I don't hate him. I simply find the notion absurd that Bioware not allowing you to do exactly what you intended Is absurd In itself... I should've cut Loghain's throat at my first meeting with him In the camp but alas, the game didn't allow me!

Muh gawd, such awful design.

There area reasonable railroads and unreasonable ones.

Metagaming: Some railroads give the rider no reason to not hop on the train. Letting Loghain live before he's done something wrong, would be one such as that.

Faith in the DM: Some railroads give the rider reason to object, but reward them for their faith. Shepard working with Cerberus, but he's given the option to turn against the Illusive Man in the end.

Abuse of the player's faith: And some railroads give the rider plenty of reason to object, and then lead to the very disaster they saw forthcoming. Letting a villain like Petrice live after she tries to kill you to start a war. Or working for Merideth when you've been trying to take her down.

The last should be avoided at all cost.

Also, can we finally get rid of calling anyone who doesn't like Hawke a "Hawke hater"?

I don't think so, since Hawke has generally been at the center of these complaints, judging by the number of "I hope we can kill him/her" threads that pop up. Besides, it's fairly straightforward. It's not like there's any part of that term that isn't factual.

At first meeting in the camp? Just....why?

"You, you killed the hero of River Dane? Why did you do this????!"

"Had a bad feeling about that guy."

The choice

Spoiler

If it's a matter between Hawke or Loghain/Alistair, that choice might give me a moment's pause cause I even though I really like Hawke I also enjoyed both Loghain and Alistair as characters.

But choosing to save Stroud, a Warden I know little to nothing about and spent no real time with, over choosing to save Hawke, a protagonist I spent all of DA2 playing as.... Yeah, Stroud's gonna be one dying each and every time.

If you're talking about the end of act 3, then this Is invalid as you're allowed the option to side against her.

Otherwise, your two last options are interchangable as both are "railroaded" and you're given the option to threaten Petrice with Death during your encounter much like the disagreement with the Illusive man and as Petrice eventually Is "killed", if you choose to side against her. Both can be considered a "reward".

Also, you can decide to work with Orsino instead, If my memory recalls it correctly.

Off topic: Seriously wth is wrong with this screenshot. Was it made on lower than lowest possible details on pc or what ?

This guy looks so unnatural, this beard like it was photoshoped. And what is wrong with those square, pixelated-like blood splatters on his shoulders.

I don't see what the problem is with Meredith being a quest giver in Act 3, regardless of whether or not you oppose her. The only complaint I can see here is that you can't simply play a fanatical Hawke that will just kill Meredith right in the middle of her office, thereby triggering an endgame battle right then and there, since the Templars will rightly attack and Hawke can no longer stick around in the city. Problem is, Hawke is just one person, and the Templars are deeply entrenched in Kirkwall. Up until Anders destroys the Chantry and forces both factions to fight, Hawke has no reasonable avenue of attack with which she could take down Meredith anyway.

Its a 360 screenshot + the guys stream was lagging like hell causing texture loadings.

That beard looks so ridiculous. It's like a cheap wig is glued to his jaw.

Yeah, the blocky blood spatter was something I complained about practically all day when I found a 360 version video. I really like the blood spatter, so seeing that on a last gen version (which I'm getting) annoyed me a lot. Thankfully, it's not as blocky in the PS3 version videos I saw. It's still a tad blocky, but not nearly as bad as the 360 version's spatter. This is partly why I decided on the PS3 version over the 360 one.

So the super-shininess of the hair was a unique problem, like I thought. As I said, the PS3 video certainly didn't have hair like that.

You sure about that? I've been watching a lot of a PS3 version stream, and the hair is no where near that awful. A tad shinier than it should be when light hits it wrong, but not that unholy abomination. Unless the 360 version has a problem the PS3 version doesn't have, I think that's more likely to be the PC low settings. The PS3 version videos I have watched have looked obviously better than the PC-low pics and videos I've seen.

Im not 100% sure but others have said that its the 360 version & is the reason why the facial hair looks far worse

No, I'm talking about the middle of Act 3. Merideth comes and asks you to hunt down some apostates. You can refuse, but then the game fails to progress. And by accepting it, now the rebellion (the closest group to sane in the entire city) thinks you work for her.

You can threaten Petrice all you like, but Hawke was in a position to stop her and had plenty reason to do so. But you're forbidden from ever doing it until after she's already caused the deaths of several others. The Illusive Man never puts Shepard in that position.

See for yourself, no super reflective and shiny hair in this vid... Or if there is, it's a hell of a lot more subtle.

I'm really glad that this game can still squeeze a fair bit of life out of my PS3. Didn't feel like investing in a new system just yet.

Welp, I know what my inquisitors will be doing with Hawke. I hope that IF Hawke has a romance, he/she will have an explanation for them not with him/her

Kind of the opposite.  I don't really like Hawke all that much....my mind may change when I see "my" Hawke.  And while I was very interested in where and to what capacity both other PC were in the game,  I don't think I would have all that hard of a time getting rid of him...I just saw him as a very dull and bland character in a bare bones game.  Maybe that has some bearing on why Bioware did this.....a "gift" to the DA2 haters.

If I could trade hawke to have the "arishok' from DA2 in my party?  I'm making that trade every time.

I was hesitant about the idea of Hawke speaking independently, but I'm feeling much more comfortable about it now.

Hmph. That doesn't explain why Hawke's alone in case of other LI's. Alright, maybe Anders was in real danger of exposure to Corypheus, but what about Isabela, Fenris, Merrill? They're not tainted.

I'm guessing they all have unique reasons.  We'll have to wait and see.

Hopefully you can also remove the blood smear from default Hawke's face as well, I never liked that look lol.
