to the servers with an Indian IP and thus get directed to EU servers since that is the place the Console stores are based off, which to me sounds highly unlikely, because the physical devices have to go through an Indian ISP. My only concern is that they should not black list Indian ISPs / IPs on their server, then we will always need a VPN, if they don't then there might be ways around it.

@Razpor -

I am purely speculating right now, but offline mode may or may not work depending on how the game is developed.

If the DRM is strict and it has to login once when you launch the game to check if all is well, then we are going to have a tough time and the only way around it is a crack / no DRM patch, which I do not like for various reasons. Also if game needs net connection and pings a server regularly to sync / save game state, then again we have a problem. Most games these days expect a live connection to be available all the time.
