Hey guys

This was a sad email that i read once i woke up. In order to prevent breaching of content laws, DAI has been pulled from sale in India.

I was really excited to play this game. Just hoping it will get solved and that maybe in the future.

What the hell? What content laws? What bullshit is this? Is my country in the goddamn Middle East that we are so conservative? Holy **** guys, just blur the breasts if they cause so much of an issue. For god's sake Bollywood movies now a days have much racier and adult stuff including nudity! This is WRONG!

Does this mean the game will not be sold in India period? Whether retail or online like Amazon, Flipkart or even the PSN store?

This is against the tenets of the Qun, may the Arishock have mercy on your soul.

Was this decision made by EA/Bioware or some idiot politician?

This doesn't make sense! GTA V had a proper strip club and exposed breasts! It was sold here, like hotcakes!

Your assuming it wasn't banned for religious reasons? Come on, its Indian Politics we're dealing with, not Australian.

What religious reasons? The religious content is same as it has ever been. Are Hindu Fanatics against the Chantry?

Fallout 3 had two headed cows called Brahmin, there was some controversy for like a month with Microsoft considering a ban and then Bethesda released the game anyway. Nobody cared.

And this looks like it came from EA and not a government ban. Did EA assume there would be a "breach" ?

Frankly, i'm pissed. VERY pissed. For a country that censors even swear words in Cinema Halls yet allows games like GTA:V to be sold and distributed in-country, it's either a heavy case of carelessness or ignorance.

Regardless, I placed my order for the game on PlayAsia just now and paid the extra money to have it shipped to me on expedite shipping (their fastest method - about $20 more expensive). Yeah, that's how much I NEED to play this!

I hope to get the game around the 23rd of this month and suggest you do the same if you want to play it as well. I don't see any other way to circumnavigate this s***ty decision.

Can we get a proper explanation as to the thought process behind the decision? Who said what and so on? Was there a court order or something?

Even if you find out the reason, would it help you good sir? Fallout: New Vegas was banned for the s***tiest reason; I believe it was for having a two headed cow in the game or something along those lines (sensitive religious reasons). Though having Sunny Leone act in Bollywood movies these days is completely acceptable :D

Whatever the reason is, it's likely it won't get overturned. If you're looking forward to playing this as much as I am, i'd suggest asking a friend to get it for you from abroad, or to put down the cash and order it from a 3rd party site.

This is some bullshit.

My heart goes out to anyone who won't get to play the game, or will have to pay extra for it because of this.

That too, India of all countries! There are places with far strict content / censorship laws than ours.

Have games like Heavy Rain been banned from India as well, I wonder?

That's the thing, New Vegas wasn't even banned!! I have bought it multiple copies of the game and I think you meant Fallout 3 and even that is still available on Flipkart.

This HAS to be an EA decision because Saints Row IV which has false giant genitalia weapons and an anal weapon called the Penetrator which you can wield while running around buck naked while playing as a naked giant boobed lady with pasties on is readily available here. The only issue was that Deep Sliver didn't have a distribution partner so stocks were limited for a time.

Every single game in the X-Box 360/PS3 and next gen Generation is available save some Japanese titles.

Yep - it was both FO3 + New Vegas:

New Vegas I know because I looked several times on Steam and it was never available.

In either way, this really sucks, heh. But like most things in India, you can get what you want... for a price, unfortunately :/

How are they available for PS3 then? Are the Fallout games available on Steam now?

I find it hilarious how Mass Effect in the US caused a lot of hue and cry but the PC version was released silently here.

No clue. I logged on and checked Steam just now; these are the search results I got for "Fallout":

Fallout: A Post Nuclear Role Playing Game
Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel
Fallout 2: A Post Nuclear Role Playing Game

No Fallout 3. No Fallout: NV ;)

Okay, I'm from Bangladesh. I just bought Fallout 3 from Steam last week. So obviously that ban has no effect here. But for some reason, Inquisition has been pulled from Origin for me as well. It's just so frustrating. Why am I being denied a product that's been banned by another government?!

Haha indeed.

My heart bleeds for PC gamers. Even if they get the game, they most probably won't even be able to activate it on Origin since the game itself is de-listed from the Indian store.

Console gamers like me on the other hand, are blessed in this case :)

Where are you from, and what platform are you looking forward to playing DA:I on?

By the way, if you look closer it's being sold by BooyahChicago with a leadtime of 1-3 weeks. In other words, you're paying a huge amount of INR 2500 to have this company ship it to you from the US. Hence, it's still technically not being sold in India :)

Judging by my reaction, it should be clear I am from India.

PS3 gamer here and the game still shows up on the Indian PSN.

Might be case of Origin only ban which would be weird.

HAHA! Look at me! I'm playin banned gamez! Subvertin ur culture!

Ah, touche!

But again, F3 is very old and console versions readily available.

From wikipedia:

On 11 December 2013, on responding an appeal filed by an astrologer Suresh Kumar Koushal and others,[30] the Supreme Court of India upheld the constitutionality of Section 377 of the IPC, and stated that the Court was instead deferring to Indian legislators to provide the sought-after clarity.[1] In its judgment the Supreme Court stated

"We declare that Section 377 IPC, insofar it criminalises consensual sexual acts of adults in private, is violative of Articles 21, 14 and 15 of the Constitution. The provisions of Section 377 IPC will continue to govern non-consensual penile non-vaginal sex and penile nonvaginal sex involving minors... Secondly, we clarify that our judgment will not result in the re-opening of criminal cases involving Section 377 IPC that have already attained finality.

But again, was this a court ordered ban or EA's own decision made in a bubble?

I should probably contact every gay person in India I can find and request them to purchase this game in protest. Shameful!

Hey guys

DAI has been pulled from sale in India.

Excellent. Some of the best native-speaking English coders I know of are in India. The game will be freely available for download, and free of DRM, on The Internet by 20 November. The "Dark Webs" has it set for release on 17 November.

You lucky buggers on the Asian continent. You get to save your money. I guess this is where the Russian version will be coming from. And it won't need Origins so no worry about being locked out.  Brilliant.

This reminds me of a funny scene from a film called Blazing Saddles:

****, is that the reason that this game is not available ? Because some politicians chose to uphold the notion laid down in the 1800s that being gay is same as bestiality ? I did not thing this could get any more depressing :(
